Chapter 26

< A deal?

He knew he and the witch were up to something, but what he really needed to find out was what Lucian had to give her to get her to agree to his request.

Ethan barely managed to get to his feet, the whitish ground turning reddish from the amount of b***d he was losing. He twitched his muzzle, and looked at Lucian before him.

The albino wolf was pacing back and forth, all the wounds he gave him had closed and he seemed recovered. He then glances at Eren, Eren had returned to his human state, his mind was still blank and that worried him.

While Lucian snarled at him and bared his ferocious teeth.

-You are finished, Ethan. We have come to the end of this battle, in which you will not be the victor.

-Don’t be so quick to claim victory, for I am still alive.

-Not by much, it was too easy for them to fall into my trap. The ice is really hard, but I knew you would follow my scent, that’s why I broke the ice just the way you would take it. What an idiot you are!

Lucian stops pacing back and forth, stopping just short of Ethan’s face. He growls at him and grunts.

The alpha knew he would attack him again, but this time he wouldn’t let him.

Ethan watches as Lucian runs towards him at full speed, the wolf buries his nails as best he can in the ice and waits until the last moment. The wound on his spine was healing, allowing him to move with agility.

By the time Lucian was about to come down on him with his big open muzzle, Ethan dodges it and leaps onto his back. He ends up biting much of its neck and ear, and with that bite he pulls the wolf’s body to one side.

Lucian slides across the ice with a shattered ear and a large hole in his neck. B***d quickly pools under his body, but he doesn’t care. He rises to his feet and a curtain of b***d falls from his fur.

-You still have energy.

-I’m not the same boy you knew when I nearly murdered your son,” Ethan hears him laugh in his mind.

-No, you are not the same. You’re weaker than I thought.

He runs back to him and Ethan does the same. Both wolves are at the same time biting at his back, paws, side, and muzzle.

The fight seemed pretty even, the growls were fierce, the frozen ground already had hundreds of scratches created by their paw nails. However, they did not stop attacking each other.

Until Ethan bit down on Lucian’s foreleg and threw him away with it. The wolf slammed his body into a huge tree that grew on the edge of the lake and lay there motionless as a pool of b***d began to grow under his body.

Ethan growled through his teeth without taking his eyes off Lucian. He didn’t move again, but from where he stood, he could tell he had lost his entire ear.

The alpha made to walk over to him to end his life once and for all, when he heard Eren’s voice.

-Ethan… n-no, don’t kill him yet,” he whispers, moving slightly.

The wolf turns around and watches his king trying to sit up. His body was completely purple, and his hands were already almost black.

-Eren, he needs to warm you up.

-You can’t kill him yet, we must find out the secret he’s keeping.

-Secret?

Suddenly, his friend manages to turn into a wolf. At least that way he’d be warmer. However, he was quite weak; he could hardly get up on all fours.

-Now that he’s unconscious is our chance to finish him off, no matter what he’s hiding.

-No, we’ll find out what he’s hiding first, and his relationship with the witch can help us protect ourselves from her.

Ethan growls at him, as he did not agree, but he was the king, he could not contradict him. When both wolves look to where Lucian should be, he is gone. Only the dregs of b***d were what was left of him.

-Shit, he’s escaped,” Ethan ejaculates, rushing to the scene. He’s gone! And he didn’t leave a trace.

-He’s hurt as badly as we are, I don’t think he’ll get very far.

The blue moon alpha thought the same, from what he had seen, his ear was completely gone. The holes in his neck were pretty deep, at the very least it would take him a long time to regenerate his wounds.

-We have to find him, Eren. Get what he knows out of him and kill him.

-Yes,” the wolf replies in a whisper.

At that moment, Ethan stops listening to his companion’s thoughts and turns around. That’s when he spots Eren lying on the ice.

-Eren!

-Damn Ethan,” mutters Lucian, running in his human form with some difficulty. He’s torn my ear off, that bastard will pay for this.

Lucian was frustrated that his plan had almost succeeded, but he hadn’t counted on Ethan becoming a match for him. He was aware that Eren and Ethan together were a threat, but not alone.

Apparently he was wrong, since that wretched wolf could manage on his own without his albino companion.

Lucían touched his non-existent ear and let out a thousand oaths, he had lost it completely. The large amount of b***d he was losing was very significant, as the holes in his neck had not yet closed.

She was lucky Eren didn’t wake up, or he wouldn’t have counted her. Even if that damned witch had given him the power he wanted, he still had rivals who measured the same powers.

-Damn backstabbing witch. But I know what I’m missing, unfortunately it’s not done yet. With a demon, this is taking longer than I estimated.

He pauses looking at the top of the mountain, he had no choice but to climb. He needed to regain his energy to be able to descend with strength, but before that, he had to hunt for food.

Then he glanced towards the witch’s mountain, at this distance he could half see the peak of the mountain. He squinted, if everything went wrong, she would get what she deserved. He kept running upwards, leaving Ethan and Eren behind.

He opens his eyes suddenly rejoicing at what he had just seen. She smiles openly as she sees that Lucian was badly hurt, unfortunately for her she could only see him, but not hear his thoughts. And it was a shame, otherwise she would have long since discovered his plans.

Though it didn’t take much intelligence to figure that out.

The witch rises to her feet, at the same time hundreds of snowflakes slide down her blackened dress to fall back into the pile at her feet. The woman looks up at the sky and sees a fierce snowstorm approaching.

-Ahhh! What bliss awaits those three, a beautiful storm will be upon them very soon,” she smiles, cupping a snowflake in the palm of her hand, but it melts on contact with her skin on the spot. Too bad it will be the last snowfall for one of them.

His eyes darken more than usual, at that moment, a whirlwind of snow envelops his body which disperses on the spot.

She turned around and walked back to the hut, immediately in the distance she noticed the reddish liquid covering Shery’s body was rushing. She approached the chestnut and saw her eyes widen.

-You reacted, you’re strong for an old human,” she teased her.

But Shery’s eyes were static, her gaze had no life in it whatsoever. She looked more like dead. However, she could hear everything the witch said to her.

-You want to know how your husband’s crusade is going, huh? -You’re dying to know if he’s still alive and will come after you,” she smiles mischievously. Well, if that’s what you want, then; this will hurt.

The witch dips her hand into the water and a purple mist rises from her fingers, it begins to mix with the crimson liquid and eventually covers the entire pose.

Shery’s body began to shudder under her husband’s b***d, the witch was showing her everything that had happened in her encounter with Lucian. But just the fact that this woman was showing him what happened caused him a lot of pain.

When she showed him everything, she withdrew her hand and the b***d returned to its usual colour.

-My magic is too strong for a human like you, you are still alive because you remain immersed in the b***d of your wolf. The moon goddess chose it for you, and though you are not a wolf by birth you two are connected.

She stands up when she sees Shery stiffen again.

-All those scars on your body, and the one on your wrists? I see you tried to end your life when Daren abused you. Too bad it didn’t work! Death is a special thing.

Ethan’s b***d churned a little, as the mention of Daren didn’t seem to please Shery.

-You hate that name, huh? -she smiles. You should be thanking me for giving you a second chance in this world, Shery,” she turns around and lifts her dress. If it hadn’t been for me, you would have died that day you slit your wrists, you silly human.

The witch laughs loudly, then sits back in her chair made of thorns and feathers.

-How did you think I was going to let you ruin my plans, you idiot. I needed you, I needed you to stay with Ethan so he would come to me. I knew he would seek me out for your little immortality problem and I would ask him for a small favour in exchange for your salvation.

He chuckles secretly, covering his lips with his hand.

-But I tampered with things, sending a disease into your weak body. Who can blame me? -he plays the victim. You’re human, there are plenty of diseases in that forest. The only bad thing is that you fought against it so hard, and your beloved husband took so long to come to me.

She blurts out her words in fury.

-I made it possible for you to conceive your precious Adara, but when I took the lives of the other cubs, it wasn’t enough for you and you continued to breed. Don’t you understand? You are a weak human, you cannot carry the child of an alpha like Ethan in your womb.

He stands up and begins to walk around the pose.

-It seems so strange to me that Ethan didn’t realise that Adara was born barely. And that this little wolf has some very convenient gifts.

The b***d turns cloudy again, and the witch notices.

-Don’t worry, there’s nothing wrong with your daughter’s genes. I’ve created enough demons in this world.
