Chapter 156

Harvey paused for a moment. "I'm not trying to pressure her. I just want to have one last try."

"What if you still don't get the result you want even after trying?" replied Madison.

"I won't force her if I fail."

How could he bear to force her? How could he possibly force her?

Harvey left the house and headed to Locke Corporation.

After his departure, Wanda sighed and spoke in a voice tinged with worry, "Ms. Locke, do you think Mr. Locke can win her back?"

Wanda thought that Madison should know the answer as she was so skilled, but Madison replied calmly, "It's up to his fate. Every choice he makes will lead to a different outcome." Nate and his childhood mate were fated to be together, but because of his moment of hesitation, Megan found an opening. And so, a destined marriage was forever lost. Yesterday, she had divined that Harvey had no chance of seeing his destined love again, but the Halls stepped in, and somehow, they managed to meet.

Madison looked down at her hands, then raised her gaze to the clear blue sky. Was everything truly destined, or could people change fate by sheer will? She now had her answer. With a determined glint in her eye, Madison clenched her fist.

When Harvey arrived at Locke Corporation, he went straight to the chairman's office and laid out his plans to hand over his work. William rubbed his temples, clearly distressed. "You have so many responsibilities. If you hand everything over, who's going to take your place?"

Harvey replied bluntly, "I'm doing this to chase after my woman."

William was left speechless. He couldn't really refuse that reason.

He got up and walked over to his son, carefully inspecting Harvey's face. "Does it hurt? The hit from yesterday?"

""No, it doesn't."

William sighed. "Your mom and I talked to Becky last night, and she gave us her explanation."

Harvey looked up at William, his expression calm, showing no particular reaction.

With another sigh, William continued, "Becky was young then. She didn't know better. She told us that you had always said she was the person you loved most in the world. But on her birthday, instead of staying with her to cut the cake, you ran off to be with someone else.

"She felt betrayed and thought you had lied to her. And in her mind, Serena stole you from her. That's why she did what she did.

"Harvey, Becky was just a child back then. She didn't understand anything. All of her brothers spoiled her so much that she grew up thinking you all belonged to her."

William finished and looked to gauge Harvey's reaction, but Harvey's expression remained composed. There wasn't any anger over Rebecca's reasoning, nothing that indicated he was upset. Seeing this, William let out a breath of relief. "Becky's been feeling guilty about it for years. That's why she's been so invested in your love life and also why she eagerly introduced you to Farrah." Harvey gave a faint, mocking smile. "Is that all she said?"

William thought for a moment, then nodded.

"Did Rebecca apologize?"

William paused.

"If she truly believed she had done something wrong, why couldn't she even apologize? Why did she get you to pass along her excuses?" William instinctively defended Rebecca, saying, "She's afraid of upsetting you. You really scared her yesterday." Chapter TCD

Harvey laughed with sarcasm and shook his head. It was hard to tell if he was more disappointed in Rebecca, his parents, or perhaps even his past self.

"Dad, the company is in your hands now." He turned to leave, but he stopped at the door and added without turning around, "Dad, do you honestly believe that what Becky did was right?

"If it had been someone else's child who did this, would you think the same? Or is it just because she's Rebecca, the heiress of the Locke family? Because she's your daughter, our sister, that we've always indulged her without any limits?" William replied. "Maybe it's not Rebecca who's in the wrong. It's us. It's our fault that made her who she is today."
