The Luna’s Pure Heart – Chapter 38

(Eleanor pov)

After Jane slipped me some clothes, I quickly changed and wanted to get the hell out of here. I felt like a fool..why did I think things would be completely different after that? Could all of this just be the mating bond attraction for him and now that he had me he was done with me?

Those negative thoughts rushed through my head and I quickly shook them away. I needed to stop this vicious cycle of putting myself down.

No, I’m not going to think that way..he was obviously fine until he was linking with someone. He must have heard some type of bad news and had to go deal with it. We aren’t that close yet really, so I can’t expect him to tell me every little thing. I have to give him the benefit of the doubt and some time to feel comfortable enough to share with me.

Walking out of the bathroom, I saw Pierce waiting down the hallway for me. Why did this feel like a walk of shame? Like I was just caught doing something I shouldn’t have been doing. I will just act as if nothing happened..yeah, I’m sure he won’t believe that.

I now wore a blue sundress that went down to my knees. I had a feeling the party was pretty much over and didn’t even know how long I had been in the bathroom for but Damion did tell me to just go back to the room, so maybe he was done with the party as well, or did he go back to it?

I felt uneasy..uneasy and anxious. Like something inside of me was restless and I wanted to get out of here..I needed fresh air.

‘Please Elle, I need to get out.’

Kari whispered, confirming my feelings as I let out a deep sigh.

‘Okay, let’s go, I’m sorry I waited so long.’

I said quickly, feeling bad for keeping Kari cooped up all this time. I glanced toward Pierce as he finally met my gaze.

“Pierce, is it possible to go outside for a little..I just need some fresh air, please.” I asked softly, feeling like if he said no I would resort to begging on my knees..that’s how desperate I was.

His eyes clouded over, most likely asking for permission as he stood there waiting for a response. After a few minutes, they clouded once again and he glanced towards me.

“Yes, but the Gamma would like to join you.” He spoke firmly and his answer surprised me.

“Oh, okay sure.” I quickly sputtered out. That was an odd request, maybe because there are a lot of people here still so Damion wants me to be careful.

We started walking towards the side door where I saw Jake the Gamma waiting for us.

He smiled softly as I approached him, but his eyes almost looked full of worry. Was something going on that I didn’t know about?

“I hope you don’t mind if I join you.” Jake spoke softly as he looked towards me intently.

Before I could even answer, Lance walked up to us, a huge a*s smile on his face and his arms out wide.

“Got room for one more Angel.” He grinned from ear to ear.

“No.” I said sharply and turned to walk outside. I had almost forgotten I was still mad at Lance, but good thing he came here to remind me.

“Oh come on Angel, my plan worked, didn’t it? You two were looking quite cozy all night.” He chimed, elbowing me in the side as I shot him a sharp glare.

“Yeah, too bad it took half the men in the realm seeing my a*s to do that.” I snapped, crossing my arms as I heard Jake stifle a laugh.

Lance jogged in front of me, making me stop in place as he towered above my small frame.

“Please don’t be mad..I’m sorry, really..it was a poor choice on my part.” He admitted, his hands gripping together as if he were pleading with me.

Suddenly Jake leaned into me, speaking closely to my ear.

“My future Queen, I do think he could be begging much much harder, don’t you agree?” He whispered, the smirk on his face so clear in his voice.

“I do believe so Gamma, you are absolutely right.” I smiled widely, nodding my head as Lance glared at Jake, mentally punching him in the face.

Just then Lance kneeled down on the stone walkway, his hands slapping to the floor palm side down as he began rising and falling over and over again.

“Please your royal highness, forgive me, do not chop off my head for the mistakes I have made. You are so beautiful, no..the most beautiful in the entire realm my QUEEN.” He wailed quite dramatically..it was actually very embarrassing as two servers passed by, looking towards Lance and giggling profusely.

“Okay, okay, you are forgiven..” I waved my hand dismissively, trying to get him to stand as Jake began laughing his a*s off.

I reached for Lance’s arm, trying my hardest to pull him up as he continued wailing.

“Lance!” I yelled, making him rise as he had the smuggest look on his face I had ever seen.

“So kind of you my ruthless queen.” He bowed dramatically and I couldn’t help but punch him in the arm as I walked around him, trying to get as far away from this embarrassing display as possible.

“So dramatic.” I mumbled under my breath, feeling my cheeks warm as I walked out towards a garden path. The cool nights air was a huge relief as it blew against me gently.

“Where’s Lucas?” I turned my head, to look at Lance as he shrugged, glancing toward Jake briefly.

“Think he is making sure everyone can get home safely.” Lance said, not making eye contact.

Why was he acting so suspicious? Before I could enquire, Kari began pacing in my mind, reminding me why I was out here to begin with.

“Well, I um..I was wondering if it’s okay to let my wolf Kari out. She is really restless.” I said quickly, glancing towards Pierce for permission…not even sure why I was asking in the first place.

Pierce looked towards Jake and Lance, I guess he didn’t know either. It was hard not to laugh at how clueless we all looked.

“I don’t see why not, just stay close to us.” Jake said firmly and I nodded my head.

Looking down at my dress, I didn’t want to ruin it so I glanced around for a good place to hide..I guess a bush it is. I walked toward the huge shrub by the garden and stepped behind it.

“I will be quick.” I shouted towards them..well, I hope so anyway, considering this is my second time..I hope it’s not as painful this round.

I slipped off my dress, bra, and panties then placed them on the shrub. I heard a loud whistle like a cat call and then the sound of someone being hit and complaining. I chuckled softly to myself as I knew it was Lance who was just hit..he deserved it.

After taking off my shoes, I crouched down, trying to remember everything that Albert and Helen taught me. I slipped into the back of my mind and began feeling my b***d boiling like once before. My arms and legs began twisting and pulling and the pain came in a flash and then was gone just like that..wow..that was a lot easier than the first time.

Looking down I saw Kari’s silver paws and felt her joy radiating from within. She lifted her snout and sniffed the air with a deep inhaling breath.

‘Finally..thank you Elle, so much.’

She said happily and I could feel just how much she really needed this.

Stepping out from the bush, we were met with the sound of gasps.

“Holy shit.” Lance mumbled, looking toward Kari with awe.

He walked forward as Kari sat down like the regal queen she was. Lance reached his hand out, petting our silver fur as he couldn’t take his eyes off of us. Next was Jake, which surprised me, he walked up, doing the exact same as he pet us gently, and to my surprise he kneeled down before us..like actually kneeled and bowed his head. Then Pierce did the same, bowing his head and placing his fist above his heart.

“My Queen.” Jake spoke the words slowly.

Kari nodded her head once, showing her respect as Jake rose and shifted into a dark brown wolf right before our eyes. Not even caring about the nice suit he was wearing. He walked beside us, sitting down and waiting patiently. Next, Pierce shifted into his light brown wolf, then we looked towards Lance who didn’t take his eyes off of us once.

“Hey, I’m not ruining this badass suit..I’m using the bush.” He quipped, backing up and going behind the same bush we used.

I could tell Kari found him funny, she seemed to like Lance and his playful banter just as much as I did. She didn’t even bite him for making me wear that dress, I was surprised..I’m pretty sure she thought about doing it more than once throughout the night.

After Lance’s black wolf sauntered out from behind the bush, he walked over wagging his tail and nudging into Kari. Kari stood up, nudging him back, and then took off running faster than I had ever seen her. She howled into the night, her heart racing from the thrill of being free as she weaved through trees and jumped over rocks and fallen over logs.

I felt the three wolves on our tail. Lance’s wolf was named Ash, Jake’s was named Leo, and Pierce’s wolf’s name was Brutus. They all followed right behind me as Kari was having the time of her life. This was the first time she was truly out and free. Before we were being chased by Kane but now, she had the opportunity to actually explore and have fun.

We must if been running for ten minutes or so before something in the woods caught our attention..that familiar scent blew toward us in the wind.

‘Mate.’

Kari linked hastily, her feet taking a sharp right as she took off into the woods. It was Damion, he was out here. Was he looking for us? This scent seemed different..it seemed more powerful than I remembered.

Leo came bounding beside us, his eyes wide as he seemed to shake his head no, trying to stop us from finding our mate.

Kari didn’t care, she was on a mission, and she was more determined to find him than I ever thought she would be. Maybe she had fallen harder than I thought.

‘I just want to see his wolf.’

She snapped at me, not liking the comment I made.

I watched as she pushed her way through the forest, hurtling herself past the trees as a loud howl sounded behind us. It sounded almost like a pleading to come back. But Kari didn’t listen, he was close…really close.

Kari came to a clearing, finally slowing her pace as she silently crept towards our mate. He should be right up here..

She sniffed the ground and suddenly a huge object moved right across the clearing..this thing was massive..beyond huge. It was dark as night, its fur blending in with the surroundings as it stalked through the trees.

This was Damion’s wolf?! He was massive, his body at least five times as big as us..he brushed up against a tree, pushing on it as it swiftly fell to the ground like it was nothing.

How was he so huge? I have never seen or heard of a wolf being this big..

Kari stepped out, her paws silent as the night as she stalked forward, watching our mate pacing through the woods. He looked anxious..anxious and mad.

Suddenly Kari misjudged and stepped on a branch, snapping it in half and drawing the attention of this massive wolf. He snarled, his snout lifting in the air as he sniffed erratically. How did he not sense us before?

Kari continued her movements, walking towards this huge creature as the wolf now turned its attention to us.

‘Our mate’s wolf is named Titus.’

She whispered, the break from the silence almost startling me.

Titus turned towards us, stalking forward as Leo, Brutus, and Ash hurtled through the treeline, finally catching up to us, their eyes wide as they witnessed my mate walking over.

Ash slid in front of Kari, blocking our path as he tried to push us back. Kari growled possessively, nipping at Ash’s paws as Titus let out a low rumble, his noise making the ground tremble, causing Ash to whimper and slink away.

Wow was he powerful..

Kari practically purred at the sight of him, she was enthralled by this massive wolf, her body reacting in ways I didn’t think she ever would.

I was mesmerized by the way they moved, how Titus kept his blue eyes, Damion’s eyes, on Kari at all times. How his large paws moved silently and brought him closer to us with each step.

Just then we were nose to nose, Kari sniffed him gently, lowering her head, and nuzzled into him. This massive wolf melted beneath her touch, his eyes closing as she nudged him softly, her tongue slipping out and licking his snout, calming him immediately and taking care of him in a way only she knew how.

‘Our mate needs us.’

She whispered, brushing her shoulder along his side as she turned him gently. She ran off, the feel of Titus bounding behind us shook the earth as she led him deeper into the woods. Seeing how he looked at Kari, how this massive wolf seemed to trust her immediately, I couldn’t help but feel my heart swell. But I wished for a moment that Damion would look at me like that..at least our mate’s wolf seems to trust us.

We ran off, going for hours as Kari would stop and play with Titus every now and then, keeping him on his toes as she turned, playfully dodging around him as he snorted and nudged her down, hovering over our small frame as this giant wolf oh so carefully licked Kari with the most delicate touch. I could tell they wanted to mate, that Titus wanted to claim us but something was holding him back..and I knew it was Damion. Damion was the one that wasn’t ready…and that’s okay, it will take time but we will get there..after tonight I felt more hopeful than ever because he really did open up to me..he let me in, even if it was for the briefest moment.

I eventually fell asleep in the back of my mind, letting Kari have her time with our mate. She seemed so much more carefree and relaxed, it was a relief to know she felt a connection with our mate like I did.

We must have been in the woods all night because when I awoke, I had shifted back somehow and was now curled up beneath Titus. His deep black fur covered me as his chest rose and fell deeply. His eyes were closed tightly and his massive paw was draped over my side protectively as he warmed me with his radiating body heat.

‘We must have shifted after I fell asleep, we are still getting used to this and have to practice some more.’

Kari spoke softly, a clear smile in her voice.

I reached my hand up, threading my fingers through Titus’s thick fur as I watched him intently. He was absolutely incredible..his sheer size and power was almost overwhelming but I didn’t feel afraid…I felt grateful. Grateful that this man was my mate, that the moon goddess blessed me with this magnificent creature. Thank you, moon goddess, for gifting me this fate..with this beautiful wolf and I pray he gives me a real chance..a chance to show him how much I could truly love him because, after last night, I feel as if I am falling hard.
