The Luna’s Pure Heart – Chapter 69

(Eleanor pov)

Glancing outside, I watched as Pierce drove us up to two large gates with security posts on either side. We were in the middle of the thick lush forest, these trees a lot like the ones I grew up with in my old home.

After Pierce spoke to one of the guards standing post, they asked us to roll the back window down so they could see our faces and check our identities. Damion obliged and the guards looked between us with what seemed like a mixture of curiosity and fear. I smiled politely and Damion just continued staring. I guess he really isn’t too warm with other people outside of his inner circle.

“My King, My Queen.” The man said deeply, bowing his head with respect as Damion gave him a brief nod and I tried to give him a reassuring smile..I’m not sure how it looked to him but he seemed full of surprise by the gesture. I can only imagine what they expected the Queen to the so-called ruthless king would be like..why did I suddenly realize I could have rumors swirling around about me too? Let’s hope not..

The gates swiftly opened and Pierce drove us through, we had another car behind us with Lucas and a few other warriors in tow. Lance and Jake stayed behind at the castle and I could tell Lance wasn’t too happy about it..

I guess Damion chose Lucas to come and didn’t even give them the chance to decide. I think I can guess why Damion chose Lucas, but I still feel bad for Lance, he was giving me puppy eyes all dinner long last night.

I tried to tell him to look at it as a positive, that Damion trusts him to watch the whole castle..but we knew why he didn’t want him to go..because Damion wants to be as stress-free as possible, and Lance doesn’t exactly help him in that department.

Damion lifted up my hand slowly, bringing it up to his lips as he pressed a delicate k**s to my smooth skin.

‘Bunny, if any of this gets overwhelming for you, just link me that you need a break and I will whisk you away.’

He told me in a serious tone, continuing to place small k****s on my hand.

I couldn’t help but smile and instantly be put at ease..I don’t know why I’m so nervous..as long as I have Damion everything will be okay. It will just be weird combining my two worlds for the first time.

‘Thank you baby, same goes for you too though. If you need just time for us alone together, you know I understand that.’

Damion nodded his head and relaxed his shoulders a little. Me saying that seeming to help him already.

I know he has been feeling embarrassed by his clingy behavior lately, but I honestly don’t mind and Kari seems to love it. I haven’t seen her so content before..most times she just lays there and sighs happily like her mind is somewhere else..it’s almost freaking me out.

We rounded a corner and my eyes widened with amazement, up ahead was a beautiful town with a large river running right through the middle. The homes and shops were all built like cabins and beautiful tree-covered hills surrounded every side.

“Do you like it?” Damion asked, looking at my expression rather than the beauty outside.

“It’s amazing. Do you come to River Rock often?” I wondered what the people here thought of Damion as well.

“No this is my second time. I usually don’t visit the packs unless there are issues or big changes. I came here once before to instate the current Alpha. There were some issues with the last one, but Kilo seemed well-respected by his people and actually cared for them. I guess I was right because I didn’t have any reason to come back after that.” He spoke matter of fact.

His statement was so serious and to the point, I could see how people view him as ruthless, but I don’t think it’s in the way they think. I think Damion just wants these packs to be run well and doesn’t like when the Alpha abuses that.

Before I could respond the car came to a stop and we were now at another checkpoint. After Pierce confirmed who we were, we began driving up the long path that seemed to lead to the housing community. I noticed pups playing around outside and a few pack members staring at our car and linking to one another.

“Alpha Kilo mentioned that Helen and your friends share their own larger cabin other than the two mated girls.” Damion informed me and I couldn’t help but smile.

“That sounds like something they would do.” I couldn’t help but feel happy for all of them and yet, I suddenly felt a small pang of sadness. Like I had missed out on so much with them.

I guess now is the time to make up for that, we will be here for at least three days, and I can’t wait to see them.

I started to get antsy, my butt moving to the edge of my seat as I peered out the window. We were passing dozens of cabins and I kept wondering which one was theirs. Then we turned right and were now facing a huge manor made from logs and stones..this must be the pack house. It looks so beautiful and welcoming with the hills and trees surrounding it. The walls had green ivy plants climbing up every wall and gorgeous red rose bushes were planted on every corner. It reminded me of something out of a fairytale.

“Okay, this is where we are staying with the Alpha and his Luna.” Damion grabbed my hand, holding it tight as Pierce exited the car and came to open our door. I could see a group of people standing outside and suddenly reality hit.

I am the Queen now, maybe I should have thought about this more..is there a certain way I have to greet them or a certain way I have to act?! Why didn’t I get some type of briefing about this?

‘Hey, calm down..just be yourself, that is more than enough.’

Damion swooped into my mind, feeling my turmoil through the bond as I let out a deep steadying breath and nodded my head.

“Give me a k**s Bunny.” He added quickly, leaning into me as I pressed my lips to his, feeling all my worries melt away.

Then the door opened and Damion slid out first, helping me right after. I stood up slowly, breathing in the crisp mountain air as a sense of peace filled me. This place felt different, nothing like b***d moon ever did. It felt more natural and earthy like my wolf side was welcoming the nature.

I took a step forward, I decided to wear a modest yellow sundress with white flowers and buttons that go all the way down to the bottom with mid-length sleeves. considering this is our first meeting and I had to sit in the car for five hours.

Damion wore a light blue dress shirt and dark blue pants, he looked as sharp as usual and his hair was left down. He looked handsome as hell and it was hard not to keep stealing glances. I could feel his strong aura pulsing from him, and everyone around us looking at him with awe and amazement. Maybe a little fear too, but I know that’s natural with him because of Titus.

Looking ahead, I saw a man with mocha-colored skin and black hair that was up in a bun. He looked to be in his early thirties and was a very handsome man. I suspected it was Alpha Kilo and the woman on his arm must be his Luna. She was a gorgeous woman with caramel skin and hair that was dark brown with lighter golden highlights. The thing that stood out the most was her stunning green eyes that pierced right through me. She looked like a very strong fierce woman and I couldn’t help but smile at her, which she promptly returned. Two other men were standing beside them with their mates as well.

I could tell by their auras they were the Beta and Gamma. They looked between me and Damion with stoic expressions.

The women were much more welcoming though, but I couldn’t help but notice their discreet glances towards my mate and reddening cheeks.

Walking forward Damion stood tall and proud, his hand holding mine tightly as he squeezed it reassuringly. I tried my hardest not to look around for Helen, but I should have known the Alpha would have wanted to greet us first. That is probably customary anyways.

“King Damion, it is so wonderful to see you again.” Alpha Kilo spoke first, his deep voice strong and full of confidence.

“Alpha Kilo, Luna Crystal, thank you for having me and my Queen to River Rock.” Damion responded, seeming to surprise everyone with his kind tone and words.

“May I present to you my future Queen, Eleanor Winters.” Damion introduced me while looking down into my eyes, making me smile up at him lovingly as he stroked the back of my hand gently.

Suddenly I realized the group before us had gone silent and I turned my attention back to them.

“So it is true, the King was mated with a blessed wolf.” One of the women blurted, she had brown hair and blue eyes, her body was curvy and she seemed young like me. Her mate snapped his head to her like she just said something super offensive and couldn’t help but smile at the girl.

“It appears so, even though we are still figuring out what being a blessed wolf is all about.” I laughed, looking over at Damion as he smiled softly.

Everyone seemed to relax from my response, even offering me a smile.

“Well, whatever the meaning, it would seem fitting the goddess has paired you with the king. It seems to be her way of telling the realm our King is in his rightful place.” Alpha Kilo added, surprising me as Damion nodded his head in thanks to the Alpha, seeming taken aback as well.

“Would you like a tour of the pack house and our grounds?” Alpha Kilo asked, changing the subject and motioning towards their beautiful home.

“That would be lovely.” I smiled, looking over to Damion who was linking with someone. It must have been Lucas because I saw him walking toward the River Rock warriors and speaking with them.

‘Just making sure Lucas gets access to all of the resources here. We do need to be very careful Bunny, I never want you to go anywhere alone without me or one of our men okay?’

He linked me swiftly and I nodded my head, squeezing his hand and holding it close to me.

Alpha Kilo began to walk forward and I noticed the other woman that was with them kept glancing over towards me. She has blonde hair and light brown eyes, she wore glasses and was very tall and slender.

I smiled kindly toward her and she stepped closer speaking quietly.

“My name is Sara, I am the Gamma’s mate..it’s so lovely to meet you. I have heard so much about you from Rachel.” She smiled at me sweetly and I could feel my heart beating with excitement.

“Rachel, is she doing okay? I was so worried about her..I can’t wait to see her.” The words came tumbling out of my mouth.

“Yes she is doing great, she has come a long way since first coming here but she helps out in our public library now. She keeps to herself mostly, when she does talk though, it’s usually about you or her other pack mates. Of course, we didn’t realize that her Eleanor would be the same as the mysterious Queen we have heard about until a week ago..so it was hard putting the two together.” She chuckled and I instantly liked this Sara woman..if Rachel trusts her, then she must be a really kind person. Rachel has always been a good judge of character. I can’t wait to see them..

Damion continued to hold my hand tightly as we walked up the steps to the pack house.

“This house has been here for hundreds of years, my Queen, I don’t know if you know much about the history of our realm..but River Rock was one of the first packs formed in these lands. This river was the lifeline to these lands and was said to be gifted from the moon goddess herself. I will have to tell you the story sometime, if you are interested.” Alpha Kilo offered kindly but I could tell Damion didn’t like the attention he was giving me..even though it wasn’t anything harmful I know this is just as new for Damion as it is for me.

“We would love to hear it, even though I’m sure My King already knows all about it. He seems to pull this stuff from thin air and shock me at the most random of times.” I teased, knowing Damion really has studied the history of this realm more than anyone.

“I do like to keep you on your toes.” Damion quipped back, shocking everyone with his playful banter. I smiled up at him brightly, earning my own dazzling smile back. Then he looked ahead once more, his serious Alpha King presence back like nothing ever happened.

“Uhh, well then, let’s..let’s show you the house.” Alpha Kilo stuttered out, never seeing or hearing of the king behaving like this.

The three girls seemed to be stifling giggles and the Gamma and Beta were glaring at them.

We quickly did a tour of the massive manor and they then showed us to our room, informing us that lunch will be served in an hour and to make ourselves at home.

This room was massive and it actually looked newly built..like I mean brand new this week. They didn’t do all of this just for us, did they? It looked almost like they knocked down a wall between two rooms and made us one massive room.

Damion walked towards the biggest bed I have ever seen and plopped down on it.

“Bunny, come snuggle.” He g*****d, making me giggle as I walked over towards him.

I stepped right between his legs as he looked up at me with a goofy grin. His hands finding my waist as he rubbed soft circles against my back.

“I wonder if Helen and everyone else are coming to lunch with us. Maybe I should call her and tell her we arrived.” I said while biting my l*p nervously.

“Wait, just lay with me first. I just want to hold you.” He pulled me down on top of his long muscular body. His arms circling around me as he hugged me tightly and took a deep breath, inhaling my scent.

“Does this room look like it was just built to you?” He asked, looking around curiously and I laughed.

“That’s what I thought too. Maybe they thought the Alpha King would snap if he didn’t get a luxurious room.” I whispered, teasing my mate as he rolled his eyes.

“Sadly, that’s probably true. Did you see their eyes practically bulge out of their heads when I smiled at you?” He asked while looking down at me.

“Yes, but this is a good time to show them who you really are. How kind, funny, and compassionate you are..not to mention extremely handsome and..” I kept going, trying to boost my mate up as he quickly put his hand over my mouth.

“Okay, I get it, if you don’t stop now you know it will go straight to my head.” He smiled down at me and I couldn’t help but laugh.

Damion moved his hand down, his fingers tracing my lips as he looked at me with wonder.

“You know one smile from you, sometimes that alone fixes everything.” He whispered, making me crawl up on his chest further, my mouth pressing against his as those words caused my stomach to flip.

“I love you so much.” I mumbled against him, my hand now cupping his face as I placed small k****s on each corner of his mouth.

Suddenly my phone began to ring, startling me as I looked behind us at the desk across the room.

“Maybe that’s them.” I said excitedly and hopped off of Damion, walking over to the desk.

Sure enough, there was Helen’s name on the screen. I took a deep breath, excited to see her soon as I quickly answered the phone.

“Hello?” I answered quickly.

“Elle, I’m almost to your room, I can’t wait any longer to see you.” And with that, there was a quick knock at the door.

I looked back at Damion who stood up with wide eyes, I could feel his nerves through our bond.

“Well, I guess you’re going to meet her sooner than we thought.” I smiled sheepishly and walked to the door. knowing Damion was getting more nervous by the second.

Let’s hope this goes well..somehow this sinking feeling isn’t making me feel that way..why do I feel like Helen is going to make Damion sweat more than he ever has in his life.
