Gamma Kailen Steele

It terrified me that someone was in our room last night. I believed that having all the warriors here would help me feel safe, but I was wrong. I let my guard down and now I'm trying to figure out a way to protect myself and my family. I know Hunter is worried about me and our pup, but if anything were to happen to him, I would finally break. He is my safety, my home, and I would be empty without him. Even with our child, I don't think I could ever live without him. A knock on the door pulled me from my thoughts. Hunter asked me to call Dr. Connors. He just wanted to make sure everything was okay with the baby, as this has put me under a lot of stress. Aurora said our baby is good, growing and healthy, but I think he just needs reassurance right now.

Hunter rose from his seat beside me in the seating area and answered the door. Dr. Connors greeted her prince before stepping into the room. She sat in the chair beside me, and Hunter sat down beside me on the couch. "Gamma, how are you feeling?" She asked me.

"I've been really stressed and worried. Aurora says that everything with the baby is good, but we are just worried," I told her.

"Any bleeding or pain?" She asked me and I shook my head.

"Prince Hunter, can you hear the baby's heartbeat?" She asked him. He lifted my shirt and pushed his ear into my belly. A smile spread across his lips as he listened.

"I can." He said, still listening.

"Then I don't think there is anything to worry about. Just drink plenty of water and eat." She said. And I nodded. Hunter was still listening to our baby.

"Kailen, what happened?" She asked me and I sighed.

"Someone found out I'm pregnant and left a note in our room last night. My father's former beta and his sister knew I was pregnant because of the changes to my scent and aura. My mother went through the same thing when she was pregnant. But Cathy said that my changes were stronger." I explained.

"My wolf noticed that as well. She says your aura is stronger and more demanding. Have you tried to command anyone?" She asked me.

"Well, to be fair, Hunter is the only one here that out ranks me by title, but since he's my mate, we are equals." I told her.

"I have an idea. I'm going to stand and I want you to command me to sit." She said, standing from her seat.

"Doctor, are you sure that's safe?" Hunter asked, sitting up.

"It's perfectly safe and if she can command others, it will help keep her safe. Now command me to sit." She said.

"Sit down," I said. I was unsure how to use my aura. I never had to use it before. The doctor shook herself but didn't sit. "Force your energy out, baby." Hunter whispered to me.

"Again." Dr. Connors commanded.

"Sit down." I growled out, pushing my energy out. I didn't expect Dr. Connors to drop to the couch and start whimpering in pain.

"s**t, I'm so sorry." I rushed out, trying to pull it back. As soon as it dropped, she let out a breath.

"Kailen, I don't even think Prince Hunter's is that strong."

"Baby, I felt it. The pressure was intense," Hunter said, and I looked over at him. He was smiling at me.

"At least I know I can command others, but I'll have to test it on an alpha." I said.

"I'm an alpha's daughter." Dr. Connors said, and I looked at her in shock.

"What?" I asked her.

"My brother took over the pack, and I became a doctor. If you can command me like that, then all the alphas here should watch out." She chuckled.

"Thank you, doctor. We really appreciate it." Hunter said with a hand over my belly.

"It's my pleasure, my prince. Kailen, breakfast should be almost ready. You need to eat." She reminded me. Standing up from her seat, I stood up with her and Hunter followed.

"We will be down there soon." Hunter told her before she left. After she was gone, I let out a breath.

"Told you." Aurora huffed.

"And I trust you. I'm just scared." I told her.

"Why didn't you tell me about my aura?" I asked her.

"Because you don't want to know," she said, and I sighed.

"Hunter, do you want to know what we are having?" I asked him. He had moved into the closet. He instantly poked his head out to look at me. "Really?" he asked me, confused.

"Aurora won't give me any information until I know. And I want to know if you want to know?" I asked him again.

"She knew about your aura?" he asked me, and I nodded.

"Then let's know." He said, moving to the couch that I sat back down on.

"Okay," I breathed out.

"Aurora, what are we having?" I asked her.

"We are having a girl." She said, and I let out a breath.

"It's a girl," I exclaimed to Hunter.

"And," Aurora dragged out.

"What?" I asked her, confused.

"And we are having a boy." she exclaimed, wagging her tail. I looked at Hunter, shocked.

"Kailen, what's wrong?" He rushed out.

"And a boy," I whispered.

"What?" Hunter exclaimed, moving to sit on the coffee table in front of me.

"Aurora says we are having a girl and a boy," I mumbled, looking at him. I was still in shock. How did the doctor miss another baby?

"He's hiding behind his sister, and their heartbeats are in sync." Aurora answered my thought.

"Twins?" Hunter said, and I nodded.

"Really?" He rushed out, and I nodded again. I knew I had tears in my eyes. Not only are we pregnant, but we are having twins. Hunter wrapped his arms around me and crushed me on the couch. We were both laughing as he tried to move off of me.

"We are having a girl and a boy." He grinned before crushing his lips into mine. Nothing could ruin this good mood. "That's why my aura is stronger, because I'm pregnant with both?" I asked Aurora.

"Bingo."

Hunter pulled away and rested his forehand against mine. He was now sitting beside me on the couch.

"We should probably get those two fed." He chuckled, and I laughed.

"That's why my aura is so strong. I'm carrying both." I said.

"And I couldn't be happier," he said, kissing my forehead.

"Now, let's get you three fed." Hunter said, pulling me up off the couch. I was already dressed, so Hunter led me to the door to leave, his hand wrapped in mine.

"I love you so much, Kailen." He said, spinning me into him.

"I love you so much, my king." I told him, pecking his lips and he smiled against mine.

I couldn't help the smile on my face as we walked hand in hand into the dining room. There was a buffet breakfast laid out and guests could go up and choose what they would like, or order something from the kitchen. Even after last night, I couldn't be happier and I also have a weapon, my command. I was feeling more confident, as dealing with these alphas will be easier now. I took a seat beside Cathy again and Hunter insisted on getting me a plate of food.

"French toast." I mindlinked him.

He turned around, and I gave him a smile. He went back to what he was doing, and I turned my attention to Cathy.

"You seem chipper this morning." She giggled.

"It's been a wonderful morning." I told her, grinning.

"Princess Kailen, don't you look glowing this morning," Alpha Ivan said from across the table. Eli and his father were just taking their seats.

"Good morning, Alpha Ivan, Mr. Cooper. I hope you had a great night." I grinned at them, and it would seem my good mood was rubbing off on people. Alpha Ivan actually smiled back at me. "Miss Steele." Mr. Cooper greeted me.

"It would seem that you had a great night." Alpha Ivan said, before taking a sip of his coffee.

"It was wonderful. I'm so thankful that I have my mate with me. It's a shame your Luna couldn't join us." I said.

"She had a family emergency she needed to attend to," he answered.

"I hope everything is okay." I said, and I didn't miss Eli shaking his head at me.

"I spoke with her last night and everything is getting better." He answered, and I gave him a smile.

"That's good to hear, and I would love to meet her. You have both raised such a wonderful son," I said with a smile.

"Ive heard nothing but good things about you as well." Alpha Ivan said, and Eli pulled a face, making me laugh.

"Thats good to hear," I said before Hunter placed a plate of French toast in front of me. He leaned down and kissed my cheek before sitting down in his chair at the head of the table.

"Thank you, sweetie." I said to him and he gave me a smile. Zach and Greyson also took their seats, and they both gave me a look. They must be confused about my mood after last night. But even if I was still scared, I would show no weakness in front of these alphas.

"Kailen, what are your plans for the future?" Cathy asked me, while I started eating.

"Hunter is building us a house. They should have broken ground already." I answered after swallowing my bite.

"That's so exciting. Not planning the wedding?" Cathy asked.

"Nothing is confirmed yet. We should probably pick a date." I answered her.

"We have a date." Hunter said, and I whipped my head to look at him. He was smirking.

"The day we met," he said in my head. Tears swelled in my eyes as I stared at my amazing mate.

"We have a date." I told Cathy, turning back to our conversation.

"Eek," she squealed and everyone at the table looked at us and we both started laughing.

"You need to let me take you dress shopping." She exclaimed.

"I would be honoured." I told her, and she wrapped an arm around my shoulders in a side hug.

"I am so proud of you," She whispered. Looking around the table, everyone was watching my interaction with Cathy.

"Princess Kailen, how do you know Cathy?" Alpha Ivan asked.

"She raised me." I answered. He looked stunned at first, but quickly hid his shock.

"Interesting." was all Alpha Ivan said.

"Kailen, an alpha and his party will arrive soon," Hunter said, and I nodded to him.

"Come to our room later. We can get ready for the party together." I told Cathy, and tears swelled in her eyes.

"Of course, my dear." She said, patting my hand.

Hunter offered me his hand, and I took it. He was already standing. He excused us and we made our way to the foyer to meet the arriving alpha. The feeling of having some control over this situation made me feel better about being here. I felt like I could relax and enjoy some of the time here, and maybe that would make others feel at ease and they would spill the beans about what is actually going on.

After all the other alphas arrived, it was time for the party and the meeting with all the alphas. I knew I could command the truth out of them if needed. I wonder if this is why Hunter always seems so in control? He could command anyone and I never bothered to use my aura before and I have to stop myself from getting a fat head about it. This evening was definitely going to be interesting, I thought, as I made my way up to our room with Hunter.

"How are you feeling, baby?" he asked me.

"I'm good. How are you feeling about this?" I asked him, and he gave me a smile.

"Better."
