The Lycan Series
Bullied By The Lycan King Chapter 60

Violet's POV

"It will explain why she has a veil on and the classic attitude. This was the exact way Willow behaved," Greg continued explaining, and I could feel the bitterness in his voice.

"But why would she want Axel dead? She had a problem with his mother, not him... right?" I asked, unable to understand where the feud was coming from.

Again Greg glanced at me and smiled. "You are so innocent, Violet. You don't know how people's minds work... Willow is driven by vengeance, she always felt like Avalyn stole her place when she had given it to her on a silver platter," he explained. I blinked and shook my head. If I wanted to understand where all of this hatred and need for vengeance was coming from, I needed to know the entire story.

"Beta Greg, why did King Talon marry Avalyn if he already had a wi-mate that was even a werewolf?" I asked.

"Talon needed a child and Willow could not make him one after several years of their bonding. And as you already know, a Lycan King needs to have a child..." He said and I nodded in understanding.

Ever since Emily came, she hadn't wasted a chance to remind me that I needed to make an heir.

"Willow suggested that Talon get a breeder and Avalyn's father happened to be selling her. I bought her from her cruel father and brought her to our world..."

As he spoke, I could feel the change in his voice. Avalyn must have really touched his soul.

"It was hard but in the end, Talon found a way to love the both of them but Willow was overwhelmed with jealousy. This pushed her to the point where she betrayed her mate..."

The underlying bitterness in his voice returned but I somehow understood this Willow woman. No wife would want to give away her husband, even if it had been her idea from the very beginning. "What did she do?" I asked in a small voice.

"She tried to kill Avalyn multiple times and not just that, we discovered that she had been using birth control pills. She also went as far as conniving with the enemy to end Talon... In the end, Talon had no choice but to break ties with her."

We got to the corridor that led to his office and he stopped.

"How did he break ties -did he get a divorce?"

Greg shook his head at my question. "No, that is close to impossible. He could have rejected her but Talon loved her too much. Rejecting her would have brought too much pain, so he threw her in the dungeon and forgot about her existence," he said and my brows raised.

I understand that she had betrayed the king and maybe even the entire kingdom when she connived with an enemy but throwing her in the dungeon and leaving her to rot there was a little too much but who was I to question their laws?

"During the revolution attack, a lot of people got killed, we thought she didn't make it out... but with what is written on that wall, I have a strong feeling that the Widow is Willow," he finished.

If there was one thing I got from the take, it was that this Willow woman could have been alive and she was obsessed with ending Avalyn's family, and that included killing Axel.

But I would never let that happen. Not on my watch. Axel might have been very harsh but he treated his slaves and workers with fairness. If there was anyone worthy to rule the lands, it wasn't even my parents but it was Axel. Determined to help Axel in any manner that I could, I fisted my hands and looked straight into beta Greg's eyes.

"Is there any way that I can help with this?"

He looked at me from head to toe, contemplating if he should trust me or not...

"Well, you can speak to your parents. They might know where she is," he suggested and I nodded, suddenly remembering that I also had to ask them about the attacks. "Yeah, sure. I can do that-"

"Beta, we have found Thalia, she is in her room but Savannah is nowhere to be found," a guard's deep voice suddenly filled the space, interrupting me.

"Okay, I will handle it," he replied to the guard and then turned to me.

"You should go speak to your parents while I deal with Thalia," he said with a stern sexy look.

"But I want to come too," I blurted out already gripping hard unto the doors

"We are running out of time here. It will be best you go gather what information you can about her whereabouts," he insisted.

My hands balled into fists as I prepared to argue but I knew that would be pointless, I had to do what I was told.

"Okay," I muttered and turned away from him at once.

I retraced my steps back to the dungeon, this time I had no fear within me because I now had Greg's permission no one could stop me.

As I got to the entrance, I met a different guard.

"Good morning ma'am, what can I help you with?" He asked.

"The Beta has sent me to speak to my parents. You can call him if you doubt it," I replied.

The guard stared at me closely before stepping out of the way. I didn't even wait for him to usher me in before I started marching down to my parents' cell. "Mum! Dad!" I called as I reached their cell. "Where is she?"

My father came to stand by the bar and I saw my mum also walking towards it, behind him.

"Is it done?" My father asked instead.

My eyes narrowed as I tried to understand what he said in relation to what I had asked him but it made no sense at all.

"Have you killed him?" He asked again.

It was then it occurred to me what he was going on about and my heart sank. My parents were never going to change.

If there was one thing I got from the take, it was that this Willow woman could have been alive and she was obsessed with ending Avalyn's family, and that included killing Axel. "We are hearing the commotion above. Has the deed been done?"

Rather than respond to his question I decided to ask what I came for.

"Father, did you sell your invention to the werewolves?"

Surprise flashed on his face but he quickly pushed it away and got it replaced by a frown instead.

"What are you going on about?" He growled.

"You developed a way to suppress their wolves. You did it to Axel and some of the other wolves. Now, another Lycan seems to be doing it to other wolves, did you sell it to someone?"

I could see comprehension flow through his eyes and I knew he understood exactly what I was talking about.

"What is your business if I sell my skill to anyone?" He asked and the pride in his voice caused an irritating itch to begin under my skin.

"Because this person you sold it to is evil. He hates humans and treats them like dogs. Axel is trying to stop him and we need to know who he is-"

My words hung in my mouth as my father broke into a burst of laughter. He stared at my mum and they shook their heads as the laughter intensified.

"Can you believe this? What a stupid daughter you have!" He said through laughter.

I looked between both of them trying to understand what I said that was wrong.

"Father, this is our people I am worried about. You need to tell me who you sold it to so that Axel can stop him-"

"Shut up!" He yelled, his thick voice echoing in the walls of the dungeon. "Can you listen to the rubbish that you are saying?"

I looked at my mother, hoping she could defend me but she had the same angry look as my father.

"Axel will stop him... Axel will do that... Axel, Axel! I am sick of hearing that name!" He cried out.

"Do you really think that wolf boy is going to save our people?" My mother said and I turned my confused eyes to her.

"Mum, yes, Axel will do just that. He is a fair king and he has-"

"Violet! When are you going to grow up?" She snapped. "Axel is your enemy, not your friend. He can't help you or your people!"

"But he is helping them!" I retorted. "He has moved every human into the main house. This way if an attack comes, they won't be an isolated target! Can't you see-"

"No!" My father erupted. "I can't see that! All I can see is a foolish daughter who doesn't understand where her loyalty should lie and who is being deceived by a wolf's cock!" "Father!"

"Do not call me that!" He snapped and I felt the air in my lungs get knocked out.

"No daughter of mine would be as foolish as you have been! You were given a simple task: kill the silly idiot and rescue your parents but as you stand before me, I know you have failed!"
