The Lycan Series
The Lycan King’s Breeder Chapter 25

Greg's POV

"You're here." Talon greeted me. Something about his burst of energy was a little unnerving to me, and I wasn't sure what was going on, but I was curious to find out why he seemed to be in a good mood when we had war brewing. "Yes, Alpha. I left the training ground as soon as I heard you needed me." I replied. I had been training the new recruits on the field, they were getting better but I could tell we still had a long way to go.

"How is it training going so far?" He asked, watching me with an intense gaze, as he leaned back into the black leather chair behind his desk.

"Very well. The recruits are doing well, there's a lot they still need to learn, but it's coming out good so far." I said. "Perhaps, if you're free tomorrow, you could come down there and take a look. You'll be happy with their progress." He sat quietly for a moment, just watching me. I could tell the main reason he called me wasn't to ask about training.

"Yes, I will. But I have something else I called you here for."

There it was, the true reason why I was summoned.

I leaned in close, trying to be more attentive. "What is your request, Alpha?" I asked.

Talon looked up at me and seemed to find amusement in my reaction. "Calm down Greg, It's not so serious."

I wasn't sure if Talon was drunk, or high -I didn't think a Lycan like him, could even get drunk or high- His actions completely baffled me, and that was something I didn't take lightly.

He was acting unusually happy.

"What's going on?" I asked cautiously. As soon as the question left my lips, I watched he'd his demeanor change.

He crossed his hands as he glared at me. "Excuse me?"

I tried not to roll my eyes as I said, "No offense, Alpha. You just seem to be in a good mood this morning, and please excuse my honesty, but that's rare."

Talon's glare intensified. "I'm just glad we're preparing for battle, that's all."

Yeah, like I believed that.

"Oh course, Alpha." I quickly agreed, since there was no point in arguing.

"We have visitors coming..." Talon stated, getting down to business, but he kept his glare fixed on me. "Alpha Tristan from Moonstone is coming with his son, Monty, to visit our sister pack, they'll be resting here for a few days before continuing on their journey."

I was taken a bit by surprise because visitors were generally not welcomed by Talon, due to security concerns and his dislike for meaningless social events. Plus, people feared us. Even if Talon extended an invitation, they would most likely decline it.

If they came then they most likely feared death. Talon always included a secret threat in all his invitations.

"Oh... Okay." I quickly adjusted my attitude. "I'll make sure their rooms are sorted."

Talon didn't miss the look of shock on my face, he raised a brow as he asked, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing. Just surprised, really. It isn't exactly like you to host anyone," I said with a small chuckle.

"Trust me, I'm not thrilled about it too." He sighed. "But he was adamant, and I didn't want my cousin to be upset, Tristan is his guest after all. I'm not offending a guest who's helping us win the war."

I understood how things had escalated. Talon was under quite a lot of pressure to build up the defensive line and the alliance. We were preparing as much as we could, but Desmond's rogues were getting too close for comfort.

This Alpha's visit wasn't something Talon was happy about, but at this point, any help would count. Otherwise, Talon would never allow such potential distraction into our territory.

"Don't worry. I'll make sure meals are properly arranged during their stay here, as well." I added, knowing it was customary to do so.

Talon sighed, "Yeah, I suppose that would be the polite thing to do," he said through gritted teeth.

Now, that was the Alpha I knew him to be.

I began to turn away, but then stopped. "May I ask a question?"

"Go ahead, and make it quick." He gritted out again.

"Avalyn... What would you like done about her situation, while the guests are here?" I asked. I could tell he didn't want to share her presence with anyone if he didn't absolutely have to. Another Alpha coming in was going to complicate things. He thought over the question and then quickly said, "She's in my wing, and can remain there for the days they are here."

"Very well then. I'll let Dawn know as well." As I turned to go, his voice stopped me.

"I don't want anyone from Moonstone to know why she's here, Greg," he said firmly.

"Understood," I said as I walked out of his office.

The days passed by quickly and as expected, the arrival of the Alpha came.

As their car pulled into the long driveway of that pack house, Talon and I went to greet them. I wasn't sure what to expect, but of course, they were all the same in the end.

Alpha Tristan was a tall man, but not as big as Talon, as he stepped down from his tinted-out SUV, his wealth was on full display. From his expensive designer clothing to the shining jewelry, everything about him dripped money. "Alpha Tristan, welcome." Talon greeted firmly.

It was clear he wasn't pleased about this man being in his territory, but he was doing what needed to be done to maintain peace between our packs.

"Thank you for having us," Tristan replied. His grin showed off all his pearly white teeth.

He turned, he held his hand out to a tall brunette man that had been behind him the entire time. "And this is my son, Monty," Tristan stated with a smile. "We're hoping to find him a good match here in the capital. He is of age and has a strong bloodline to support any eager werewolf who wants an adequate mate."

Monty rolled his brown eyes at his father's words. "I'm only twenty-three, Father. There's still plenty of time to find me a mate." His deep voice rolled out.
