The Lycan Series
Bullied By The Lycan King Chapter 19

Violet's

POV

"She will get to it right away." Hilda bowed once again and then turned to me. "Hera's room is next door after this. Go check if she needs anything."

"Of course." I blurted and turned to leave but Savannah's voice stopped me.

"Wait!" She called.

I stopped in my tracks and turned to her. "Yes... Ma'am?"

"Why not come over and clean my back? You can check on Hera later," she stretched her long arm out of the water and wiggled her fingers. "I can't seem to get it no matter what I do."

From her tone, I could tell she was going to be trouble but I swallowed my thoughts and smiled at her.

"Of course." I nodded and moved over to her.

She handed me the sponge she was using and I started working on her back as best as I could.

"Hmm, Thalia you should try this... Her soft royal hands are so much better than yours... In your next life try to be a princess instead," Savannah moaned, dramatically increasing her tone as I washed her back. Thalia's eyes narrowed and I could tell that Savannah's comments were meant to hurt her but she smiled.

"I'd rather return to my bed, Savannah. Enjoy the slave today, I won't be needing her help. I am going to need all the sleep I can get before Axel returns home." Savannah wiggled her shoulders, obviously enjoying the drama she was making.

"Hmmm, you should rest, he slept in my room last night. I am sure he would come to you before coming over to mine," she replied with a sly grin on her face.

"Quit making yourself feel special, Savannah. We all know the King doesn't spend the night in our rooms!"

"Oh, speak for yourself. I broke that rule a long time ago," she giggled, splashing the water about like a little child's first time in a pool.

"Move your hands lower, dear," she whispered, directing my hands.

My eyes moved between the two of them in shock. Were they silently fighting over Axel? Was this how it was in the mansion between them?

While Savannah was slowly starting the fire, Thalia was taming the flame. If the third one was anything like them, then I was seriously starting to reconsider this duty.

The tension in the hall shifted as the two women continued exchanging words, aiming to hurt one another. I could almost feel the heat from their exchange against my skin. Suddenly, Hilda cleared her throat and the bickering between the two women stopped at once.

"I shall take my leave now. I hope you ladies can behave yourselves till the King returns," she said, through gritted teeth but her face sported a smile.

"Sure," Savannah said with a chuckle while Thalia only nodded.

I looked at Hilda, hoping she would take me with her but she gave me a curt nod and left the hall.

Almost as soon as she left, Thalia also strutted out, leaving me alone with Savannah.

"You shouldn't pay attention to Thalia... She considers herself special because her father was an old-time alpha... They call her lady and she thinks she is on top of the world... Disgusting!" My eyes enlarged in shock. I didn't know what to tell her. Was I supposed to give her a response?

Why was she even telling me that?

Before I could make up my mind on what to do, she held my hand, stopping me from working the sponge on her back and she turned to look at me. "Are you mute, Violet?"

"No. I am... Not," I quickly replied.

Her face broke into a smirk and she corked her head to the side. "You are beautiful. I will give you that..."

Then she pulled herself out of the water and stood in her birthday suit right in front of me.

I wanted to turn around because it was the most lady-like thing to do but her sharp brow eyes were like enchanting ropes that kept me from moving.

I watched as she slowly stepped out of the water, her curvy wet body glistering under the light as she took a step closer to me.

"The king has never called a slave to dine with us until you came... What's your story, princess?"

She started moving around me, circling me like a predator testing its prey.

My heart started ramming into my chest as her eyes turned from curious to vicious.

She stretched her fingers closer to my skin and her nails grew longer before my eyes till they became claws, sharp as blades on a butcher's table.

"I do not really enjoy being ignored, princess..." Her sharp claws were now on my shirt and as she clawed her way down, she played with the buttons.

"I... Don't-" My throat suddenly felt try and I hated how she embedded fear in me with her actions. I swallowed my fear and squared my shoulders.

"I don't have a story. I am just... I am just a girl that got bought."

Her claws stopped moving over my shirt and she stopped right in front of me.

"Hmmm, a girl with fire in her voice... A true princess," she whispered. "I think your story goes beyond that but let's presume you don't have a story... I have a story for you!" Her sharp claws moved to my shoulder and she tested its sharpness on the material, cutting through till she got to my bare skin.

"The King is mine. I do not like competition. I can tolerate Thalia and maybe Hera... But a human girl... Even if she is a princess-"

"Arg!" I hissed as her sharp claws cut through my skin.

"Ouch, that must be very painful for a weak creature like you," she whispered, pulling her claws to herself.

"Why did you-" I held back my tongue and glared at her.

Did she have to cut me?

"Oh, that was just a little welcome speech to remind you to keep your beautiful eyes to yourself."

Her eyes sparkled as she spoke and I was certain that she was crazy. She couldn't have a normal brain.

"Now, be a doll and pass me a towel," she said pointing at the material by the pool.

I would have ignored her or given her an earful for the move she pulled but I humbled myself. This was their territory.

I sighed and took the towel then passed it to her.

She grabbed it and dabbed it on her skin before flinging it back to me.

She started walking to the door, butt naked. As she pulled the knob open, she turned to me with that sickening smile on her face.

"Oh, do remember to check on dear Hera. Bye!"

As the door banged shut, my heart also slammed. Did Hilda expect me to spend an entire week with this woman?

Hell no!

I had to find her and convince her to give me a different duty. I grabbed the towel she had thrown at me and moved to the hanger, just by the pool, and placed it.

I would have to check on the third lady and hopefully, she wouldn't need me either. After that, I would go find Hilda and request a change of duty.

Ignoring the pinching pain in my shoulder, I left the large hall and followed the direction Hilda had given to me. She said Hera's room was the next door after the hall but as I stepped out, I realized that the next door was way down the corridor. Quickly, I made my way down to the room. But as I got closer, I noticed the change in scent.

Unlike the other rooms and doors before the large hall, this one had a strange smell. It was almost pungent.

What sort of flower was this? I hissed in my head as I slowed my steps and tried to identify the scent but there was just no flower in the world with such an unbearable scent.

The closet I got, my heart started picking a strange rhythm as I realized the scent wasn't a flower. It was the stench of something else. Something terrible.

I got to the door and stopped. Whatever lay behind it, was not going to be good and I could feel it.

It was a pungent smell. One that I had first experienced in the castle, long after everyone left. The smell of decaying flesh. Death.

I shook my head, refusing to focus on the negative. Maybe this Hera woman was just weird and that was why the others didn't want to check on her. Perhaps she experimented with strange perfumes.

With one long heave, I calmed my nerves and knocked on the door, expecting a response but no one replied.

My heart resumed the same strange rhythm and my panic returned.

But once again, I braced up and knocked again.

When no one answered for the third time, I tried the door knob and it cracked open. I pushed it completely and stepped in.

"Hel-" I couldn't even finish my sentence as the smell of death welcomed me and a shrilling sound filled the corridor.
