~ Violet ~

Violet was rendered speechless, absolutely taken by surprise by what she was seeing. Damon was on his knee, holding her gaze, and a ring perched in his hand. This was not the first time this happened, but she was just as shocked. Ever since they got back together, things were happening so fast and she was too busy thinking about the baby, the thought of a wedding hadn't crossed her mind. "Damon..."

At that moment, it was as if Violet's entire life had flashed before her eyes. She remembered the first time she saw him. She was working at a bar when suddenly, a group of men dressed in all black entered. One of the men stood out from the rest. He was standing in the very middle. He was tall, tan-skinned, dark haired, and tattoos were peeking out of his expensive three-piece suit. Violet found herself gazing at this mysterious figure. His eyes were dark and unreadable, but his gaze was sharp, sharper than that killer jawline. "What's your name?" he said to her when they met in the hallway.

"Violet,"

"Nice to meet you, Violet,"

Damon stretched out his hand and Violet took a second to think before she shook it politely. Violet was about to pull her hand away, but Damon held it there a second longer. Violet looked up instinctively and suddenly Damon was standing so close in front of her. She almost gasped in shock, but Damon only smirked. And not just that, there was a spark in his eyes. Violet didn't know if she should run or scream, but she quickly pulled her composure and pulled her hand away.

With his hand off the wall, Violet saw a space for her to walk away. But just before she was about to slip past him, he said, "So what's a girl like you doing in a place like this?"

Fast forward to a few weeks later, Violet found herself sitting in his office. He was offering her a deal, one million dollars for her virginity. At the time, Violet thought he couldn't be serious. But oh, how she was gravely mistaken.

"I know a million dollars is not the usual price for a girl like me," Violet paused for a beat before continuing, "Why are you paying us so much for this?"

"A girl like you?" Damon said as his eyes shot up at her.

"Yeah... a virgin," she stammered.

Damon narrowed his eyes again and another smile curved up his lips.

"Trust me, sweet girl, I know value when I see one. And I call it like it is. I think you'll be worth every penny,"

After she signed that deal, Damon didn't immediately take her virginity. He purposefully prolonged it, keeping her in the estate. She was mad at him at first. Damon never made it easy for her from the start. There should be no logical reason why they should end up together, and yet, everything flowed so effortlessly. Like the first time he made love to her.

...After rubbing his length up and down her folds, Damon positioned himself and thrust into her again. This time, Damon pushed even deeper than before. He was more than halfway in, but not fully inside her yet. Violet's body jerked in response as she felt her walls being stretched so forcefully.

"Damon, it hurts," she cried.

"I told you it will," he said simply.

The immense feeling of pain was back again and Violet struggled to keep it all together. She was on the verge of crying and Damon showed no signs of stopping. He would pull back slightly only to push into her deeper.

"It's not... gonna fit... inside me," she breathed.

"It will," he said. "Trust me,"

Trust him? Yeah, right.

However, before she could say anything in protest, Damon's fingers suddenly landed on her clit and Violet gasped in shock. Damon rubbed and teased her clit as he took slow, long strokes inside her. Violet felt a sensation she had never experienced before. It was pain and pleasure all mixed into one. He felt rough, yet gentle and this was bad, but it felt so good.

From that first taste, Violet could never get enough of him. She grew, he grew, and they grew together. And they somehow found love in the dark and chaotic mess. Something so pure and beautiful couldn't possibly have come from something so dark and ugly, and yet, here they were years later. Still completely in love and their love was stronger than anything. Even death itself couldn't hold them back.

Yes. That heartbreaking moment also rushed into her head. Violet remembered holding the gun in front of Damon. She was wearing her wedding dress. They were in the church where Isabella was buried.

Her mind was a mess. She didn't trust her heart. She just wanted to get out of there, but Damon wouldn't let her. She held the gun up higher, and her hands were shaking. Every little movement could mean the difference between life and death. Damon thought about seizing the gun away from her, but it was too dangerous. She might pull the trigger and the bullet might hit her, he couldn't risk that.

"This is the last time I'm asking you..." she said with a shaky voice. "Please move,"

Damon didn't look at the barrel of the gun anymore. He focused his eyes on her. He saw how hurt and lost she was. Whatever it was that happened to her, he knew he had to fix it. He couldn't just let her go. "Never," he said. "I'm never letting you go,"

More tears were falling from her face and he wished he could reach them. He wanted so much to wipe those tears away.

"Damon..." she meant it as a warning, but her voice was too coarse.

Damon knew he was pushing his luck, but he couldn't stand idly by and watch. He took another step closer and his hands reached to cup her face.

"Sweet girl," he said, leaning his forehead against hers. "I love you and I will never let you go,"

Violet began crying uncontrollably as he tightened his grip on her. He didn't know what was happening with her, but he could feel every pain and frustration. Inching his lips to hers, he whispered the words over and over again, "I love you, I'm not letting you go," Violet stood holding the gun and Damon stood holding her face. He didn't care that the gun was pressed up against his chest, he just kept holding onto her. Offering his lips to her, he waited for the odd chance that she would kiss him back. Violet remained quiet for the longest time, and then finally, her hand gave out and it fell to her side, along with the gun.

"I..." she said softly, her lips were grazing his. "I'm sorry," *BANG! *

If she could take anything back, she'd take that moment back. Hurting him and leaving him was the worst thing she'd ever done. And yet, Damon never held it against her. Instead, he waited for her. He gave her time and space, and then he found her again.

It took three years and another wedding later, Damon appeared in front of her. Violet remembered seeing his face as clear as day. The moment felt so surreal. After thinking she'd never see him again, there he was, standing right in front of her, inside a horse stable in the middle of nowhere in Texas. "What's a girl like you doing in a place like this?"

Damon was smirking. It was a smirk she had known so well. Violet's hand went to cover her mouth and her knees began to shake. Her heart was racing and her breath was caught in her throat. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. "I'm sorry I did that to you," she said. "I know you're mad, but-"

"I'm not mad," he cut her off. "I'm just... disappointed,"

Violet's eyes went up to him instinctively. It suddenly became clear to her that he wasn't here to kill her. No, it was far from that. Because the next thing she knew, Damon reached for her face with both his hands and he pulled her close. "W-what are you doing...?"

Their faces were only an inch away from each other. Violet could feel his breaths hitting her cheeks and her whole body went stiff.

"I thought I was just gonna come over here and see the wedding. I wasn't gonna say hi or anything. I'd just watch you from afar as you marry some guy and leave," Damon paused for a beat as his eyes darted to her lips. "But now that I'm here... I don't think I can just leave,"

Violet was caught in a daze. His eyes were glued to her lips and Violet found herself quivering.

"What are you saying...?" she asked cautiously.

"I'm saying I want my girl back,"

And then they fell back in love. Maybe it was wrong, but it felt right. Complicated yet simple. Full of mistakes and forgiveness. It was what love was. It was never meant to be perfect, but it was meant to bring two people together.

"I love you, Violet Rose Carvey," Damon said to her, full of conviction in his eyes. "Always have and always will,"

Violet was brought back to reality. Everything faded away as she focused on his eyes. They were so blue and bright, like the ocean. She could stare at it all day. And the way he looked at her, nothing else could compare. She couldn't imagine a life without him. And despite all the ups and downs, they still both chose each other. Despite all the mistakes that were made, they were still here. And not just alone too. They were here with a beautiful baby, a testament to their love.

So yes. Beautiful things can come even from the darkest places.

"I... love you too, Damon..." Violet's voice was shaking as she spoke. Tears were falling from her eyes. "I..."

"Damon!!"

Suddenly, the door to the nursery flew open with a loud sound. Damon and Violet turned their heads to the door. Liam was standing at the doorway, his chest heaving up and down.

"Oh, sorry," Liam said when he saw Damon on his knee. His eyes kept going back and forth between Damon and Violet.

"What?" Damon glared at him angrily.

"It's important," Liam replied simply.

"More important than this?" Damon scowled.

Liam paused for a beat before nodding his head. This looked very serious. Damon let out a sigh and turned his gaze back to Violet. He put the ring in her hand and stood up. Then he leaned over and whispered to her ear, "Wait here. I'll be back to hear you say yes to me,"

~ Damon -

"This better be really f*****g important, Liam!" Damon yelled as he shut the office door behind them. Meanwhile, Liam stood inside the room, his face was unshaken. Dead serious.

"It's Celina, Damon," Liam said meaningfully. "She's building support and now she has an army," "What army?"

"Old DeSantis sympathizers. She's rebuilding her dad's empire with a few small families and now she has about fifty men in her arsenal and the numbers are growing each day," "That's nothing," Damon scoffed.

"And she's also marrying Benzino,"

Damon's face turned serious instantly. The Benzino family was the second strongest family in Southern Italy after DeSantis. Benzino and DeSantis were never allies. Damon assumed that Benzino would be happy with Hugo's death. Benzino would simply take over DeSantis's role and that was it. But what Damon forgot to calculate was Mark Benzino's l**t for a new wife. The man was a known womanizer. Celina probably came to him as a damsel in distress and he couldn't help himself. He'd wage a war just to get a girl like her. "Benzino promised her two hundred men," Liam continued. "He'll get her revenge for the people who killed her dad. They're gonna come here and kill us all,"

"Benzino's not strong enough for the Big Four," Damon argued.

"But you're not a Big Four anymore, remember? You renounced your post. We have no family support and all the men we have are hired help," Liam reminded him bitterly. "Besides, Mark doesn't want Gianni or Benigni. He doesn't even want the Van Zandt family. He just wants you. Your head to be exact,"

Damon's jaw was clenched shut. This was out of his calculation. He never thought Celina would be capable of something like this. It was his fault to underestimate a scorned woman. He should've eliminated her when he had the chance. "When is he moving?" he asked.

"Right now. They're on a plane as we speak," Liam replied, pausing for a beat before adding, "Which is why I have to tell you,"

Damon realized he had no more time. He just came back from fighting Hugo's illegitimate sons, and now he had to deal with this. In a fit of anger, Damon's fist went to the wall next to him. Punching it hard.

* CRASH! *

"Shit!" he cursed. His fist made a crack on the wall.

Liam let out a deep breath and went over to Damon. At this time, Damon really needed someone to counsel him, give him options, and advise him on what to do. But since Adrian wasn't around, he had no guiding voice in his ear. "Damon, I think you should take her somewhere and get out of here..." Liam said as he put a hand on Damon's shoulder. "Beau and I can stay and hold the fort down,"

Damon looked up instinctively. What Liam was suggesting would be a suicide mission for him and Beau. The two of them and the little army they had left wouldn't stand a chance.

"No," Damon said firmly. "If we're going then we're all going together,"

"But-"

"Get Beau and get everyone," Damon ordered. "Tell them we're moving"
