~ Violet -

Life with Damon was never predictable, that's for sure. One minute, Violet was asleep in bed, and suddenly she got a dream wedding and a honeymoon. Ten minutes ago, Violet was enjoying herself in an island paradise, and now, they were on the next flight back to New

Jersey.

Violet wanted to stay positive, especially since it was only a few weeks after her wedding. But it was hard to stay positive when she felt like a fugitive on the run. Throughout the flight, Damon was busy on the phone, talking to Liam, Dylan, and Beau. Meanwhile, Violet sat by herself in another corner, holding onto her stomach. The next thing she knew, the private jet landed on the runway and they were back in New Jersey again.

So much for two weeks in paradise...

Violet waited until the plane had stopped taxiing before unclasping her seatbelt. Meanwhile, Damon was still seated in his seat, a phone on one ear and a laptop on his lap.

"Look, you don't have to worry about the situation over here. Just take care of your territory and we'll do the rest," he said into the phone. And when he noticed Violet getting up, he waved at her and said, "Just stay there, baby," Violet looked at him suspiciously.

"We're not getting off?" she asked, but Damon couldn't answer her. He was busy talking on the phone again.

And suddenly, the door to the jet flew open. Liam and Beau were standing in the doorway. They entered the plane with luggage in their hands. Right behind them were Damon's other men and they came hauling luggage too. Violet noticed some of that luggage were hers and Damon's. Wait, what's happening?

"Boss, you're gonna wanna see this," Liam said to Damon as he brought some files with him. Beau was right next to him. They were crowding Damon and Violet couldn't see him. And just when she thought things couldn't get any more bizarre, Dylan then stepped in. "Hey, Vi! How was the trip?"

"Dylan?" she gaped.

Dylan was also hauling his luggage into the plane. Not long after that, Talia, Barbara, and Ivy walked in.

"Dyl, why is everyone here?" she stared at everyone in confusion.

The ladies were making themselves comfortable, sitting on their seats and fastening their seat belts. Barbara and Ivy looked rather excited, glancing around the private jet with wide eyes and wonder.

"Damon didn't tell you? We're all moving together," Dylan replied.

"We're moving?"

"To one of his safe houses in Long Island,"

Violet turned her gaze to Damon instantly. Damon didn't say anything because he was too busy making arrangements. Now it made sense why everyone was coming in with their luggage. Violet didn't mind having to travel with everyone, but she would've appreciated the heads up. Especially since they have to leave the estate. This was something they discussed before and Violet didn't feel good about leaving.

"Damon?" she called, walking towards the men surrounding Damon. The guys stepped aside immediately, making room for Violet to get closer.

"What's happening?" she asked again once she was at an arm's length away.

Damon was buried under his laptop, files, and phones. He let out a heavy sigh and pushed everything away. Then he stood up, pulled her to the back of the plane, and they stood behind the curtains so people couldn't see them.

"Sweet girl, I was just about to tell you, but I got caught up with planning everything. It was so last minute," Damon said lowly and cautiously. His eyes were pleading with her. "The truth is, it's not safe for us to be in Jersey for a while. Word on the street is that Celina and Benzino are stalking our place. They're near. And Celina's been into our compound. She knows the place inside out,"

"But that's our home. What about the nursery and-"

"We're only gonna be gone for a short time," Damon cut her off, speaking reassuringly. "It's for the best, sweet girl,"

Violet locked her eyes on Damon, almost glaring at him. She wasn't mad about the situation, she was just frustrated. She was almost 30 weeks pregnant and all she wanted was the comfort of her home. That was going to be the place where she'd give birth and everything. But now this? What will this mean?

"He's right, Vi," suddenly, Dylan's voice was heard. Violet pulled the curtain back and saw Dylan standing in front of them, shamelessly eavesdropping.

"Even though we can fight them when they attack, we don't know what the casualty's gonna look like. It's better for everyone if we all lay low for a while," he said again.

"You hear that? Even the consigliere thinks so too," Damon added. He paused for a beat and glanced at Talia and Ivy. "We're not running away, but we have people we need to protect. We can't risk staying there,"

Violet glanced at Ivy and Talia too. As much as she hated to admit it, Damon and Dylan were right. There were a lot of people who were at risk by being with them. So even though it wasn't ideal to leave their home at this time, this was necessary.

"I see," Violet said with a sigh. "How long is this gonna be?"

Damon and Dylan exchanged a look. It was almost like they were trying to count the time they had left. Violet waited anxiously. She didn't like being in the dark like this.

"Well, after we settle down, we're planning to attack them before they attack us," Dylan answered.

"As soon as we catch them, we're gonna end this once and for all," Damon added, putting a hand on her cheek. "Just give me a few weeks, and I promise it's all over,"

A few weeks...?

"And then we're going home?" Violet asked, her eyes were rather demanding.

"And then we're going home," Damon nodded his head, his eyes full of confidence.

Violet let out a sigh and nodded her head. She leaned her face into the palm of his hand and Damon let out a smile. This was definitely not how she imagined things would turn out to be, but Violet knew she had to keep her head up. She just had to focus on what truly mattered, and everything that truly mattered for her was inside this airplane. Every one of them. All are safe and sound.

-- THREE DAYS LATER----

It had been a rough few days for the Van Zandt family. After the abrupt ending to their honeymoon, they found themselves deep in the hills of Long Island, about two hours away from New York City. The Long Island safe house was formidable and secure. It was difficult to reach, and best of all, it was kept a secret so Celina would have no clue where they were.

Damon spent the last several days planning his next move. They knew Celina and Benzino were in New Jersey now. He was trying to figure out where they were hiding so he could end them once and for all. And in the meantime, Damon still needed to keep up appearances so the other families were still reassured. Not to mention, he still had to watch over his new businesses that were fastly growing. Even with Liam, Beau, and Dylan helping, Damon was overwhelmed. There was always so much to do. He couldn't be too prepared for anything, so he prepared and prepared. Some nights, he'd lay awake in bed strategizing and planning. He felt like he was so close to winning it all. He knew how Hugo operated and Celina would probably operate the same way. Celina would definitely go for the weakest link in his territory and try her luck there. Damon just had to figure out what that weakest link would be.

Letting out a deep sigh, Damon glanced up from his desk to see the clock on the wall. It was past 2 AM. He promised Violet he wouldn't be working until late tonight, but he couldn't help it. He lost track of time whenever he was in too deep.

Damon closed the laptop in front of him and stood up from his chair. Then he picked up his jacket, turned off the lights, and went out of the office. The office room in the safe house was different from the one in the estate. For one, it didn't have a secret doorway that leads into a playroom. It was also located on a separate wing to the bedroom area. Damon actually had to walk the entire house just to get to his bedroom.

As it was so late at night, the large house was dark and empty. Only the shadows of the guards doing rounds could be seen. After crossing the hallway and climbing up the stairs, Damon finally reached the master suite. He pushed the door back slowly so as to not make a sound. He figured Violet must've been asleep.

"Hey," Violet said as soon as he walked in. She was lying in bed with a book in her hand. It was another book about babies, she had been obsessed with them lately.

"Hey," he replied. "You're still awake?"

"I can't sleep," she sighed and put the book away. "It feels weird not being in our bed,"

Damon let out a sigh too. He put his jacket on a chair and started undressing himself. Once he was done, he slipped under the duvet next to her, and he put his arms around her, pulling her into a hug.

"I know, baby. But it's just gonna be a few more days, two weeks tops," he said with his mouth pressed to her cheek.

Violet glanced down at her stomach. Damon was putting his hand around it.

"You know I'm having the baby in eight weeks, right?" she said.

"Dr. Lee is here. You don't have to worry about that,"

"It's not that! I just don't want to give birth to our child in a safe house. I wanna do it in our house. Our home,"

Damon propped his head up and saw the look in Violet's eyes. She wasn't trying to be difficult, but she was tired of this bullshit. He promised her a new life and they were so close, but it never happened. Naturally, she got tired and frustrated with the things that always got in the way.

"We will, baby girl. I promise you, everything will be over before Zach is born. He's not gonna have to see any of this," Damon said as he laced his fingers with hers. His eyes were pleading and full of sincerity.

Violet looked at him for a moment, then she let out another sigh and squeezed his hand back. Maybe it was the hormones or whatever, but she was getting more and more emotional by the day. Damon felt bad that she had to endure this during her pregnancy, but he was doing the best that he could.

"Damon," she said suddenly.

"Yes, sweet girl?"

"I know you're gonna keep your promises, but I need you to promise me one more thing,"

"What is it?"

Violet propped her head up this time. She put a hand on his cheek, locked her eyes with him, and said, "From now on, you have to keep me in the loop. Don't surprise me with exit plans or sudden changes. I'm your wife, Damon. I wanna know everything and I wanna help,"

"You... wanna help?" Damon was taken aback, not knowing what to say.

"Of course. What, you don't think I can do it?"

Damon stifled a laugh and shook his head.

"Baby, you broke into Hugo's compound with my men. I know you can do anything. But I'm just surprised you'd wanna get involved with all this... mess,"

Violet leaned her face closer and pressed her forehead against his.

"When I said I do at the church, this mess is included, okay?" she said, pausing for a beat before adding, "So you don't need to hide anything from me,"

Damon's heart swelled in his chest. His mouth fell open, but he couldn't respond. He was so touched by what she said. Instead of being angry with him for putting her in this situation, she only wanted to help. She was the best partner a guy could ever ask for, and he was the luckiest guy out there to get her to be his wife.

"Is that a yes?" Violet pressed as Damon couldn't speak.

Damon paused for a beat before saying, "Yes, ma'am,"

"Good," she said, smiling as she lay her head back down.

"Good," he said, smiling right back at her.

Violet kept her smile as she ran her fingers on his cheek, caressing him gently.

"I love you, Damon,"

"And I love you, my beautiful wife,"

My beautiful, sweet, good wife.
