Finley didn't spare him a glance, his focus entirely on lain, who lay unconscious nearby. He crouched beside her and lightly tapped her face until she stirred wake. She managed a weak smile. "Mr. D-"
"Where's Samantha?" His voice was sharp and urgent, cutting through any small talk.
Elain's smile faltered, her eyes widening in fear under the weight of his cold gaze. "Y-You came to save both of us?"
Finley didn't have time for her questions. His priority was clear. "Tell me where Samantha is.
Trembling, Elain pointed to a heap of overgrown grass nearby. "She... She escaped through that tunnel."
Without a second thought, he left her behind and headed straight for the tunnel.
"Mr. Dean..." Elain's voice wavered with desperation. "I-I'm hurt. Can't you take me with you?"
His face remained icy. "Wait here. Someone will come to get you."
With that, he disappeared into the darkness, leaving her behind.
Elain lay there in disbelief. Samantha needs help, but so do I. How could Mr. Dean just leave me like that and walk away?
A flicker of disappointment flashed in her eyes as she watched him disappear into the distance.
Samantha had no idea how long she had been crawling, but when she finally emerged from the cave, exhaustion took over. She collapsed onto the ground, her body trembling as she pulled out her phone and dialed for help. After calling the police, she was too drained to move.
I'm so tired. Gosh, I'm so sleepy. I just want to fall asleep.
She wanted nothing more than to let sleep claim her. As her eyelids grew heavy, a familiar voice cut through the haze. "Sam!"
At first, she thought it was a dream, her mind playing tricks on her. Tears welled in her eyes at the sound.
"Finley..." she murmured, her voice barely a whisper.
"Sam!"
Finley burst out of the cave and rushed to her side. Her entire body was covered in dirt and streaked with blood. Without hesitation, he scooped her up into his arms, his voice shaking with emotion. "Sam..."
The first time she heard him call her name, she thought it was just her imagination.

The second time, she still wasn't sure.
But now, wrapped in his arms, she knew the truth. This wasn't a dream
However, when it happened the third time, with his arms around her, she was confident it was not dream.
Finley's here for me.
He's really come to save me.
Samantha looked up at Finley, and suddenly, with a loud sob, she collapsed into his arms. "I though id never see you again," she cried, her voice trembling. "Finley..."
"I'm here," he whispered softly.
He gently wiped the tears from her face. "Don't cry, Sam. I'm here. I'm right here.
"It's okay now. You're safe," he assured her.
She clung to him tightly, burying her face in his chest as the sobs continued. The sight of her tears pierced Finley's heart. He held her tightly, feeling an overwhelming sense of relief. After all they had been through, she was finally safe in his arms again. "I'm so relieved you're okay. I don't know what I would've done if something had happened to you."
Samantha sniffled and looked up at him, her eyes glistening with tears. "I'm sorry, Finley. I made you worry again, didn't I?"
With tenderness, Finley leaned down and kissed away her tears. "No more crying, alright?"
She nodded and wiped her dirty face against his chest. He gazed down at her, a tender smile on his lips. "Next time, no matter what the academy asks you to do, don't agree to it. They have no right to command my woman to do anything for them." Samantha blinked, momentarily speechless. "But... I volunteered for it," she said quietly.
Finley froze.
