The chattering has died down as all of them look at Ahyan wide-eyed. I can’t help the shy smile that appears on my lips, I’m blushing right now. Prince Ahyan’s gaze is unwavering on me. I dare look at Debra who has been glaring at me since I arrived and she doesn’t look happy. Fury is written on her face and if looks could kill, I’d drop dead.

” Oh I’m sure she missed you too my prince, she has been asking about you,” Sophie chimes and I want to drop dead. I glare at her but she doesn’t stop. She goes to Cole’s side and k****s him deeply ” And I low key missed you,” she says against his lips.

” Why did you leave without us, and chose to go this… These girls? I thought you weren’t together! Cole, you denied f*****g Natalie!” She is glaring at Cole as she takes a seat at the table. He is closing and opening his mouth like a fish. Natalie well known as Nat is a pretty dumb redhead, her father is one of the prominent ministers in the city and one of Debra’s friends. She and Cole I’ve had a fling for a long time but they ended it when they entered another year, it’s such a surprise to see her here actually.

” Well, Soph, we are all just friends here, right ladies?” He says in a high pitch that tells his nervousness.

” I’m over Cole, I have my eye on someone else,” Nat says nonchalantly as she browses through the menu.

” However, he was with a hideous dark-haired girl over the weekend, how low class,” she continues, ignorant of Cole’s glare at her. Sophie is… Hurt by this, she doesn’t look too confident. She checks her phone a few times and gets to her feet.

” Excuse me, I’m to help Lopez pick out her dress for tomorrow’s cocktail party, I’ll see you guys later,” she says and leaves in a hurry,

” Come on, Soph,” Cole g****s, running a hand in his hair but doesn’t chase after her.

I try to go after her but Ahyan grabs my wrist. He stands up and smiles, stroking my hair once.

” Did you miss me?” He asks. I’m shocked by his question, he’s waiting for my answer and I keep him waiting a while longer.

” Why? You like that I miss you a tad?”

” So, you did miss me,” he muses ” I’m happy to know you were thinking about me,” he grins. I look him in the eyes and lie.

” I wasn’t thinking of you, I just… You know what, forget it,” I’m smiling and he pinches my chin in a friendly manner then takes his seat.

I face everyone, ” What is everyone having?”

” Finally, all you do is eye f**k-” Snickers Debra but Ahyan interrupts.

” We f.ucking talked about this,” Ahyan hisses menacingly. She immediately shuts up and smiles tightly at me, I roll my eyes. So fake.

I take their order and lastly I turn to Ahyan who didn’t order.

“What are you having?”

” Are you on the menu?” His obsidian eyes are soft and mischievous. I flush.

” I’ll see what I’ll do,” I wink playfully, bold enough to flirt a little, he gasps and turn on my heel. I hear his friends comment and clap. I give the chef the order, placing a special order for Ahyan. Medium rare steak. I step out of the kitchen, and to my surprise, I find Sophie coming from the bathroom. Her eyes are red and she’s sniffing. I stretch out my hand to her. She smiles and takes it. I lead her to a seat in the corner where no one can see us. I don’t know what to say to her so I only her hand.

” He doesn’t like me as much as I thought, ” she breaks her silence. ” I didn’t plan to like him but when we have s*x, there is something. Something profound that connected us,”

” I’m sorry,” is all I can say. She laughs bitterly and it breaks my heart.

” My driver is here, I’ll get going now, see you on Friday, I’ll take a day from school,” we hug tightly and I watch her exit the restaurant. But just as the driver opens the door for her, Cole rushes past me and goes to the car. He is trying to talk to her but the car starts moving.

I go back to other customers while waiting for their order to be prepared and In less than ten minutes it’s ready. With a few waiters, I begin to serve nervously as I feel Ahyan’s gaze on me. My body is hot and all I want to do is run out of here.

I swallow, my gaze going on everyone “Enjoy your food,” I turn on my heel and leave the area.

My days home are getting better as weeks have passed by and at school, they don’t bully me because I’m a regular member at Ahyan’s table but I prefer eating with Sophie and Happy upstairs since Sophie is spending time away from Cole.

She liked him more than she thought.

Sophie and I are going to the mall today, we pass through the parking lot where a lot of students are since classes are over. I spot Ahyan and his group of friends, they are talking, all looking hot as f**k. He waves at me and my heart flutters as I shyly wave back. Sophie grabs my hand without looking at them.

” Let’s hurry,” Soph whispers as we go to her car.

Cole tries to talk to her on several occasions but she avoids him or just waves a hi with a small smile. Cole looks pained when she does but what does he expect? He just wants her for s*x while soph wants more.

In ten minutes we reach the mall, It’s huge and busy. We spend an hour shopping for clothes, I choose a few that I like since I don’t have enough money but Sophie insists I take whatever on her black credit card.

She shows me a beautiful short dress, I scowl not liking its length and she sighs

” Baby girl, look, you have the most beautiful body I’ve ever seen, be proud and show it off, others pay so much money to have your body type,” She says with a smile ” For how long will you continue wearing baggy pants and big hoodies?” she frowns, gesturing to my hoodie. Sophie is a few inches taller than me, she is slender and beautiful, with long legs, and long perfect wavy hair that suits her pretty face.

She once mentioned she modeled for different companies growing up.

” I know but I just feel uncomfortable,”

” I know, love, let me help you. Every woman needs to be comfortable in their body and skin, it boosts confidence and elevates one’s self-worth,”

Sophie is right, I’ve always had low self-esteem because of how I’m treated by my family but It shouldn’t be like that!

” Okay fine, we can get anything that will look good on me,” I concede, she claps her hands in excitement and calls two assistants to help us. We get so many clothes until I throw myself on the chair, refusing to try more designer clothes.

” Mara, I’m serious, get your lazy a*s up! we still have a few dresses to try,” She scolds, her hands on her waist as she taps her leg on the floor impatiently.

” No, how do you still have energy,” I g***n, lying belly first on the sofa.

She hits my butt and I g***n. ” My legs can’t take it anymore,”

she scoffs,

” Your legs? I’ve been in heels since morning!”

We bicker until she concedes, I pucker my lips to hide a smile. The two assistants carry our bags to the car, they are so many.

” We didn’t even go to my favorite store,” She mutters.

” Which one is that?” I ask.

” Victoria secret but we’ll go next time,” She says as she leads me to another store,

” What are we getting?” I ask.

” You don’t have a phone, I have to go all the way to your place when I want to talk to you,”

I had a phone but Alice dropped it in Lulu’s fish tank and since then, I haven’t gotten one, phones are expensive these days. I hold her arm and she faces me,

” Soph, I don’t have enough money to get one right now,”

“It’s a gift, from me to you,” she shrugs her shoulders, I shake my head

” But you have bought me so many things already,” This is the first time someone has spent so much on me.

” Please let me, It’s for selfish reasons, I want us to be able to chat even without waiting for the next day,” She insists. I nod and we go to the fourth floor.

A male assistant comes to us. He smiles at Sophie and she shyly smiles back.

” Hi,”

” Hi,” she waves.

” I’m Tomas,” he says. He is tall, handsome, and has a fit body, he seems to be in his early twenties.

I look at the phones, I can’t decide which one to pick.

” Get this one, it’s the latest model,” Tomas comes to my side, and he shows me the one which looks just like Sophie, it’s almost 1000, I raise my eyebrow still looking at the tag.

” We’ll get it,” Sophie says, smiling at Tomas, I open my mouth to reject but she cuts me.

” It’s a gift from me to you,”

I take her gift and thank her with a hug. Ten minutes later, Tomas is done setting up the new phone, he gives it to me and I take a seat while he and Soph talk. I check my social media accounts and find terrible comments under my profile, and on my timeline.

I’ve had these for quite some time from Debra and her friends but they seem to be a lot now. I delete them but they seem to never end, others are in my inbox, warning me to stay away from Prince Ahyan and his friends or that we are not on the same level. A notification comes and I check it, a smile making its way to my lips… It’s a message from Ahyan. It says hi with a huge waving emoji.

Amara: Hi, I reply. A few minutes later, a response comes.

Ahyan: Wanna hang out tomorrow?

Amara: Yes.

Ahyan: I’ll pick you up at 9 am. I smile and reply okay.

Sophie comes back and seats next to me

” I’m so hungry, can we go to McDonald’s?” She asks excitedly. I nod and we get up to leave.

” You and Tomas,” I start when we leave the store and a smile stretches on her lips. She opens her mouth but no words come out…

” He’s cute,” I comment. She nods affirmatively.

” And human too,” she sighs.

We reach the food court and order, minutes later it’s here and is very delicious.

I explain to Sophie what is happening with my account and she advises me to delete it and start a new one. I do just that and together we create another account for me not before Sophie Insulting all of them in Spanish.

We are laughing while we eat, I think my life is somehow getting better. I’m getting to a good place in my life.
