The Princess’s Broken Alpha -
Chapter 49
She roughly dumped her bag on the bed and sat down. The dread of everything felt heavy on her. She could hear her own breathing in the large quiet room. Her bag consisted entirely of Zion's shirts and she pulled one out and inhaled the deep masculine scent feeling the tears sting the side of her eyes.
Her fingers nervously checked her phone. There were no calls, no messages from him, nothing. It made no sense she tried to call him either he more than likely wouldn't answer. She would give anything to hear his voice. The pain in her heart started to amplify and she turned it off before chucking it back into the bag and headed to the shower. She needed to wash off especially after the long flight she had just had.
She hoped the warm water would erase her pain but it didn't. It was there that she collapsed in the corner of the shower and she didn't know how long she was in there for just letting the water wash away her endless tears, the pattering of the water drowning out her loud sobs. She couldn't stop even when her ribs ached. She was glad when she came out she couldn't see herself in the mirror anymore from the fog.
She got ready and headed down the hall. It made no sense she stopped by the kitchen because she couldn't eat anything or feel like she would ever eat anything again.
Vivienne was immaculately dressed as usual in a sharp white skirt suit with her diamonds sparkling against her striking features and porcelain skin. Her blonde hair was perfect with not a hair out of place and her posture straight as she sat prim in her chair. "Look what Castor dragged in." she chimed sarcastically as Kiarra walked in, her eyes twinkling.
"Did you miss me?"
"The world goes on doesn't it?" she replied sharply.
Kiarra gave her a light hug to glance at the mounting documents on Vivienne's desk. She would soon have to go through them. Vivienne's eyes roved over Kiarra's black t-shirt and jeans disapprovingly. Kiarra could see it was business as usual. She couldn't find it in herself to put on anything else today. She needed his scent and comfort.
"I'm guessing it didn't go well with your mate or you wouldn't have returned looking like this."
Kiarra didn't want to talk about it or him. She was barely holding it together and she wasn't up for hearing I told you so. It was hard enough walking around like all was well, it was worse talking about it.
Kiarra sat in the chair across from her as her aunt patiently waited for a response. Vivienne was a beautiful woman and though she reminded her of her mother there were drastic differences between them both. Where her mother's features blended to form the extraordinarily beautiful woman she knew Viviennes stood out harsh. There was also something about the way her mother moved and talked that accentuated her beauty. It was also her spirit. Therefore her mother was always known as the great beauty when compared to her and well anyone else for that matter.
"I had to come because I hear there's a hybrid war brewing?" she got straight to it.
"Well yes, didn't Castor fill you in on it?" Vivienne sighed, her forehead crinkling in annoyance.
"No." replied Kiarra. Her response came out harder than she intended. Vivienne knew what that meant and placed her gold pen down on the glossy desk.
"Mhm I see" she hummed "Well it was revealed during a meeting with hybrids that a popular hybrid witch was planning on caging your beast."
"What?!" Kiarra sat up straight in her seat. She wanted her aunt to say it wasn't so but Vivienne was clearly not one to bluff. A chill ran down her spine. She was always a target for those wanting to get to her father but this was beyond cruel. It was worse than death and the mere thought of it was more than alarming. To be able to sit and think of carrying out such a horror.
"Yes by none other than Castor himself. So you owe him a big thank you which hopefully will be the announcement of your mating ceremony this week?" she replied proudly.
Kiarra ignored her question. It was also a skill she developed when dealing with her family.
"Has anything happened concerning this war?"
"Your father met with the leaders of the other groups and issued a warning. You are his precious princess after all. You cannot ignore the inevitable Kiarra as you are ignoring my question. Your father definitely isn't going to ignore it as well. " Vivienne clipped. Kiarra focused on the hybrid news. She was lucky enough to arrive before her father started an extermination. The hybrids couldn't win and she was very doubtful the other groups could as well.Stop reading the wrong and incomplete storyline, jo b nib.com has the correct and complete book. She knew without a doubt that her father would have no mercy on the culprits and she wasn't sure he should have any at all especially with the severity of what they were attempting to do.
"Have they captured the said culprit?" Kiarra asked.
"No, apparently Indigo Bellatreaux is on the run or has escaped but surely we will find her. Though there are talks that she is the estranged daughter of the leader of the witches Kladimir."
Kiarra shrugged. She wasn't the least bit fazed by this, just the method they were using. If they wanted a fight then they could have one but for now seeing as she was safe and the culprit wasn't apprehended as yet she saw no reason for her father to go to war. She was further briefed on all that had happened and the things outlined that she had to do. She had trouble focusing and keeping up but she pretended she was listening all the same. It was as if she was on vacation because even though Vivienne chipped in a lot of things had piled up and there were things that only she had authority to do. She was expected to take up her mantle as soon as possible though she didn't feel like doing anything anymore.
"You won't be dressing like this now, will you?" Vivienne chipped in and Kiarra took it as her queue to leave.
"Well I better hurry up and let father know all is well in the world before he burns it down" she steeled herself before rising to leave.
The king's section was even more magnificent. She could feel the painful tightening of her stomach and the heaviness of her legs as she stopped before the large grand office doors. She didn't see the need to knock. He was her father. The moment she saw him behind the desk she wanted to scramble. She could see herself in him. His large intimidating form showed no acknowledgement of her as she closed the doors. She quietly took a seat before he raised his chillingly piercing eyes to her.
