The Princess’s Broken Alpha -
Chapter 71
"I do business in a shack by the waterfront." Indigo started slowly." My customers tend to visit early in the mornings or late at night. You know it's a witch business and they don't want to be seen doing business with a witch because it can damage their reputations." Jackson leaned forward. His head ache was suddenly gone as he listened intently to her. Kyor gave an encouraging nod for her to continue.
"He showed up at the shack. Blonde hair and tall."
Her eyes flitted nervously between Jackson and the cup in her hand. She swallowed before calling his name. She felt like if she said it out loud it would summon him.
"Castor came for my services. I was surprised as to why a powerful Lycan would need my help, especially one with such a reputation. At first he was very pleasant and he seemed harmless. He was charming and he seemed sweet. His reputation that I heard of was good so far. It made me let my defences down. I thought he would be there for the things regular people were there for but he wasn't."
Indigo shuddered visibly as she stared into Jackson's eyes. She had been a fool. Castor had come prepared for her and she didn't see through it.
"He said the reason he was there was because he was in love with the Princess, best friends since they were little, but all he tried she would never love him the way he wanted her to, the way he needed her to. He had tried for her all these years thinking one day she would return his love but she didn't. He thought she would mate with him but she had apparently found her mate and was headed to him. He said he had to find her first. Later I found out he had to find her before you did."
She met Jackson's eyes taking hers from the cup. Jackson's eyes were deathly cold and Indigo swallowed. So, while Jackson was working fair and square, he was doing things differently. Zion was right, he was pathetic. Jackson stood up to pace and Indigo stepped back against the door, afraid if she should continue with him so close to her, especially with what she had to say next
"He wanted me to perform a location spell. He was hell bent on becoming king and even more declaring that she was his. I tried to tell him that if she didn't return his love he should move on, but he behaved as if she was the one thing he had to own, he had to claim her. He was obsessed with possessing her. I pretended what he had couldn't complete the location spell, let her find her love. I wouldn't interfere in someone finding their mate, I know as wolves it's always one of if not the most important things in our lives," She paused for a moment to drink some more of her tea.
"The filthy dog attacked her." said Kyor angrily, putting his feet up on the small circular table.
Indigo threw him a glare at his words and Kyor shrugged mumbling a faint sorry to them both with a pout. It was an insult to Indigo as well because she was half wolf.
"I could tell he wasn't just there for only a location spell. So I dug deeper and he finally opened up. H-He wanted a chaining spell. He would use it on her to control and keep her. I was shocked that anyone could be so cruel, so evil. I would never do that to anyone. I vehemently told him no but he attacked me. I underestimated him. I woke up chained in a room. I was tortured for days and weeks without food. In the end, I-I."
Indigo took a deep breath as Jackson stood before her, his face a scary vision.
"I-I gave him what he needed because I thought there would be some hope of me surviving. That maybe I could warn her. But he ruined that too. Nobody would ever believe me if he painted me as the villain. He used me as a scapegoat. I realised he was more calculating than I had ever anticipated. Everyone is now out for my head, I have nowhere to go and no one apart from Kyor. You have to believe me I have no reason to harm anyone, especially in such a way."
Jackson snarled, his anger flaring. The son of a bitch was going to pay. Indigo saw the orange red glow of his eyes and her eyes found Kyor's who stood as well. Jackson was taking threateningly small steps towards her caging her in.
"How did you escape?" Jackson asked.
"By some miracle I mustered enough strength to escape. I was barely surviving. I thought I would die any day in there. He had me in an old greenhouse. I escaped by jumping into a lake. My element is water so it acts like a battery for my powers. I used the water as a portal to escape. I found Kyor right after."
She looked at Kyor with a grateful smile. If she didn't love anyone in this world she loved Kyor. He had embraced her wholeheartedly and was the only family she had.
Jackson knew where the greenhouse and lake was. It was on the Whitlock's estate. Indigo wouldn't know that because she wasn't familiar with the place.
"He needs to pay for what he did to my cousin and he cannot get married to the Princess" Kyor argued loudly, his eyes glowing purple. It was a daring contrast with his green-tipped hair.
They were both looking at Jackson waiting for his response. He would either bring her in or help her.
Jackson always knew he was a conniving snake. Indigo took in Jackson and his features were scary. He looked out for more than blood.
"I have a few questions. How do we break this chaining spell you created if it's ever used?"
Indigo wringed her hand and looked at Kyor.
"I can't. I don't know how."
"You've got to be fucking kidding me right now!" his sudden outburst made her jump.
"This is something that is forbidden and not done, so we don't have any much information on it and how to break it but I'll try and find a way out, I promise."
Jackson cornered her threateningly against the door and Indigo closed her eyes in fear.
"You promise? No you will find a way and fast because if anything happens to her I'm wringing your neck."
"I will." Indigo breathed out, shaking her head.
