The Princess’s Broken Alpha -
Chapter 72
The entire long ride back Zion had been silent and Samuel worried as he watched him looking out the window. His jaw was tense and his nostrils flared as they headed back to the hotel. This evening did not go as planned. Even he hadn't anticipated what would have happened this evening. He had mentioned the possibility of her not returning to Zion but not like this. Never like this.
They finally arrived at the motel and it was still radio silence. Samuel knew there were things to do like plan their return flight, but that could wait. He doubted he would ever leave England. He threw down the keys on the table as they entered and headed to the kitchen, pulling the collar of his shirt. The silence in the room was crippling. He was also relieved he had never gotten on Kiarra's bad side.
Samuel opened the fridge and took out one of the extra boxes of pizza he had ordered earlier. He'd expected Zion to trash the place, shout at him, shout expletives. Anything but this deafening silence. He felt like he was waiting for a volcano to explode. It was even scarier.
He cracked open the can of beer and downed it in one go. It was just for taste because the alcohol did nothing to them. He took two more from the fridge throwing them on the counter while his food reheated.
"So what are you going to do now?" he asked, breaking the silence.
He was surprised when Zion headed over taking off his jacket to throw in on the chair. He looked like he had been through hell and Samuel was worried about his sleeping and the last scare they had regarding his condition. It definitely wasn't healthy that he was barely sleeping if he even was at nights and it might aggravate his situation even more. Yet there was nothing he could do about that. He would never heed his warnings.
Zion reached for the can ignoring Samuel's questioning look.
"We are going to stay."
Samuel paused staring at him, the microwave's shrill beeping sound went off before dying out.
"I'm going to stay until she's marked. I'll keep trying until there's nothing left of me." he said resolutely.
Samuel took in a deep breath.
"Okay" he agreed.
The mood was sombre. Zion looked like a lost puppy as he left and Samuel knew her words tonight had hit something in him deep. Denial for a regular wolf was hard, but for Zion it was two times worse. "You should try and get some sleep." Samuel tried.
Zion couldn't sleep, not while she was gone. He entered his room and started to take off his tie. He looked at the bed before him. He hadn't slept since he had woken up from passing out for the couple of days. He didn't even know how many days it had been since. He was just focused on one thing. He'd stayed awake every night just replaying memories of her in head.
He took the photo out of his pocket and he stared at it as he had been doing for the past few days every night until morning. He knew to anyone he would look like a crazed, obsessed man and he was. He traced his finger over her for the millionth time. Her denial tonight almost killed him. He kissed the photo, closing his eyes.
"Come back to me. Come back to me" he whispered.
He prayed the moon goddess would give him another chance. He closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the chair. It was awhile before he felt a change.
He found himself standing in a room. Everything was expensive. He cautiously looked around. He felt the plush softness beneath his feet and looked down at the carpet. He didn't know why but he felt there was some familiarity about where he was. This dream didn't feel like a dream though. It felt real, like he was actually there. He looked behind him at the door and moved forward.
He was in a dark room and he continued to walk. It was a large room. It was more than large, it was extravagant. There was a large bed before him and as he neared it he stilled when he noticed that there was a form on it. It couldn't be. His heart was going crazy. He walked around the side of the bed and there she was sleeping. He couldn't believe it. He looked around the room. This was definitely a dream then why did it feel so real. He started to doubt if it was dreaming or if he was really in her room by some unexplained
reason.
Her hair was spilled over the pillows and she laid on her side. He took in her soft pink lips and the way her hands were wrapped around the pillow. She looked so fragile it made his heart twinge. He wanted to trace his hands over the scar on her temple. He needed to hold her. He slid into the bed beside her and he shakily reached out wondering if he would be able to feel her and he did.
He was surprised when he felt her warm skin as he held her hand. She was wearing a light pink silk night gown with soft white lace at the top. Zion cradled her in his arms holding her tight against his body. He felt like a huge weight was lifted off of him and he breathed out. He placed his head against hers, kissing the crook of her neck.
He didn't think she could feel him but he froze when he felt her nestle deeper against him releasing a deep sigh. She had wrapped her arm around his. He lightly kissed her trailing all the way up to her temple and then he rested his head back against hers. His throat tightened and he closed his eyes.
"Come back to me" he whispered in her ears.
