The announcement was out already. The next king in line was none other than Castor Whitlock. She would be mating with Castor in the upcoming week on a day of the full moon. Things were already being put in place for the ceremony.

The ball was all that was still on everyone's lips. She had danced and had exhausting conversations with all her suitors but none of them clicked for her. She had enjoyed it but she had fought her way through every conversation. Sure they were all nice and handsome, but that's just all they were. It became annoying after a while and if not for duties she would have called an end to it all.

She opened her closet to take out a sweater. She was going to have dinner over at Castor's house this evening. She reached for the sweater but when Kiarra looked down her eyes drifted to her knapsack placed at the back of her closet instead. It was leaned to the side behind a few of her shoes. Just as she took it up and her hand reached for the zipper she heard a knock on her door and she discarded it in the far corner.

She was confused when she saw Castor walk in dressed in a light blue dress shirt and dark pants. His eyes were focused on his destination, her. Many paragraphs are missing. Read the complete book on Jo-b n-l b. c (o) m. No one apart from relatives was allowed on her side of the palace especially males though they were friends and have been for years, so she was curious as to how he had reached so far.

"

'Wow, I didn't think I'd live to see the day." Castor glanced around proudly. "It was worth the wait" he flashed a smile and Kiarra felt there was more meaning to his words.

"How did you get in?" she asked apprehensively, hoping her voice didn't betray her. The hairs on the back of her neck were standing up.

"Well I had a meeting with your father about what was expected to become his future successor. I thought since we had dinner it would be nice to head over with you. He suggested that I just come right up instead of waiting down there. I figure it's because we are practically mates, so it makes sense."

He strolled up to her and took one his hands out of his pocket and reached to push her hair back. He could have sworn he saw her flinch.

"Though that's all just an excuse to see you."

"We have dinner in a few minutes" she pointedly told him, noticing he was slowly getting closer and closer. The distance closing in between them. The blue shirt highlighted the blue in his eyes and Castor studied her face.

Castor had everything within his reach now. His eyes drifted to her lips and lingered there before he looked back up meeting her eyes. He wanted to taste her so badly. He dipped his head but Kiarra saw it coming and stepped back just in time. He gave a questioning look which soon turned to irritation.

"Tell me this, how exactly are we supposed to be ideal partners if you keep pulling away from me?" he made up for the space she had put between them and she held her ground not moving.

"We have a dinner to attend. We shouldn't keep your family waiting," Kirra reiterated firmly, moving forward.

Castor knew what she was doing so he caught her around the waist bringing her around to face him when she tried to get past.

"They'll wait." he said quickly.

"Maybe we should practise until you start to get more comfortable."

He glanced behind her at the bed and Kiarra's stomach tightened. He could feel the weight of the necklace in his pocket that Indigo had made and when his eyes strayed back to hers from the bed he smiled.

"What were you discussing with my father?" Kiarra tried to change the topic and Castor was aware of it. He still didn't remove his hands from her waist. He shrugged with a frown on his face and she could see his eyes darkening. "Basically what I told you. All the things I will have to learn and how I am expected to behave."

He held her waist tighter so she couldn't pull away from him as he got so close to her she could feel his breath. If he leaned in a fraction more their chests would be touching.

Castor tilted his head up to scan around the room.

"This room is soundproof like all the rooms in the palace isn't it?" he asked and his warm breath fanned her face.

"We're late" Kiarra told him pointedly and he smiled at her.

"Fine Ki, have it your way for now. I'm just honored that you chose me to be your man. It means that I am of the highest quality."

He kissed her forehead lovingly to pull back from her.

She felt relieved when he let her go and offered her his arm as they made their way out.

"Did father say anything about the hybrids by any chance?"

Castor shook his head.

"No,but I think he would more so say something to you than me about that but no he hasn't said anything about it to me."

He held the room door open for her, easing back and she stopped in the doorway.

"What would you do?" she fired at him before entering the hallway.

The question took Castor off guard and he turned to her.

"Well, for starters I would give them a fair chance. I believe they have just as much rights as us and should be treated as such. It just saddens and breaks my heart to hear of them being mistreated like that. I just can't imagine ever treating another person like that. I don't like it Ki but unfortunately I can only do so much right now for those poor souls." Castor replied, his eyes shining with sincerity and a sadness that it was a topic that troubled him. Kiarra hugged him tight and he hugged her back.

"You're going to be an amazing King Castor and I'm proud to be your mate. I'm glad I at least chose someone I know inside and out." said Kiarra and she gazed up into his content blue eyes. She pulled away from his embrace and they both headed for dinner over at his parents' house.
