The Rise of a Master: It Starts With Rejection
Billionaire With Husband 343

Chapter 343

Wendy was taken aback and exclaimed, "Grave relocation?"

The topic seemed completely disconnected from their previous conversation, and she could not help saying, "Mr. Zeller, L... I don't quite understand."

Felix knew he needed to explain, though he kept it brief. "I need Mr. Laird to relocate his family grave. It might seem like an unreasonable request, but it has to be done. Could you ask your father if he can help make this happen?" Given everything Felix had done for her family, Wendy could not refuse to try at least. "Of course, let me make a quick call."

This unusual request stemmed from Felix detecting one of the ancient dragon's spine fragments in the area. Since his meridians had evolved and the dragon scale had fully bonded with him, he could sense all nine spine fragments of the ancient dragon within a certain range.

According to Gerald, most fragments were marked on the map he provided. However, there was always the possibility that some had been discovered by chance or claimed by others.

This restaurant was not marked on the map, yet Felix had sensed the fragment clearly upon entering. After a quick inspection, he discovered the fragment was buried beneath a grave in the restaurant's private back garden.

Though the gravestone was unmarked, its location in the restricted area suggested a connection to the owner.

The ancient dragon's spine fragment would take at least a week to harness with his current abilities properly. Breaking in or working in secret was impossible as it would only escalate the situation, and any interruption during the process would force him to start over. Hence, persuading Larry to move the grave was the best option.

After about 15 minutes, Wendy returned with an apologetic expression that suggested bad news. "I'm sorry, Mr. Zeller. My dad immediately called Mr. Laird and offered to hire the best expert for the relocation.

"Given my dad's current status and sincerity, we thought it would be an easy request, but Mr. Laird refused."

Felix frowned, but his mood quickly returned to normal. "It's fine. Let's continue our meal. Forget I mentioned it."

Wendy looked a bit uneasy, feeling she had let Felix down. She wanted to make a good impression, yet this favor had backfired.

As they were finishing up, a fat middle-aged man entered their private dining room,

As she stood up, Wendy whispered to Felix, "That's Mr. Larry Laird."

Felix smiled as this saved him the trouble of seeking the man out himself.

"Don't worry about it, Mr. Laird. I was just having a casual dinner with a friend," Wendy replied politely.

Just then, Felix spoke up. "Wendy, you can head out. I'd like to have a word with Mr. Laird."

"Of course, Mr. Zeller. I'll take my leave then."

Larry was a seasoned businessman and immediately noticed the power dynamic between them. The Kinsleys were already impressive enough, with Moonshadow Alliance backing them and their rising influence in Yartford, yet their precious heiress was showing such respect to this young man.

"May I ask who you are?" Larry asked.

"I'm Felix Zeller. I'm nobody important," Felix replied with a smile. "Please, have a seat, Mr. Laird. I have a matter to discuss with you.'
