The Rise of a Master: It Starts With Rejection -
Billionaire With Husband 418
Chapter 418
Of course, there had always been people who cared about nothing, like Madam Spring, who poisoned Curtis with Phantom Poison. As a lone wolf with only revenge on her mind, she did not care about the consequences or who was involved. However, those with families or organizations had to be more careful. When the government stepped in, everyone involved would pay the price, and they could not just offer up a scapegoat to make it all go away.
Still, these were just Felix's theories. Whether the Elders' Council had other reasons for keeping him and Xena apart remained a mystery for now.
"Mr. Zeller, I can see you're a reasonable man," Ryan said. "I really wanted to help you, but my hands were tied! I even told my grandfather about your true identity, but he still insisted I lie."
Felix suddenly chuckled. "Let me guess-he said something like 'Dr. Hoffman is a legendary master healer who saves lives. He wouldn't wipe out an entire family, so the choice is obvious,' right?" Ryan's awkwardness made it clear that Felix had hit the nail on the head.
"I don't blame you because I know you genuinely wanted to help restore my abilities. If you hadn't been so kindhearted, you wouldn't have gotten caught up in this mess," Felix remarked.
Ryan felt a mix of emotions. It was rare for anyone to be so understanding despite being in such a situation. Hence, his admiration for Felix only deepened.
After Ryan left, Felix pulled out his phone, which contained several new numbers that Averill had left behind. According to Gerald, since Felix had lost his fighting abilities and could not protect himself anymore, he was free to use the resources of the nine senior apprentices. Without hesitation, Felix dialed Averill's number.
"Felix, missing me already? I just left," Averill answered playfully.
Felix had considered asking Averill to be his witness but ultimately decided against it. Not only did Averill dislike Xena, but as his senior apprentice, Averill was hardly a neutral party. Thus, Xena would not believe her.
"Yeah. I'm missing your assassination organization," Felix replied.
"Humph! I'm not in the mood to chat. I'll send you a number, and someone will contact you. Felix, you're so annoying, lying in bed but not trying anything with me.
Felix rubbed his nose, both amused and exasperated. Learning about Averill's secret

assassination organization had caught him off guard,
When he dialed the number Averill sent, an elderly voice answered, clearly expecting his call, "Mr. Zeller, what can I do for you?"
"It's not convenient to discuss over the phone. Let's meet in person."
After hanging up, Felix stretched his body. He was not using these resources to win back Xena's affection but to find Sonny and provide an explanation to both Xena and Curtis as victims.
As a man, how could he remain passive after being framed? Plus, he might discover what game the Elders' Council was playing.
Just as he was about to shower, the doorbell rang again. Seeing it was Michelle, he quickly opened the door.
Michelle entered wearing a thin wine-red trench coat and perfect makeup, obviously having dressed up for the occasion.
"Michelle, is something wrong? You could have called first. There's no need to trouble yourself coming over," Felix said, gesturing for her to sit as he poured her a glass of water.
When he turned around, Michelle's coat slipped to the floor, and what she wore underneath left Felix stunned.
