The Rise of a Master: It Starts With Rejection
Billionaire With Husband 509

Chapter 509

"Who's this fellow?" Dalton asked. He was confused at the sight of Felix. After careful thought, he realized that he had never seen him before.

"Dad, he's Felix Zeller," Brock answered. "Just now, the people from Martial Alliance-

Before he had even finished speaking, Dalton's expression darkened.

"Martial Alliance came again?" he asked in distaste. "Do they really think us Meyers are pushovers? Why didn't you call me?"

Brock smiled wryly. "Why else, other than that we were afraid you'd worry?"

What would they achieve by calling Dalton anyway? They had already exhausted their connections. Who would dare help them once they heard that the Meyers had offended Xerxes' personal subordinate? "Although this may sound shameless, when Curtis arrives later, I'm going to ask him for a favor even if I have to beg for it. The situation with Martial Alliance is ridiculous!"

Xena was the Phoenix Warlord. Handling a minor issue like this would be child's play to

her.

"The matter's already been resolved, Grandpa," interjected Vanessa. "It was Felix who helped us. You have no idea how funny the situation was just now."

Dalton's eyes lit up after listening to her explanation. He hurriedly clutched Felix's hands in his.

"Thank you very much, young man," he said. "I previously heard that you gave Nessa an incredibly valuable book on martial arts techniques, and now you've been such a big help to our family as well. Alas, I feel ashamed." This reaction was precisely what Felix had been waiting for. Originally, given his

personality, he would have excused himself long ago.

"You're too kind, Mr. Meyer Senior," he said. "How could I just ignore your plight given my relationship with Jack?"

Dalton laughed heartily, happy with what he had said.

"This is truly a blessing-no, twice the blessing! Come, Mr. Zeller! Please do us the honor of having lunch with us."

Jack was currently abroad. When Felix sent him a WhatsApp message just now, he was about to board the

next plane back. He finally relented when Felix informed him that the issue had been resolved, with Vanessa chipping in to reassure him as well.

"Oh, right. I heard that you encountered an old friend of yours, Mr. Meyer Senior," he

commented. "Seeing how happy you are, you two must have been close, right? How did you lose contact with him?"

Dalton became extremely emotional at the mention of the topic.

"Alas, fate can be a fickle thing!" he lamented. Back then, I had reached a bottleneck in my martial arts practice, so I decided to train in the mountains by myself. When I returned a month later, I discovered that Curtis' home had become nothing but a vacant house. "In those days, all we had were pagers. I paged him multiple times only to receive no response, and that's how we simply fell out of contact! Later on, I moved to Canraville, where my luck started improving, and my life improved.

"However, how would I even begin searching for someone in a country as vast as Dragonía?

So Curtis wasn't from Avesburgh?

Dalton continued, "When we were fishing just now, the two of us stared at each other for a long time before finally recognizing each other. It's been so many years, after all."

Half an hour later, Dalton received a call from Curtis and personally stepped out to welcome him. Felix was originally planning to follow along, but he had been stopped by Dalton, who insisted that it didn't make sense for a guest to receive another guest. Soon, he heard hearty laughter ringing out.

"We're not leaving until we're both drunk out of our minds today, Curty!" Dalton could be heard saying. "That's right. I'd also like to introduce you to our family's savior. Don't let his youth fool you! He's both capable and kind."

"Really? Well, your savior is my savior," declared Curtis. "You've made me quite eager to meet him."

The next moment, Felix was meeting the eyes of the man standing next to Dalton.

"Mr. Summers Senior," he said immediately in greeting.

Curtis' smile fell, and he turned to ask Dalton, "Why is he here?"

His reaction caught Dalton off guard.

"What do you mean? Do you two know each other?" Dalton asked.

Perhaps it was because he and Dalton hadn't seen each other for a long time, in addition to the fact that they really had a close relationship-whatever the case, Curtis hadn't turned around and left just yet, which he probably would have in any other situation. "Hardly," he said with a snort. "We're much more than just acquaintances! How could I forget him with a personality as hard to come by as his?"

He didn't expect Dalton to smile and say, "That's right. Mr. Zeller really has a good personality. He helped us so much yet hasn't asked for anything in return. He apparently helped us simply for the sake of friendship."
