As Wendy was about to speak, Bernard regained his composure and shouted, "How dare you!"
In the next moment, Bernard suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed into Vincent's arms.
Wendy was so frightened that she burst into tears and hurried outside.
Even Xena's expression changed. Bernard's loyalty was more intense than she had anticipated, to the point of spitting blood over this matter. "Joe," she whispered.
Jordan nodded in acknowledgment and rushed over to check Bernard's pulse. His assistance helped calm Vincent and Wendy down a bit.
"It's nothing serious. It's just a case of stress. A few days of rest will do him good, but during this time, make sure he doesn't face any more pressure."
Given the sudden events, if Xena continued to press on the issue, she would no longer deserve the title of goddess of war.
She left with Jordan.
"Grandpa! I'm so sorry!" Wendy cried like a child.
She just didn't want the Kinsleys to be defeated. But it wasn't her intention to anger Bernard to the point of spitting blood.
Vincent, understanding the situation, refrained from scolding her further.
"Wendy, don't say anything more, not even in private. It's better if your grandfather remains unaware. If he finds out, you'll be the sinner of the entire Kinsley family. Even I, your father, won't forgive you," Vincent murmured. After all the effort to bring Bernard back from the brink of death, if Wendy were to cause him harm again, it would be unimaginable.
"I understand, Dad. I won't act on my own again. I promise." Wendy answered.
As time passed at the Murphy residence, Felix looked at the little one sleeping on the bed, a faint smile appearing on his face.
"Dr. Zeller, should I wake him?"
Felix stopped him.
Gilbert appreciated this greatly, as his son, Zane Murphy, could only fall asleep after 9:00 pm and would wake up promptly at 1:00 am. Those few hours of sleep were crucial.
"I'll take a look first."
Sitting on the bed, Felix checked Zane's pulse and shook his head.
"His body is fine except for some malnutrition."
"What?" Gilbert was stunned. This was just the same conclusion as other doctors.
"Don't worry. I have a vague guess already. We'll see when he wakes up," Felix said.

This statement didn't ease Gilbert's anxiety.
"No, Dr. Zeller! Other doctors wanted to check at that time, but when Zane woke up, he made such strange sounds. The closer you get, the more you feel anxious and weak, and you can hardly stand, let alone check his pulse or treat him," Gilbert explained. Felix stood up and waved his hand.
"That's fine. I'll handle it. I'll cure your son."
As seconds ticked by, the moment finally arrived. Gilbert and his wife, Jane Connor, could only stand at the bedroom door, knowing all too well that getting any closer would intensify the feelings they had previously experienced.
Only Felix stood by the bed, seemingly unconcerned.
"Honey, is he... Is he going to be okay?"
Upon hearing Jane's words, Gilbert shot her a glare.
"Be quiet! Dr. Zeller has cured Mr. Kinsley Senior. To say he is our last hope is not an exaggeration. Just watch closely!"
Jane listened. However, she didn't feel confident about Felix because of his looks.
At that moment, Zane, who had been sleeping, suddenly sat up without any warning and made strange sounds from his mouth.
Even Gilbert and Jane instinctively took a step back in fear, while Felix, unaffected, immediately checked Zane's pulse.
