The Rise of a Master: It Starts With Rejection -
Billionaire With Husband 682
Chapter 682
Chapter 682
It was clear that Queenie was well-liked. She and Willow chatted like old friends, their conversation free of any awkwardness.
"Oh, is that so? That must've slipped my mind. Everyone, please sit," Clement said warmly, raising his glass.
"Our previous neighbors were all elderly folks. My wife and I are pretty sociable, so it's great to finally have a group like this together. Let me start things off with a toast!"
The others joined in, raising their glasses.
Felix smiled and added, "From now on, just call me Felix. Calling me 'Dr. Zeller' feels too formal. We're all neighbors here."
As the drinks kept flowing, Clement reached for the wine decanter again.
"Honey, you need to slow down!" Willow said hurriedly. "You've got that business trip to Yartford tomorrow."
"Relax! Don't you know my tolerance by now? Don't kill the mood!" he replied.
Without pushing further, Willow got up and left the room to settle the bill. She knew how things would play out-Clement would drink too much, and she would end up helping him home. It was better to handle the payment now while she still had the chance..
On her way back, the door to another private room opened, and out stumbled a man who was clearly tipsy. His eyes lit up the moment he saw her.
He blocked her way, asking, "Willy? What a coincidence!"
Willow avoided his gaze.
"Zechariah Yarn? It really is a small world," she said, trying to walk past him.
However, Zechariah grabbed her arm.
"Do you regret it? Tell me the truth!" he said. "Back then, when Clement and I were both pursuing you, you chose him over me. Look at you now! His family is barely holding their company together, while my family's business is booming. You could've been living the life of a real socialite!"
Struggling to free herself, Willow grew extremely annoyed. "Zechariah, you've had too much to drink. Let go of me!"
To any onlooker, Willow might not have been the kind of woman to turn heads, but love was never something that followed logic.
"I won't let go! Tell me, do you regret it or not? Zechariah demanded.

As he reached for her with his other hand, Willow slapped him hard across the face before he could get any more handsy.
"Show some respect!" she snapped.
Zechariah's gaze darkened as he rubbed his stinging cheek.
He glared after her, watching her return to her group's private room, then stormed back into his own.
"Damn it! You, come with me!" he barked at his companions.
Back in the private room, Willow rejoined the others to find Clement boasting loudly.
"See that? I had Felix drinking so much that he's now stuck in the restroom forever!"
She knew her husband had been under a lot of stress lately. The bank had been holding up a critical loan, and he had been drowning his frustration in alcohol. Tomorrow's trip to Yartford was all about begging for help. She felt her heart ache just thinking about it. "Yes, honey, you're amazing!" she said.
Queenie, sitting nearby, smiled warmly. Admiration was written all over her face.
"You two really are such a loving couple. And Darcy is such a sweet, thoughtful kid."
Just as the words left her mouth, the door to their private room was kicked open. Zechariah stormed in, flanked by seven men.
"Clement, don't hide behind your wife if you're a real man! Your woman had the nerve to slap me-how are we going to settle this?"
Clement's expression darkened instantly. He stepped in front of Willow to shield her.
"If she slapped you, you must've deserved it! Zechariah, how do you want to handle this? Bring it on-I'm ready!"
Smirking wickedly, Clement clinked his beer bottles together.
"You'll handle this? You're not even qualified to speak to me like that. How about this?
Lend me your wife for one night. I'll let the slap slide, and I might even put in a good word with the bank to help you out of your little company crisis."
No man could tolerate hearing something like that. Clement felt his blood boil as he charged forward.
"Go to hell, you son of a-!"
