The Ryland Boys
Chapter 37

Last night was so much for one person.

Beatrice is literally the devil.

After pulling her of Olivia not once, but three times, I was forced to call Beatrice’s parents to come get her.

Max was a pain in the a*s and kept trying to steal Lucas’s new toys while Nathon wouldn’t stop making s****l jokes about my body.

I walked over to Lucas’s room shutting his door as I watched him take his nap.

Pulling on my running shoes and a pair of shorts with a tank top, I headed down the stairs to the backyard.

Masons buddies were all practicing and on the field was Jax and four other guys he was training.

He’s been training a couple newbie fighters. It’s funny to watch him actually teach guys half his size to win.

Lucas hid my headphones and since he’s asleep, I’m not willing to wake him to get them.

Doing a few stretches, I looked over at the trainees and c****d an eyebrow as they gawked.

Idiots.

Beginning with a job, I kept going around a couple times.

Stopping, I watched Jax look me over “You want to get these guys to run a couple laps with you?” He asked.

I eyed them and stared at him “If they can keep up.” I said smirking at him and then continuing my run.

He whistled and the guys began running beside me.

“Stay paced. If you try to race, you’ll get tired.” I said to them watching as a few slowed down a bit.

Good boys.

We stayed paced and a few fell back further but I kept them running for a good thirty minutes before they started collapsing.

I ran two more laps and then stopped as I watched them all sit on the benches eyeing me.

Jax tossed me a bottle of water and I opened it chugging the water and then staring over at Mason who was grinning.

Oh god…

“I’m sweaty and gross.” I warned him but he still picked me up, this time tossing me in the pool.

I landed in and came back up staring at him in disbelief, “d**k move.” I said shaking my head.

He grinned and I held my hand up for help.

The i***t took my hand and I yanked him hard watching him fall into the pool. I smirked and pulled myself out the pool taking my shoes and socks off.

A whistle came and I looked over at the newbie who was smirking on the bench.

I held up two fingers to a mock gun shutting one eye and pulling the fake trigger.

Only he fell back when the basketball smacked him in the chest hard.

Smirking, I stared at Nick who was grinning.

Taking my shoes, I stared down at Mason “Thanks for the cool off.” I said smiling and heading inside the house.

After a good shower and a fresh change of clothes, I headed to the kitchen to get my lunch.

“Oh Norah, can you grab those two plates?” Emily asked me gesturing to the two sandwiches on the counter.

I nodded and took them following her to the gym.

Oh god not these guys again.

She headed inside “Three lunches.” She said placing them on a bench.

I watched her hurry out and I placed the other two plates down watching the guys go from fighting each other to staring at me intently.

“You’re the uh, the girl in the hall right? The girl that was posted on the doors.” One of the guys said smiling.

c*****g an eyebrow, I nodded “Yeah.” I said watching him smirk “You’re hotter in person.” He looked to Jax “Lucky guy.” He said.

Jax stared at the guy, “Whoever marries her will be.” He said whistling.

The kid eyed him “Isn’t she your girlfriend?” He asked confused.

Another kid joined in “No she was with James.” He said making my b***d boil.

Jax cut in again “She also kicked his a*s. Get to practicing before I let her kick yours too.” He said crossing his arms over his chest.

The third kid eyed me “You beat up James?” He asked fascinated and with a glimmer in his eyes. Oh, he’s in love. How sweet?

I smiled and eyed Jax over “Yeah, he’s at the hospital but I heard he’ll be released soon. Listen to Jax, he’s the greatest fighter and can teach you a lot.” I said before turning and walking out the gym.

Going upstairs I watched Lucas playing with his toys quietly.

Silently stepping away, I headed down the stairs and watched the teens going to the door.

The front door opened though and Lindsay walked in eyeing the teens “Ew, these are the twerps your teaching?” She asked Jax walking over and kissing him.

I looked away and stared at one of the teens, they awkwardly headed to the door and I gave a small wave going past Jax and Lindsay to the couch.

“I don’t get why she’s still living here.” Lindsay said eyeing me.

I eyed her “I’m only living here to make your life miserable.” I said flipping the tv on.

She scoffed “No s**t. You know you’re not invited to the wedding right?” She asked me.

Laughing I looked over at her “What wedding?” I asked smirking at her.

She scowled “Lucas! Come on. Let’s get your damn ice cream.” She shouted up the stairs.

Lucas hurried down the stairs and took her hand waving bye to us and going out the front door.

I stared over at Jax, he eyed the door with a long stare before looking to me “They think I’m an idiot.” He said leaning into the staircase.

Pointing to the door I laughed “The newbies?” I asked him.

He nodded and smirked.

Laughing, I watched him walk over and sit in the small two seater couch, “Did you show them your rock collection?” I asked jokingly.

Jax grinned and stared at the tv, “No, they uh, they said I’m an i***t for not marrying you.” He said moving his eyes to the floor.

Damn, I wonder how many people tell him that.

He stared forward and then looked over at me “I think they’re right.” He said before standing and walking past me and out the living room.

Getting off the couch, I turned the tv off and took his hand before he could leave.

His eyes moved to me and I walked him up the stairs and to my room pulling him inside gently and then closing and locking the door.

His eyes moved to me and I walked him up the stairs and to my room pulling him inside gently and then closing and locking the door.

Jax didn’t say anything, just watched quietly and confused.

Going to the bed, I laid down and gave him a soft smile, “Just for a moment.” I said.

He took his shoes off and walked over laying down beside me. I smiled looking into his face “We were close weren’t we? To this.” I said softly.

Jax nodded and ran a hand over my hair, “So close.” He said quietly.

I moved and laid my head onto his chest closing my eyes and listening to his heart beat.

It always put me to sleep.

“Norah?” The voice was semi loud and I lifted my head off the warmth staring down at Jax who was just waking up too.

Crap! We fell asleep!

“Yeah?” I asked frantically.

Alison’s voice came behind the door “Have you seen Jax? We can’t find him.” She said nervously.

“I think he may have had another heart attack running or something.” She said worried.

I got up off the bed and unlocked the door pulling it open “Where’s Lindsay?” I asked Alison.

She stared at me confused and gestured over her shoulder “Downstairs searching the garage and the backyard.” She said low before Jax stepped up behind me and kissed the top of my head moving out the room and to his room shutting the door.

“Did you guys..?” She asked with wide eyes.

I shook my head “No, we just slept, that’s it. Just slept.” I repeated watching her nod and gesture for me to go back to my room and lock the door.

“Norah” she called knocking on it.

“Is he in there?” Lindsay’s voice came from the stairs and I unlocked and pulled open the door staring at them. “Hey?” I asked.

Lindsay pushes past me and started searching the room. Thank god Jax took his shoes.

I eyed her like I was confused “Can I help you?” I asked annoyed.

She scowled and shook her head “Where is he?” She asked.

“Who? Lucas? You had him last.” I said watching her shove my chest “Jax! You f*****g home wrecker.” She said angry.

I fought myself from shoving her back and took a breath “I told you. I don’t know, fire crotch.” I said crossing my arms over my chest.

She went to his room and slammed on the door.

He pulled the door open freshly showered “You okay?” He asked.

Lindsay scowled at him “Where were you?” She asked annoyed.

He eyed her, “I went running. Got back about fifteen minutes ago. You alright?” He asked her watching her worried face.

She nodded and then looked to me and headed inside Jax’s room.

I smirked at him and he winked before going inside and shutting his bedroom door.

Looking to Alison, I watched her smirk “You two are good.” She whispered.

We are.

Shutting the door, I locked it and went to his side smelling it and going back to sleep.

It smelt like heaven.
