The Twin Alphas’ Fated Mate
Fated to a Fae Chapter 13

~Rhett~

I wake up to a bunch of noises coming from all around me. They're so loud, but muffled at the same time. It sounds like voices, but I can't understand what they are saying. My eyes are closed, so I can't see whose around me. Why are so many people in my room?

I try to open my eyes, but I can't. I feel so weird and out of it, like I've been asleep for awhile. What's the last thing I was doing? I remember Blake and Max. Being in Max's office. Why is my memory so foggy?

"This isn't normal. He shouldn't still be asleep. This isn't Atlas's doing. Something is wrong with him." I hear someone say. Sounds like Blake. He's so loud. It hurts my head and I groan. I hear shuffling around the room before voices are right in my ear.

"Rhett, are you awake?" A voice says. It's Max. I recognize all my brothers' voices.

"Are you sure he groaned?" Devin says. What, is the whole pack in my room? Jeez, how many people are standing around my bed?

I try again to open my eyes and I'm met with the blurry image of a white ceiling with lights all around. They're not bright, but they still hurt my eyes. But that's not what I'm focused on. My bedroom ceiling is grey. This ceiling is white. Why am I not in my room? Where am I?

I blink a few times until all my brothers' faces come into focus. Blake, Max, Kaden, and Devin are all standing around me and I see one of the nurses, Amanda, checking something on a monitor before she turns to me.

"How are you feeling, Rhett?" Amanda asks me. I turn to face her and clear my throat.

"Tired. Where am I?" I ask.

"You're in the pack clinic." Max says.

"Why? What happened to me?" I ask.

"You've been asleep for eight days." Kaden says. I look up at him.

"What? How have I been asleep for so long? What happened to me?" I start to panic, thinking something horrible happened.

"We don't actually know. Atlas punched you and it knocked you out. But it shouldn't have, especially for this long." Max says.

"Why did Atlas punch me?"

"Because you were choking Reef." Blake tells me. I look at him, confused.

"Who the hell is Reef?"

My brothers all share a look. I'm seriously starting to freak out, because no one is making any sense right now.

"Reef is Atlas's mate." Blake tells me gently.

"Atlas found his mate? When did this happen? I'm so confused." I say.

"Okay, enough guys. Throwing all this information at him isn't going to help." Max says to everyone before turning to me, "Rhett, what's the last thing you remember?"

I close my eyes and try to think. I see flashes of a memory and I feel like it's my most recent

one.

"I was in your office with Blake. You were telling us about a mission, I think. To go meet the fae. You were angry with me for showing up late because I was with Nicole." I tell him.

"That's the last thing you remember?" Max asks with a shocked look on his face.

"Yeah, why?"

"Rhett, that was two weeks ago." Max says.

"He's only been asleep for eight days. How did he lose out on six days of memories? A lot of s**t happened in those six days." Blake says.

"What s**t happened?" I ask.

"We went to meet the fae. You missed the trip. You slept in." Kaden says.

"I never sleep in." I say.

"You did that day. Nicole kept you up all night." Blake says with a look of disgust. I scoff and roll my eyes.

"I would never let Nicole keep me up so late that I miss a mission. The b***h is a decent lay and all, but not good enough to miss meeting the fae." I say.

"Those are some pretty harsh words about your mate." Devin says and I whip my head around to look at him.

"Don't even joke about s**t like that. You couldn't pay me enough to mark Nicole." I say.

"Well, you did it. And for free, might I add." Max says. I look from Max to Blake as he gives me a slight nod. My jaw drops.

"I don't even like Nicole! I like that she's easy and sometimes fun, but jeez, she's annoying as hell when we're not having s*x. Maybe I let her call me her boyfriend, but I'd never mark her. I was telling Blake on our birthday how excited I was to meet our mate. Why would I mark Nicole?" I rant.

"That is true. He was saying that." Blake says, "But that's why I was so confused when we found out you marked Nicole. You told us you didn't wake up on time to come to the fae village because you were exhausted from all the s*x you were having."

"Get me a mirror. I need to see my neck. I need to see it with my own eyes." I say.

"Nicole didn't mark you. You just marked her. I have no clue why, before you ask." Blake says.

"I don't feel anything for her. If I marked her, shouldn't I feel something like love when I think of her? Not annoyance?" I ask.

"Yes, that's usually how it works. But you haven't been yourself lately." Max says.

"Why? What happened?"

"You attacked two people." Kaden says.

"Who?" I ask.

"Reef, Atlas's mate was one. You choked him so hard you crushed his windpipe and vocal cords.

If mom had not healed him, he wouldn't be able to talk anymore. Atlas was pissed when he saw you doing it and knocked you out cold." Max says.

"s**t. I don't remember any of that. Who was the other person?" I ask. Max looks up at Blake and Blake takes a breath.

"Her name is Selenia. You cornered her in the sitting room. She asked you to back off and you refused. You bruised her wrists when you were holding her in place. Reef stepped in to get you away from her and that's when you choked him." Blake explains.

"Who is this girl?" I ask.

"Selenia and Reef are from the fae village. They came back with us." Kaden says.

"Okay, Reef came back because he's Atlas's mate. Why did this other girl come back? The only unmated guys that went were Atlas and Blake." As the words leave my mouth, I realize what I'm saying. My eyes go wide and I look at Blake. Before I can even ask him the question, there's a knock on the door and Atlas comes in with a guy I've never seen before. Maybe his mate? I smell something amazing, like honey dew and rain. My eyes drift to behind Atlas and a girl comes forward. My heart skips a beat in my chest and my wolf, Winston, is suddenly awake in my head. I feel like he's been gone for awhile, but now he's back, because of this ginger-haired beauty. Her skin is pale and looks so soft. I want to reach out and touch her. Before I can even comprehend what's happening, the word slips from my mouth.

"Mate."

Everyone turns to look at me. Everyone looks shocked. I'm shocked. This is my mate right here. And she's looking at me strangely. Why isn't she coming to me? I need her.

"Wait, how is this possible? He marked Nicole. And he's met Selenia before. Multiple times."

Devin says.

"He was cursed."

Everyone turns from staring at me to the door where Silas is standing. I look back at Selenia

and moves closer to Blake. He wraps his arms around her and I can't help but feel a little jealous. I don't feel possessive of her when she's hugging my twin, but upset that I'm not getting the same affection. I wonder if this is how my dads feel. I notice Selenia's neck and see that she's marked. Blake already marked her.

"What do you mean he was cursed?" Max asks, bringing me back to the conversation.

"When I arrived back a few days ago, I came into the room and felt the remaining bits of a

curse. You have to be conscious for curses to keep their effect and, since Rhett was asleep for so long, the curse lost its effect. His memory will revert back to the day the curse was given to him." Silas says.

"So that's why his last memory was of the meeting we had in my office." Max says.

"Can you fake being marked? Because everyone here knows that Nicole was walking around here with Rhett's mark on her neck. But Rhett has no feelings for her now and apparently is now mated to Selenia." Kaden says.

"Of course you can fake that. But only on yourself. You can't put it on other people. It requires the blood of the person you want marked. If Rhett didn't give any blood, it would explain why

he was marked." Silas says.

"Who could do this?" Blake asks.

"Any warlock can perform this magic. Finding one willing is the problem. Most are like me and like to stay out of other people's business unless it's to help someone in danger. A very powerful caster could also perform the spell. Your mother could, but I doubt she would do this to her own son. She's distraught that he was asleep for so long." Silas says.

"I was with your mother earlier. It wasn't her. I could feel her worry for Rhett. And her dislike

for Nicole. She wouldn't do this." Selenia says. Her voice is so soothing. I want her near me. I reach out my hand to her. She's just close enough that I can touch her dress. The movement startles her as she looks at me. I can't tell what she's feeling. We lock eyes as I keep my hold on her dress. Blake looks at me, but I ignore him. My focus is only on her. Selenia looks down at me hand. She seems to hesitate for a moment, but then her hand moves

from Blake's shirt to my hand. She stops for a second right above my hand before she places her hand over mine. The sparks immediately light up my skin and I gasp. Selenia gulps as her breathing changes. She steps closer to me and I take this chance to run my hand up her arm. She shivers from the contact and closes her eyes.

"It feels the same, but different. The sparks are the same, but it's like my body knows it's not

Blake touching me." Selenia says.

"Because Blake and I are twins. We share a mate." I say.

"Yes, but you had a mate when I met you. I didn't feel this way when we met or when you

touched me." Selenia says, her eyes opening to meet mine. "Is it true you lost your memories from the past two weeks?"

"Yes. Last thing I remember was being told we were going to the fae village. I had no idea two weeks had passed since then." I say. Selenia takes a deep breath.

"I'm sort of glad you don't remember."

I look at her confused. "Why?"

"Because I didn't feel this pull towards you before. I pushed you away because you were acting

creepy. I said some things that I meant at the time, but would never dream of saying now. Not while feeling like this. And I was genuinely terrified of you when you cornered me in the sitting room. I didn't know what you would do. All I felt coming off of you was hatred and anger. I thought you might kill me. And I don't want you to remember seeing me like that. Because it

wasn't your fault you acted that way." Selenia says. She was scared of me? How crazy was I acting to scare her that badly? I mean, I guess I did choke someone.

"I'm sorry that I scared you. I'll never do anything like that again." I tell her. She smiles.

"You're tired. You need to sleep." Selenia says.

"How do you know that?" I ask.

"I'm a gifted fae. My gift is I can feel emotions. I can feel you're tired, I can feel everyone is

worried for you, I can feel that Atlas is still mad, but trying to keep it inside because he knows

it wasn't actually you who attacked Reef. I can feel Silas is irritated that he doesn't know who

cursed you. And I can feel jealousy coming from both you and Blake." Selenia says. I look up at my twin. He meets my eyes and sighs.

"I just got used to the fact that I wouldn't have to share her. This is a little unexpected." Blake

admits.

"I see you already marked her. I'm not mad, I understand. But I'm a little jealous you had two

whole weeks with her before I got to meet her. Or I guess I have met her, but I can't remember."

I say.

"We can talk about this later. Why don't you rest?" Blake says.

"We'll leave you to sleep. Amanda is right outside at the nurses' station if you need anything."

Max says, ushering everyone out.

"Thanks Max." I say.

"Glad to have you back. I was worried...it'd be like last time." Max says. He gives me one last

smile before leaving. Last time. When I almost died. I was asleep for four whole days and

everyone thought I was dead for the last two of them.

Selenia sits on the side of my bed, looking at me.

"Do you mind if I stay with you?"

I smile at her. "I'd love for you to stay."

Selenia moves and positions herself next to me before lying down with her head on my chest. I

wrap my arms around her and take in her scent. She smells so good. I look up at Blake, who

has seated himself in a chair near the end of the bed.

"She's perfect. In every sense of the word." Blake says to me, looking at Selenia.

"I can hear you." Selenia chuckles.

"It's not a secret. I love you. And Rhett will too, if he doesn't already." Blake teases and I laugh

slightly.

He's right. If what I'm feeling in this moment is love, then I fell fast and hard. I don't even know this woman yet and I already know she's the centre of my world. My mate. And I don't want to

let her go.
