The Unshackled Queen: Never Say Never -
Chapter 1956
He rushed to Remington, pleading, “He tried to have me killed! Wanted the horses to trample me!”
Remington glanced at Peterson and remarked, “He was rude, but just teach him a lesson.
There’s no need for anything drastic.”
“I intended only to frighten him a bit,” Peterson replied with a smile.
“If he was taken into the stables, I would intervene.
How could I harm your man? He was quite disrespectful, though.
Miss Moore is your guest, after all.
I’m here to assist in resolving this issue,”
Peterson explained.
Remington’s gaze shifted toward Rodrigo, who, feeling the weight of the gaze, bowed his head, unable to meet his eyes.
“What are you waiting for? Apologize to Miss Moore immediately,”
Remington commanded.
Rodrigo, subdued by his boss’s firm tone, turned to Hannah and muttered, “Miss Moore, I spoke out of turn earlier.
Please forgive me.”
“It’s fine,” Hannah responded coolly.
“Continue with your tasks.
Peterson, you can leave.
I need to speak with Miss Moore privately,” Remington instructed.
“Of course,” Peterson said, nodding to Hannah.
“If you’re free later, perhaps you could join me for a while.
I’ll head back now.”
Once Peterson had departed, Remington signaled his men to remain as he and Hannah walked toward the Lake.
“I understand your visit today.
I want you to know that I wasn’t behind the attack on your father,” Remington started, facing Hannah with a calculating look.
“Moreover, wouldn’t it be beneficial for you if the head of the Compton family were out of the picture and you assumed his position? Our partnership could then surely flourish.”

Hannah glanced back at Remington and then away toward the lake, her tone indifferent.
“You’re mistaken.
If anything dire were to happen to Wallace, it’s Wilfred who would most likely take over the Compton estate, not me.”
Remington did not contest Hannah’s assertion.
Hannah continued, “Mr.
Lyons, as a businessman, you understand the value of diverse partnerships.
It’s advantageous for you that Wilfred is poised to take leadership.
He lacks shrewdness, making him easier to influence.
Among the major families of Caditown, the Juarez and Delgado families pose no real threat.
The Austins, fragmented and weak, cannot compete with you.
If the Compton family aligns with you, the Pierces will undoubtedly back you as well.
Ultimately, the Lyons family could command the upper echelons of Caditown’s elite.
You stand to gain the most, Mr.
Lyons.”
Remington smiled knowingly at Hannah and remarked, “You seem to understand my position quite well, Miss Moore.”
Hannah simply returned the smile without a word.
As they looked out over the lake, Remington impulsively grasped Hannah’s wrist, pulling her close.
Startled by his sudden move, Hannah swiftly withdrew, stepping back.
“What are you doing?” she demanded.
Realizing his overstep, Remington retracted his hand with a smile.
