The Unshackled Queen: Never Say Never -
Chapter 1959
Smiling, Remington said, “My father thinks so also.
That’s why he’s taken an interest in Peterson.
He sees his intelligence and ability to manage the family’s business.”
Hannah arched an eyebrow and asked, “Tell me, Mr.
Lyons, are you worried that Peterson might replace you as the heir?”
Smiling, Remington said, “I won’t deny it.
But Peterson is still young and not ready for my role.
Besides, the other two contenders are formidable.
For now, I’m not too concerned.”
Hannah made a nonchalant remark, sensing his hidden apprehension.
But Peterson had changed considerably, and she found his transformation curious.
Approaching the villa, Hannah decided not to enter.
After resolving today’s matters, she intended to leave.
Raising an eyebrow, Remington asked, “Aren’t you going to stay for dinner? It wouldn’t be polite not to invite a lady for a meal.”
Hannah waved him off and said, “Not tonight.
I’ll see you at the horse race.”
Just then, Peterson stepped out, gazing at the setting sun.
“Hannah, won’t you join us for dinner?”
Shaking her head, Hannah replied with a smile, “No, thank you.
Maybe next time, I need to head back to the hospital.”
Peterson nodded, watching her depart.
He then turned to Remington and inquired, “How did it go with Miss Moore?”
“You overstepped today.
I see you have some skills, but it’s not your place to meddle with my affairs.” Remington replied flatly.
Appearing contrite, Peterson said, “My apologies, Remington.
I will make it right with your man.
But he insulted Miss Moore today, trying to embarrass you.
And for the record, when you weren’t around, he called me a bastard.”

“Don’t assume you can do whatever you like just because you have Father’s backing now,” Remington warned.
Noticing his displeased expression, Peterson smiled reassuringly, and said, “Don’t worry, Remington.
I won’t breathe a word of today’s events to father.
Even if someone else mentions it, I’ve already dealt with the situation, so father won’t hold it against you.”
Remington, somewhat relieved, acknowledged, “Alright.
I appreciate that you’ve considered this.”
“Yes,” Peterson affirmed, then checked his watch.
“I must Leave now.
My mother needs her medicine soon.
I’ll be heading back to assist her.”
Once Peterson departed, Remington’s expression grew somber.
Emerging from his concealment, Conor looked in the direction Peterson had gone and remarked coldly, “Should we consider removing him permanently? Despite your father not yet choosing an heir, it’s clear to everyone that Peterson is more than he seems.”
Remington, masking his emotions, replied, “With so many recent deaths, adding Peterson might lead father to suspect my involvement.”
“But his constant challenges to your authority are calculated.
He’s testing you,” Conor pointed out.
“We’ll set that issue aside for now.
Any updates on the Compton situation?” Remington shifted the conversation.
Conor reported, “Things have calmed significantly since Hannah’s return, Wilfred has ceased his disruptions, likely cautious of provoking Hannah.”
Describing Wilfred, Conor added, “He’s too cowardly and greedy to act without certainty.”
