The Unwanted Luna
Chapter 60

When I open my eyes, I'm staring at the darkened sky of the forest. Blanca helps me stand up in the water. She is smiling at me, her eyes full of kindness and understanding. "You're no longer surrounded by darkness, dear Amelia. Your heart is no longer burdened", she tells me.

I smiled back at her because what she said was the truth. [wpdiscuz-feedback id="dtvf15a3at" question="Please leave a feedback on this" opened="1"]JOBNI B.COM asking for your feedback on this book.[/wpdiscuz-feedback] I felt good, content and happy. "Yes...finally after a very long time" I responded, my eyes drifting to the people standing on the riverbed.

Looking at Xavier and Bianca, I don't feel anything but peace and acceptance. The pain that used to slice through me every time I looked at them isn't there anymore. I don't feel any bitterness or anger or hatred towards them.

Blanca helps me get out of the water. She helps me dry up then I put my clothes back on.

"You're positively glowing" Nolan says, approaching me with a big smile on his face.

I laugh at that because if only he knew how good I felt. How on cloud nine I was soaring. I throw my hands around his shoulder and hugged him closer to me. It felt right being in his arms. Safe.

We let go of each other when Xavier clears his throat. I smile at him and Bianca. They both give me a sheepish smile back but they don't say anything.

"You have an early morning tomorrow so you must rest." Blanca cuts in. "If you want to get the elixir easily, you must get to the temple by three am, because after four, your chances become slim" I nodded and turned to Nolan. "What time is it?"

"Eleven sixteen" he replied, and I looked at him shocked.

I didn't think that it was that late. It seemed that I was in the other world for an hour, maybe two, but by my calculations I have been gone for around seven hours.

"So we should be up by two and that leaves us with around three hours of sleep" I concluded.

"You can make camp near the river, it will be safer" Blanca tells us.

I smiled at her. "Thank you Blanca"

She then disappears into the water and we begin setting up camp. We take our dinner and go to sleep marking the end of the day.

"Amelia, Wake up?" Bianca's voice penetrates my sleep.

I was about to rip into her for waking me up when I remembered what we were supposed to embark on.

"I'm up" I mumbled, still feeling groggy.

It's like I only slept for a minute and then I was up. I wasn't really a morning person, so I wasn't in the best of moods, especially given I hadn't gotten enough of my beauty sleep.

I get out of my sleeping bag and my tent. I find Nolan waiting for me with a cup of coffee. I smile at him before rising up on my toes and pecking his cheek.

"Thank you Nolan" I whispered, taking a sip of the nectar.

"You ready to get your powers back?" he asks me.

"Hell yeah...I've been feeling empty without them. They were a part of me."

Bianca and Xavier come and join us. Each of them with a cup of steaming coffee. After we are done, we take a bath in a nearby pond. We then pack our things up and begin our journey. "So how do we know where we are going?" Bianca asked, holding up a lantern.

"I think we should let Cerberus lead the way. He knew where we were going yesterday, so I'm guessing today won't be any different" I answered.

Said dog barks at us when he notices that we had stopped. We quickened our pace and caught up with him but let him lead us.

While we were walking, Xavier fell in step near me.

"How are you doing Amelia? I feel like I haven't ever asked you that" he begins.

I gave him a sideways look. He was unsure of himself, which was completely different from how I knew him. He probably thought that I was going turn him down or something. "I'm good" I smiled with a shrug. "I am where I need to be mentally and spiritually and I'm okay with that"

He looked at me shocked. I see it in his eyes. He thought that I wouldn't answer his question.

"Wow" he whispers.

"What? You thought that I was going to be snarky, didn't you?" I asked amused.

"Truthfully, I did" he answered, looking at me in awe.

I laughed at that because I found it so funny. Mainly because it is true. I would have been rude to him. Throw his past mistakes in his face, but not anymore.

My anger at them was justified but it was time to finally let it go. I did let it go and I have made amends with my past. Now I can move one.

We don't talk again and walk in comfortable silence.

About thirty minutes later or so, Cerberus stops. I look up to find an intimidating dark temple. There were runes engraved in its walls and torches lit up all around it.

I separate myself from the group and step forward. Wanting a better look at it. There was a large door made of gold, but other than that it looked like any other temple. Well, how you would imagine a temple looking.

"What do you seek?" A voice booms, scaring the shit out of me.

I look around but don't see the owner of the voice.

"What do you seek?" the voice asks again.

"The elixir" I replied, unsure and a bit nervous.

I mean it's not every day that this happens. It was all strange and out of sorts. Suddenly, a fog descends on the place and I am left in it alone.

"Amelia?" I heard Nolan calling, but I couldn't see him. Nor could I see the others.

"Step forward" the same voice commands.

I do that without putting much into it. The moment I do, an old man appears before me. He was not just old, he looked ancient.

His hands reach out and grab on to my temples. His nails dig into my skin. I screamed, feeling like needles were piercing my brain. I heard Nolan and the rest screaming my name. Their voices full of panic and concern, but it all sounded so far away. "Hmm" he mumbles, but doesn't let go.

After what seems like forever, he finally lets me go and I collapse onto the ground tired.

"You have been in contact with the fates" he summarizes.

I nod my head, trying to catch my breath and ease my rapidly beating heart.

"You may take the elixir," He says.

I watch as a golden snake with green eyes slithers from his back. It comes to the front and hisses. Baring it most likely deadly fangs. He gently grabs its head. "What is that?" I asked fearfully because, damn it, I was afraid of the thing.

He responds with a cunning smile. "Well, it's the elixir, my dear."

Before I can do anything or even move, the snake strikes. Wraps itself around my neck right before it pierces its fangs into me and then my world goes black.
