The Unwanted Luna
Chapter 61

I wake up in the same field that I was in when I entered the cleansing river. My head and neck was throbbing. I rub the spot where the snake bit me but my hands come off with blood. "When you wake up, the wound will be healed" a very familiar voice says behind.

I whip my head so fast that I get a crick and fuck is it painful.

Fate number one smiles. "Told you we would be seeing you soon."

I really needed to ask for their names. Going by numbers isn't right, but I would have to ask them later on. Right now we had more important things to discuss.

"Why did no one tell me that the elixir was a snake?" I asked, still rubbing on the sore spot.

"Technically speaking, the elixir isn't a snake. It's venom. The snake is just the elixir carrier. Just a vessel", the second one replies.

That made more sense honestly. It was better than thinking that the dangerous looking snake was the elixir.

"It would have been good to be warned at least," I mumbled,

"And where would the fun in that be? You should have seen your face when the snake slithered from behind Hotu's back. It was priceless". The first one was laughing and so were the rest.

I presume that Hotu is the old man.

"I'm glad that I was a comical relief" I said sarcastically, folding my hands across my chest.

The third one rubs my back in comfort. "Don't be like that my love, we were only jesting."

I sigh and let her comforting aura envelop me.

"So does this usually happen?" I asked, motioning to the bite mark on my neck.

"Not many people get to that stage, mostly because, like Blanca told you, they always get the time wrong and the shifting of the walls, the puzzles, the trials, obstacles and studying the ancient texts usually drives them into madness. If they manage to get through and meet Hotu also end up being mad because Hotu's invasion of their minds leaves their brains scrambled. The one or two who finally manage to get to the last stage, receiving the elixir, always end up dying, after being killed by Basilisk" Fate number three answers.

I look at her in question so she explains further.

"You see, as we speak, Basilisk, the snake, is still latched to your neck. He is sifting through your spirit and soul. His venom is pouring into you, and not just into your physical body. If he finds any darkness inside you, that is dark desires or a character like greed or dark emotions like hatred, then the venom will kill you. If not, then you will receive the power of the elixir." She finishes.

"No one has ever been able to get the elixir and the few who made it to the last stage died because almost all of them were filled with greed, the need for vengeance, anger, hatred, selfishness and bitterness" fate number two says.

"That's why Mozart told me to cleanse myself first, isn't it? He sensed the anger and bitterness I carried. It's also why Agron never came for the elixir. He knew it would kill him and he couldn't cleanse himself in the river because then he would be free and would forgive", I conclude. It all made sense now, because ever since I found out about the elixir and its ability to grant someone powers, I wondered why Agron bothered with me so much when he could have easily gotten but now I understand it wasn't easy. "Yes...if you didn't heal and let go of the negativity, then the elixir would have killed you instead" the first fate says.

"So what happens now?" I asked.

"You already know which of the primordial deities you have to wake, right?" the second one asks, and I nod my head in affirmation.

"Now we are going to teach you how to wake them up. It's a complex ritual and you have to stay focused or else one wrong move and you will bring disaster to all of us. Do you understand?" The first one asked.

"You have to do everything as we instruct you too. Follow it step by step and don't skip a thing", the third continues.

"I understand"

And I did. The fate of the entire world was on me and I couldn't afford to mess anything up. Everything has to be perfect.

"The ritual will first transport you to their minds where you will have to speak to them and let them know what you're about to. It will be kind of like how we are speaking now. The moment they agree now, you can complete the rest of the incantation. For this to work they must be in agreement with you. They must want to wake up. Otherwise the entire thing will not work." The second fate says.

"Of all the fates, the three you will wake up are the only ones who wanted to be put to sleep. They didn't desire power or to rule so they weren't angry when the first generation of deities put them to sleep. That's why we are telling you that you have to convince them to allow you to wake them up so they can help you" she finishes.

They proceed to tell me everything I need and have to do. They take me through the entire thing. Explaining everything.

I was about to say something when their eyes turned white and unfocused. A second or two later, they turned back to normal but there was something behind them.

"You have to wake up now" The first fate says urgently.

"It looks like we miscalculated" the third one says to the rest.

The second fate nods her head. "Yes, time is no longer by our side."

"We will be with you, but only you can end this war, Lia. Do not let us down" the first one says.

I don't get a chance to respond because I am wrenched backwards and everything disappears.

When I open my eyes, I am back in the forest. I was lying on the grass and my eyes were staring at the sky, which was now blue and the sun had risen.

"You're the first one to ever survive Basilisk's bite...it means you're worthy" Hotu's voice brought my eyes to him.

I smiled at him and sat up. I don't feel any change, so that confuses me, but then I remember that the forest blocked Nolan's powers, so maybe it did the same with me. I stared at the snake that is wrapped around his frail arm. Its eyes looked intelligent. Like Basilisk wasn't just an animal.

"Thank you Hotu" I told him, standing up on my feet.

"I pray that you will be successful in this war. That you will finally put an end to everything" he says.

"I will try"

He stares at me for a while, then he gives me a toothy smile before he disappears. The fog clears and I see Nolan and the rest.

I was about to smile but my lips became frozen when I see the look in their eyes. Something wasn't okay.

"What's wrong?" I asked. A bit of panic sets in.

Nolan's jaw is clenched when he answers. "Agron and Khaos are here...seems like they've brought the fight to us."

My face hardens and I slip into battle mode. I understand why the fates said that time was no longer on our side."

We needed all the help we could get on such short notice and I knew exactly who to call.

With a determination to win. I take out my necklace and whisper one word.

"Hades"
