Alissa Soleil's POV

"Hello, Dr. Ellis" Luke said with a smirk on his face as blood dripped down on his forehead.

What the hell is he doing here.

"Dr. Ellis" the nurse caught my attention.

I snapped back into reality as I walked to Luke's side.

"What happened?" I asked.

"We asked him earlier and he didn't tell us" the nurse said.

Luke had multiple wounds and he looked like an absolute mess.

I looked at him as he stared at me.

"What happened to you?" I asked.

He shouldn't be bleeding like this.

By now, he should've healed completely.

"I got mugged" he said with a shrug.

I raised a brow at him.

"You got...mugged?" I said confused and in disbelief.

Luke nodded.

"I didn't think the city would be this dangerous" he said.

My jaw clenched.

"Doctor, do you want me to run his labs?" the resident asked me.

"No" I immediately answered.

Both the nurse and the resident was stunned with my response.

I bit my lower lip.

"I already know what's wrong with this patient. I don't need his labs taken. Thank you" I said calmly.

If his labs get taken, it'll cause a commotion.

After all, Luke wasn't human.

"Can you guys just do me a favor?" I said.

"Yes, doctor" they answered.

"Please step out and if possible do not let anyone. I mean, ANYONE here while I treat this patient by myself" I said.

They were shocked but agreed.

The nurse and resident stepped out and I turned to look at Luke.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"I'm here to get treated" he said.

I scoffed.

"What did you take? Why aren't you healing?" I said.

Luke shrugged.

"I don't know. You tell me. You're the doctor" he said. My jaw clenched.

"I treat humans. Not beings like you" I said.

Luke tilted his head to the side as he looked at me.

"You treated that girl in the woods, didn't you? In addition to that, you seem to know a lot about 'beings like me, don't you?" he said.

I squinted my eyes at him.

"Okay. Let's say I do. So what? I've met a couple of you guys before. Maybe even treated a few. I'm a doctor after all. That doesn't mean anything else. I'm still a HUMAN General Surgeon" I said. "You've only met a few of us? Aren't you one of us?" he said.

"Do you think those wolves from that pack wouldn't tell me about you? How you appeared to them in your wolf form amd shifted back into your human form?" he said.

I didn't answer.

"I know" he added.

"Fine. You know. But I'm still not like you. You should know that by now" I said.

Luke smirked.

"I don't think so" he said then he looked at my hand.

"That bruise healed a little too quickly than I thought it would" he said.

My brows furrowed as I hid my wrist.

Damn it.

"You know, you really had me there for a moment. I really was convinced" he said.

"But then you met up with me that night" he added.

"Even underneath your sleeves, I was able to tell that your bruise healed pretty quickly. I knew then that I was right" he said.

My jaw clenched.

Luke looked at me straight in the eyes.

"What happened to you, Alissa?" he asked as his eyes softened.

I was taken aback but quickly composed myself.

"Are we really doing this again?" I said.

"I already told you. Whoever it is that you think I am, you're mistaken" I said.

Luke still looked at me.

"You made another mistake that night" he said.

I raised a brow at him.

"It wasn't me that you saw. You saw my wolf and knew. Then, you came" he same.

I gulped.

I hadn't even realized that.

"I know it's you so why do you keep denying it?" he said with a hint of pain in his voice.

"Are you still mad at me? Alissa, I can explain everything to you now" he said.

I bit my lower lip.

"I don't need to hear anything from you" I said.

"I'm not the person you're looking for so stop. Stop whatever it is that you're trying to pull here. You're not going to get anything from me except a restraining order" I said. Luke looked at me with a pained expression.

I sighed.

"Do you still want to get treated?" I asked.

Luke bit his lower lip then nodded.

"Then, let someone else treat you because I'm not going to touch you" I said then I walked out of there.

And as expected, I saw Calum waiting with the nurse and resident.

"Dr. Ellis" he said.

"Dr. Williams, I need your help" I said.

The nurse and resident stepped aside as Calum looked at me.

"What is it?" he asked.

"I need you" I said.

Cal nodded and went to me to go back to where Luke was.

I opened the curtain as we got in and Cal's eyes slightly widened when he saw him.

Then, his brows furrowed and he turned to look at me.

Luke didn't look too happy to see him either.

"What is he doing here?" Cal asked.

"I should be asking her the same question. What is this punk doing here?" Luke slightly growled.

I glared at Luke and he looked away from Calum with a frown.

"I don't know but he had multiple injuries that aren't healing. I don't know what he took" I said.

"Won't it be wolf's bane?" Cal asked me.

"Might be" I said.

I looked at Luke.

"I don't want him to treat me" he said.

"Bleed out then. Go ahead" I said..

Luke frowned.

"I don't want to treat you either. Just go find your own doctor or bleed out" Calum said.

Luke scoffed and so did Calum.

"Cal, please. He can't leave the hospital looking like that. We'll likely be sued" I said.

Cal sighed and he looked at Luke with a frown.

"So annoying" Calum muttered as he walked over to Luke and grabbed a pair of gloves.

"I'll assist you but I'm not touching him" I said.

"You better not" Cal said.

"What did you say?" Luke slightly growled at Calum.

"Knock it off" I said in a warning tone and Luke just scoffed and looked at me instead of Calum.

I assisted Cal as he treated Luke's wound.

Neither Calum nor Luke was happy the whole process.

Luke stared at me the whole time.

After we treated Luke, Cal and I stepped aside.

"He can still hear you, you know?" I said.

Cal's jaw clenched.

"Yeah" he said.

"What is it?" I asked.

Cal closed his eyes in frustration for a moment.

"Due to his head injury, we have to keep him overnight for observation. I'm sorry" he said.

I sighed and closed my eyes as I bit my lower lip in frustration.

"We can't just let him go. The fact that we didn't get his labs or any further tests can already get us into trouble. We need to monitor him for the night atleast so no one will think that we neglected his treatment" he explained. I nodded.

"I know" I said.

"Don't worry, I'm here with you anyway" he assured me.

I nodded again and gave Cal a smile.

"I know" I said and Calum smiled as well.

We turned to look at the closed curtains again.

Then, we walked over to it and opened it.

Luke had a serious expression on his face.

"You heard everything already, didn't you?" I said.

"I did. I like the first part. Not the last part though" he said and I glanced at Cal who was staring at Luke with a blank face.

I sighed.

"We'll get you transferred to a room. Will you process your own papers or do you have someone with you?" I asked.

Luke looked at me for a moment.

"I have someone with me" he said.

I nodded.

"We'll let them process your papers then" I said and I held Cal's hand and pulled him out of there with me.

"I really don't like that guy" he muttered.

"I'm not very fond of him either" I said as we walked to the waiting room together to find Luke's company.

I was sure he wouldn't go here by himself.

He must have atleast brought one of his bodyguards.

We got to the waiting room and I looked around.

I should be able to tell which one from their werewolf scent.

Then, my eyes landed on one guy and he lifted his head up and met my eyes.

My eyes widened as I stepped back.

Cal placed his hand behind me.

"What's wrong?" he asked worried.

The man's eyes slightly widened as he stared at me and he stood up.

Axel.

He walked over to us and I froze in my place.

"Soleil" Cal said but I suddenly felt like I couldn't breathe.

Why?

Why did it have to be him?

Cal must have realized what was happening when he saw the man walking to us and he stood in front of me hiding behind me.

"You must be HIS guardian" Cal said.

I closed my eyes as I held on to one of Cal's hand.

"Please settle some paperwork for an overnight stay. We need to monitor the patient because of his injuries" Cal said.

Axel didn't answer.

"I'll have a nurse assist you" Cal added and he called a nurse nearby and had him assisted.

Cal hid me behind his back as Axel left with the nurse.

I sighed in relief and my knees weakened.

Cal held me up and he helped me walk.

We took the elevator to his office and I still felt like I was going to fall.

Out of everyone he could have brought with him, he brought Axel.

Did he do intentionally?

I'm pretty sure that Axel would've retired by now.

So why him?

Does he know?

Did he yell him?

We arrived at Calum's office and he sat me on his chair and then locked the door.

"What's wrong? Did you know that man from earlier?" he asked.

I nodded then looked at Cal.

"Yes" I said.

"He's uh...he's my step-father" I told him.

Cal looked shocked and I held my head in frustration.

"Out of all the people he could've brought, he brought my step-father. Ghad. He's so fcking annoying" I said and put my head down on the table.

"No wonder you were so shaken up" Cal said then I heard him open something then he walked over to me and put something down on the table.

I lifted my head and realized it was a bottle of water.

Cal opened it for me and I took a drink.

"He's doing this all on purpose. I just know it. He's trying to push me to admit to him that I am who he thinks I am" I said with a sigh.

"I changed my name. I bleached my hair to blonde. My skin was light before but it's pretty tanned now. My body isn't like how it was before either. My eyes, they're different. It's been 13 years. A lot of things have changed about me since I left. I don't understand how they could still recognize me" I said massaging my temple.

"Sometimes physical changes isn't enough to convince someone that they're a different person" Cal said and I looked at him.

"If you dyed your hair black, lightened your skin, gained or lose weight, become fit or not and change your eye color and no matter how much time has passed by, I think I'd still recognize you" he said.

I looked at Cal curiously.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because it's you" he answered.

Then, there was a moment of silence.

"You're right" I said in defeat as I put my head down.

Calum is right.
