BLAIRE

I didn't sleep a wink last night. I've been thinking about the jewelry box Sebastian left in Blaze's room last night. I lost count of how many times I tried to pick up my phone and call him, only stopping myself before I could even do it. In the end, I just decided to wait for him to pick up Blaze tomorrow for school and talk to him.

Sebastian usually arrives an hour early on Blaze's schedule. I've been fidgeting since the clock struck seven. However, fifteen minutes had passed and there was still no sign of Sebastian.

It didn't take long before I received a text from him.

I can't bring Blaze to school today. I have an important meeting to attend. I'm sorry. I'll make it up to him. later. Thank you.

That's what his text said. For some reason, his message made me angry. Since we started this arrangement, he has never missed Blaze's school events. Even if he had an important meeting, he always found a way to make time for it. What's so different now? I can't help but think it has something to do with the woman I saw on the news. Is he prioritizing her over his own son?

"Mommy, is Daddy not coming today?" Blaze asked, his innocent eyes filled with disappointment.

I forced a smile, trying to mask my frustration. "No, sweetheart. Daddy got caught up in something important. But he loves you very much, and he'll make it up to you," I said, my voice as soothing as I could make it.

Blaze nodded, but I could see the sadness in his eyes. My heart ached for him. I knew I had to confront Sebastian about this. He needed to understand that no matter what was happening in his personal life, Blaze should always come first. Please visit Jo b nib.co m and search the book title to read the entire book for free. "Come on, let's get you to school," I said, taking Blaze's hand. We walked to the car, and I buckled him into his seat. His quietness during the drive was a stark contrast to his usual bubbly chatter. As I pulled up to the school, I turned to Blaze. "Have a great day, okay? Mommy will be here to pick you up later," I assured him, giving him a kiss on the forehead.

Blaze nodded and gave me a small smile before getting out of the car. I watched him walk toward the school building, his small backpack bouncing with each step.

I sat in the car for a moment, gripping the steering wheel tightly. Anger and determination bubbled within me. If Sebastian wanted to go out and date whoever he wanted, that was his business. But if it affected our son, I wouldn't stand by and let it happen. I grabbed my phone and called Lisa to let her know I'd be running late for work. "Hey, Lisa, it's Blaire. I'm going to be late today. Something urgent came up. Can you cover for me until I get there?"

"Sure thing, Blaire. Take care of whatever you need to," Lisa replied, her tone understanding.

"Thanks, Lisa. I appreciate it," I said before hanging up.

I couldn't let this day pass without talking to Sebastian. I wasn't sure if my anger was due to him neglecting his duty to our son or because he might have chosen that woman over us. A tiny voice in my head whispered that I wasn't even sure there was another woman, and I hated that the voice was right. But I needed answers.

I drove back home, my mind racing with thoughts of what I would say to Sebastian. When I arrived, I headed straight to my bedroom and grabbed the jewelry box with the emerald necklace. Clutching it tightly, I went straight to Sebastian's office.

The drive to his office felt like an eternity. My heart pounded in my chest, and I couldn't help but replay the image of Sebastian on the news, handing that woman the same necklace. I needed to know the truth.

I parked my car and walked briskly into the building, my determination fueling each step. The receptionist gave me a curious glance, but I ignored it, heading straight to the elevator. As I rode up to his floor, I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. When I reached his office, his secretary immediately blocked me from entering, which makes me even more suspicious.

"I'm sorry, ma'am. But do you have an appointment? I'm afraid that Mr. Foster is in a very important meeting, and I can't allow you to get inside," she said.

"She's here?" I asked, raising my eyebrow.

"I'm not sure who you are referring to, miss. But if you mean Miss Jaqueline, then yes, she's inside," she answered.

I knew it! My fury boiled over as I barged into the office, shoving his secretary aside. I didn't bother knocking, as I pushed the door and walked inside unannounced.

I found Sebastian sitting behind his desk, looking up in surprise. His expression quickly shifted to concern when he saw the determined look on my face.

What made me even furious was the sight of a beautiful woman leaning over his table as if he were telling him something as she pointed her finger at the table. "Blaire, what are you doing here?" he asked, standing up.

I walked up to his desk and placed the jewelry box on it with a loud thud. "You forgot this at home. I assume you might need it to give to your girlfriend, so I took the liberty to bring it to you myself. You're welcome," I said sarcastically.

He glanced at the box, then back at me. A smile slowly crawled onto his face. "Blaire, it's not what you think."

"Oh, I think it's exactly what I think. You missed Blaze's school drop-off. Is this what your priorities have become? You're in a meeting? Really? Meeting my a*s," I said as I crossed my arms in front of his chest. My breathing was heavy as I waited for him to speak. Instead of explaining, there's a playful smile playing on his lips. He bit his lower lip as if he were trying to hold his laugh.

"This looks funny to you, Sebastian?" I asked, irritation seeping into my voice. "So, you call this a meeting?" My eyes darted between him and the beautiful woman standing beside him.

"But, honey, we really are," he replied, gesturing with his lips behind me.

Frowning, I turned slowly to follow the direction of his gesture. My eyes widened in surprise as I saw a long table filled with at least ten people, all staring at me. The room was filled with charts, documents, and a presentation screen lit up with graphs. It was clearly a business meeting, and I had just made a scene.

Embarrassment flushed my cheeks as I realized my mistake. "I'm sorry," I stammered, glancing back at Sebastian and the woman beside him.

Sebastian's expression softened, but there was a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Honey, this is Jackie, owner of Bella Gioielli. We'll be launching the partnership of her jewelry brand with our malls."

Jackie stepped forward, extending a hand with a polite smile. "It's nice to meet you, Mrs. Foster. I've heard a lot about you."

I shook her hand, feeling the tension in the room. "Nice to meet you too," I managed, my voice barely above a whisper. I am so embarrassed right now. How the hell did I end up in this situation? "You can leave now," Sebastian said, his tone firm.

"Of course," I quickly replied, turning towards the door. But I hadn't even taken a few steps when I heard his deep baritone voice again.

"Not you," he said, grabbing my arm and pulling me closer to him. His grip was firm yet gentle, sending a jolt through me. He turned to the room, addressing the gathered executives and team members. "Let's continue this meeting tomorrow. Thank you, and have a good day."

The room filled with the rustling of papers and the murmurs of voices as everyone began to pack up. I stood there, still processing what had just happened, as the attendees filed out one by one. Sebastian's hold on my arm was a reminder of his presence, and the intensity of his gaze made my heart race.

Once the room was empty, I tried to move away from him, but his grip got even tighter. We were close enough that I could feel the heat emanating from his body.

"So, you were saying?" He said, his voice softer now but no less intense.

I tried to open my mouth, but nothing came out. I was still feeling a mix of embarrassment and confusion. After a few attempts, I finally had the courage to apologize. I'm sorry for barging in like that. I just-

He cut me off by claiming my lips, silencing me with a deep, passionate kiss. My initial shock melted into the warmth of his embrace, and I found myself responding to his kiss with an intensity that surprised even me. The world around us seemed to fade away, leaving only the heat between us and the pounding of my heart.

When he finally let go, I was breathless, my mind swirling with a whirlwind of emotions. His forehead rested against mine, and his eyes were dark with desire.

"You have no idea how long I've been wanting to do that," he said, his breathing heavy and ragged.

I stared into his eyes, searching for words but finding none. Instead, I placed my hand on his chest, feeling the rapid beat of his heart mirroring my own. "Sebastian," I whispered, my voice trembling with a mixture of fear and longing.

His hands framed my face, his thumbs gently brushing my cheeks. "Blaire, I know things have been complicated between us, but I can't deny how I feel anymore. I can't pretend I don't want you; I need you."

I closed my eyes, leaning into his touch. "So, that woman... she's not your girlfriend?"

He chuckled. "She's not."

"But the news said..."

"What news?" he asked, frowning.

"I saw you two on TV. You were holding that necklace. "I thought you were on a date," I admitted, pouting my lips like a child as I felt a wave of embarrassment wash over me.

He chuckled softly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I don't watch TV, so pardon me if I had no idea about the rumors circulating about me. It's probably the day I met Jackie to get the necklace I bought for you," he explained.

I felt my cheeks burn hotter at his explanation, the embarrassment deepening. How could I have been so quick to doubt him? I felt like a fool, jumping to conclusions and accusing him of so many things without bothering to clear it up with him first.

"I'm sorry," I mumbled, my voice barely above a whisper. "I should have asked you about it first instead of assuming the worst."

Sebastian's expression softened, and he pulled me closer, his arms wrapping around me in a comforting embrace. "Hey, it's alright," he murmured into my hair. "I kind of enjoy watching you get so heated up in jealousy."

"I am not!" I firmly denied it, pushing against his chest playfully.

He chuckled, the sound vibrating through his chest. "Oh, really? Then why did you barge into my office like a storm and practically interrogate me in front of everyone?"

I felt my cheeks flush even deeper. "I was just...concerned," I mumbled, trying to maintain a shred of dignity. "You didn't show up to take Blaze to school."

He cut me off with a quick peck on the lips. "You have nothing to worry about. I only have eyes for you."

I squinted at him, a warning glint in my eyes as I realized he had become increasingly comfortable with kissing me since I arrived. Our bodies were close, and I could practically feel the growing bulge between his legs. "You're getting rather comfortable with this, aren't you?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

He grinned mischievously before placing another kiss on my lips. "I'm just making the most out of it before you go back to kicking my a*s," he teased.

I chuckled, feeling a mix of amusement and desire. His playfulness was infectious, and despite my initial skepticism, I found myself enjoying the closeness between us. It felt like we were rediscovering each other, rekindling a flame that had never truly gone out. "Well, don't get too used to it," I retorted with a playful smirk. "You still have a lot to make up for."

He pulled me closer, his hands resting gently on my waist. "I'm up for the challenge,' he said softly, his eyes locked with mine.

I felt a rush of warmth at his touch and his words. Despite our past struggles, there was an undeniable connection between us, a bond that seemed to grow stronger with each moment we spent together.

"Good," I replied, unable to suppress the smile that spread across my face. "Because I'm not going anywhere."

With that, he kissed me again, his lips capturing mine in a tender embrace. In that moment, I knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, we would face them together. Our journey wasn't over-it was just beginning, filled with hope, forgiveness, and a renewed sense of love.
