Chapter 109

Alpha Niyol’s POV

After everybody on the judging table had sat down in a semicircle arrangement, I began the meeting to decide the fate of Scarlet and Henry.

“Now I’m sure that all of you have listened to The witnesses with utmost attention and you have all seen the evidence that have been brought before all of you, now I want all of your completely honest and unbiased opinions concerning this before I voice out my own…”

I said to the people leaning back on my seat and crossing my legs waiting for their answers.

“Your majesty…” One of the oldest judges on the table stood up and give me a bow.

“I think I speak for everyone one here on this table when I say that this case is as clear as black and white. The witnesses have spoken and the evidences as well and the story doesn’t seem to be twisted until it gets to the suspects talking, so it is very clear that both of them are guilty, but I hope I am not too pompous to assume that we did not just come here to dance around that, but rather to come to a befitting punishment for both of them…”

I smiled, the grey hairs on the man’s head were not for decoration.

“Well, since you have pointed that out, we can get it out of the way, or is there anyone who thinks that they are innocent? Do speak up…”

They was mumbling over the large semicircular table, but nobody denied what I said or tried to go against it, as we were able to proceed smoothly to the next course of action.

“Now what do you think would be a befitting punishment for them?”

Some suggested that both of them should pay a hefty fine to the palace, other suggested that they be made into rogues while some just plainly said that they should be killed for their crimes. At the end of it all, there was a lot of division.

And so it was put to a vote, but then it ended up with a tie considering whether to kill them off immediately or allow them to suffer even longer.

“Niyol what do we do now? it’s a tie…”

“I shook my head suddenly realising something.

“Actually, it’s not a tie there is someone that has not come yet to the judging table… Leaving a seat empty…”

I nodded as I saw realisation spreading through all of their faces.

“Your majesty, do you mean the incoming Luna Queen?” My Gamma asked me and I nodded.

“Her decision will be the final tiebreaker for this case.”

“Your majesty, I do not mean to question the value of our future Queen’s opinion, but don’t you think that she will be a bit biased to this case, since it is something that concerns her?”

I shook my head to that question.

“She’s actually the reason this whole trial is being held at all, if not, I would have used both of their skulls to decorate the gate of the pala-“

Just then I suddenly heard Koko in mind link, was she missing me so much that she couldn’t even wait for me to be done with the meeting?

Maybe it was something important, if she was trying to reach me this frantically. I allowed her voice go through.

“Niyol… Please someone has taken Liam and his mother doesn’t even know when, but it has to be today… Probably some hours ago…”

Immediately I heard that, I got up from my seat and walked out, leaving everyone around me in shock, but then I turned to Chester and Ethan.

Chester had reacted, but Ethan was as still as a statue, I’m guessing his mate had already mind linked and told him what was happening.

“Ethan you need to pull yourself together…”

I was not done talking before he stood up.

“Whoever did this… I’ll rip them to shreds…”

Then he got up and marched out. I explained the situation to Chester as I signalled the warriors to begin searching every corner of the palace and beyond.

How could someone be so disgusting and messed up that they would even kidnap a baby? I went to see my sister and when I came to her chamber, she was crying on the floor completely inconsolable as Koko and my mother tried their best to do so.

I came to Koko and she told me that Ethan had not been here yet, but he was probably searching with the warriors.

“I found something…”

My mother said to me as she handed me a my piece of paper.

“It was in Liam’s crib…” She said, as she should handed it to me, her face covered with tears, and when my eyes went through the paper, I could not believe what I was seeing.

“How could this have happened?” I growled.

The note read; if you never want to see your brat again, release Scarlet and Henry and declare them innocent in front of the whole Kingdom. The clock is ticking, if you fail to do this before 12’O clock, the baby will die.

I gave the note over to Chester and his eyes widened.

“Wait, I can’t believe this.. this is…”

Then it seemed like his eyes had fallen on the parts that said that we should thank him, that none of this would have been possible without him.

“Niyol…”

“Just don’t worry about it, you are my most trusted man, I know that the enemies are just trying to make me distrust you, but they must be really stupid if they think all they need to do is write a bunch of lies on a piece of paper.”

I expected him to confirm what I said immediately, but instead, he just said in a rather sober voice.

“So your majesty what are we going to do now? Are we going to give them what they want?”

Immediately I shook my head.

“I don’t know.. maybe, maybe not… There is no way to guarantee that they have not already hurt Liam, or if they would before the deadline that they had given….”

Before I could say anything else, my sister ran towards me and grabbed me.

“Niyol.. please give them what they want, I will not ask you for anything else for the rest of my life, but just give me this. I’m begging you, I can’t live without my baby please.. please brother.. I’m begging you….”

I hugged her, but she pushed me away.

“You are not going to do it are you? I’m sorry that I even asked you I…”

She suddenly paused, tears running freely down her face.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to say that, I just want my baby back…”

Before I could respond to her, Koko came over and took my hand pulling me aside.

“I have an idea…” She mind linked me.

“What idea?”

I asked her.

“It’s simple Niyol, a way to get back Liam and also make sure that Scarlett and Henry gets what they deserve.”
