Chapter 115

Koko’s POV

“What do you mean by I should sit this one out?”

I asked my mate, placing my hands on my h**s and looking straight at him, with a questioning expression on my face. He was also at the gate of the palace with warriors behind us and rushing.

“Don’t you believe in me at all?” I asked him, but he was not even looking at me and was headed straight like an arrow and finally I could not take it anymore. I grabbed him by his hand.

“Give me one good reason why I should sit this out? I just want to come along and see if there’s anything I can do at all.”

Then suddenly he pulled me over to his chest. He did it gently and told the warriors to keep going ahead and that he will catch up with them soon.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that I’m underestimating you, but right now you are pregnant and it’s not good for you to be stressed out like this, and that seems to be the only thing that’s happening right now.

So what you need to do is to go to sleep… Think about the baby and get all the rest that you need.”

My chest immediately fell.

I was so worried about Chester that I did not even think about how tired and fatigued I was and even worse of all, I did not consider the baby.

It was just that he had been one of the few people that had always gone the extra mile for me and he was also my mate’s best friend.

“Ok then, that means I don’t have any other choice but just to wish you good luck and ask you to be careful too…”

He gave me a quick peck on the forehead and then ran ahead to meet up with the warriors. He even asked Julianna to stay back and there was no way she could even argue with it, because she was so tired that I wondered how she made it to our room without collapsing at all.

She said that when it happened, she tried to check the river to see if there was any sign of him, but she did not get anything, instead, she was continuously just getting splashed.

Then she got into the car that they took, but it broke down on the way and she immediately came down and started running towards the palace without any break.

She was now recovering in the royal clinic. I went there to see her. When I got there, I had to talk to her and the doctor he said that she was improving steadily, I let out a very loud sigh of relief.

At least if she was out of the woods, then we would only have to worry about getting Chester back safe and sound and I knew that my mate could take care of that without any problem, so there was no need to stress about it and with that in mind, I allowed the doctor to lead me towards her bed.

I was surprised that when I got there she was already sitting up, trying to tie her hair up.

“Juliana!” I rushed towards her and her head snapped towards my direction when she noticed that somebody had called her name and then she nodded.

“Koko you didn’t have to come and see me here, you should be resting right now…”

I let out a little sarcastic laugh, because it had to be a joke coming from her. How could I be sleeping on my bed when my mate was outside in the woods looking for his Beta, that could be either dead or alive? How would I even be able to get to sleep knowing all of that?

“Juliana, how can I manage any sort of sleep in this situation?”

“You are pregnant and the last thing that you need right now is more things to stress you out. What you need to do is get some good rest, everything will be taken care of. I’m going to join the search team.”

“You are going to join the search team? what kind of hypocrisy is that? you told me to go and rest that I’m pregnant and then you say you are going out, even though you are shaking so much that you can’t even tie your hair?”

She turned to me, looking like a guilty kid that had been found with their fingers down in the cookie jar.

“I might be sick, but I have more reasons to go out there, my mate is out there an-“

“So is mine…”

I said, placing my hands on my chest.

“..but with both our conditions, we will only end up with drawing them back.”

“So you’re telling me that I should just sit here and cross my hands and wait for them to bring Chester back for me?”

“Well, if they are not able to, they shouldn’t be trying to save Chester and at the same time protect you.”

She seemed to finally understand what I was saying, her head was falling as she nodded, holding her hands together.

“I think you are right, if I was even going along with them now, I will only be a distraction because they will practically be dragging me around like a corpse…”

She let out a little awkward laugh.

“Ok, I’ve heard you, going with them would only make me a burden, like an extra luggage. I’m practically shaking…”

She nodded in agreement.

“Do you mind bringing me something hot that could warm up my body, maybe like some tea, if it’s not too much trouble…”

I immediately shook my head, happy that I had been able to get through to her. She seemed so stubborn earlier, it was as if I was talking to a brick wall, but now we were communicating properly.

I told her to rest that a maid would be bringing her some hot soup with chicken later.

She thanked me for that, but as I was going, I felt a little pit in my stomach and then I turned around to her and she nodded at me.

“Something wrong?” She asked me and I shook my head, maybe I was just having a little stomach pain.

Should I get it checked with the doctor? I better attend to her first.

I went to find a maid and told her to make a delicious chicken soup and bring it to Julianna.

I was going to my Chambers to rest when all of a sudden the maid came to find me and she was screaming frantically. I wondered if something had gone wrong, with the way she looked so pale.

“I’m so sorry your majesty.. but I burnt the chicken soup.. is it okay if I make another one?”

Oh that was it?

“Well next time, you should be more attentive and since we need something out right now, then maybe you can make her a cup of tea…”

After she made the tea, I decided to take it to Juliana to make sure that she drank all of it, but then when I arrived, juliana’s bed was empty.
