Chapter 125

Niyol’s POV

I could feel my heart pounding like a drum, tonight had finally come. I would finally mark my mate.

My hand came to her shoulder and I felt her shiver under my touch, but then suddenly the magical moment was broken by a loud crashing sound. She panicked looking up at me and both of us rushed out of the Royal meeting chamber to see what was the cause of the rukus.

We came back to the throne room to see two of the royal guards struggling to hold back an obviously drunk male who kept screaming.

“She Is mine! She is mine!”

This scene was so stupefying that I was frozen with absolute shock. Who was this fool that had a death wish?

Before I could tell the guards to throw him out, his eyes suddenly came over to me and my mates and locked on us, well, in particular Koko. He suddenly burst from the hold of the guards, then he began to run towards her.

“Just what do you think you are doing? Are you out of your freaking mind?”

The man in front of me was either quite brave or quite stupid. Despite my rebuke which would have made an average alpha and his entire pack run Helter skelter, without thinking twice, he stood stubbornly, like a cockroach.

“Koko, that’s you right? it’s me Gad, your darling mate.”

As soon as he said that, the entire throne room became suddenly quiet, from the previous bubbly celebrating atmosphere, that even if a pin had dropped, everyone would have heard it like a shelf of bottles falling and shattering on the floor.

“Guards come and get this drunk out of my sight, before he spits any more nonsense…”

My voice suddenly froze in my throat when I felt my mate tugging my shirt from behind and she whispered.

“Niyol, he is actually his mate…”

It was as if the ground below my feet was suddenly spinning. I turned over to my mate, but not before I saw the drunk’s nasty smirk.

“My dear, what are you saying? I am your mate, not this drunk fool!”

She placed her hand on my cheek and then she told me to trust her, not with her words, but with her eyes. So I stepped back, but close enough to stop the idiot in case he tried anything else.

“Gad, what are you doing here?”

“Gad, what are you doing here?”

The fool could not even notice how her voice was so cold and dispassionate towards him as he smiled from ear-to-ear.

“Koko, my beautiful mate. I’m sure that this man has tried to brainwash you with his power, but you remember right, your love for me?”

It took every fiber of self control in my body not to punch his face right into the wall after he said that. But Koko told me to trust her and I was going to do exactly that, even though it was drawing every straw of my patience.

“Yes, Gad, after all you are the first person to reject me…”

I felt as if cold water had been thrown over my body, so this was the bastard that had rejected her the first time and now all he actually had the audacity to claim her as his mate?

“How could I possibly forget the love that tore me apart every single day when you reminded me that I wasn’t worthy of you? When I will see you with my sister and when you do things just to torment me. How could I forget that ‘love’…?”

Her voice was becoming more acidic and bitter as she spoke. a little bit of realization seemed to pass through his eyes, but there was no single sign of guilt.

“Well all of that is now in the past Koko. After losing you, I realized just how much I really care about you.. so what do you say? come back with me to the pack…”

I saw how my mate’s hand clenched up into fist.

“What do I have to say? Well it’s very simple, I Koko, now of the royal palace reject you Gad Brown as my mate…”

The look of absolute shock on his face was enough to surprise another person. After all the terrible things he had done to her, he was really expecting her to run back into his arms when she had found true love?

“You can’t be serious! Koko it’s me, the person you were always begging to see you, well now I see you when I want you, Kok-“

He started walking towards her, then I decided that I could not hold myself anymore and I was about to punch him to the floor till he flattened like a pancake, but suddenly before I could do it, she slapped him.

“Don’t you dare touch me! you disgusting low life!”

He was so unprepared for the attack and was so drunk that he fell immediately to the floor.

“Koko!”

It was at that point that an older man came and grabbed the drunk by his arm and pulled him away.

“Gad please stop this, can’t you see that you are bringing shame to our pack?”

“What is shameful in demanding that my father let me go!”

I couldn’t take it any longer, so, I finally signaled the guards to come and drag him away and throw him into the cells.

Even as he was being dragged away by more guards, he was still looking at Koko.

“Koko, I know you still love me!” He said at the top of his voice as he kicked his foot.

“You can’t reject me, you can never reject me! The moon goddess gave you to me and that is how it will be…!”

I pulled my mate close to myself and held her in an embrace that was so deep that hopefully she would not be able to hear the nonsense that he was spouting. I could feel her trembling in my embrace and I held her even tighter.

I called Chester over and told him to inform the guests, especially the dignitaries that the mating ceremony had been cancelled, I could see how disappointed my mate was.

I was also very disappointed as well. Of course, this was supposed to be a wonderful and magical moment, a night that we will never forget.

Well, it was definitely a night we’ll never forget, but not in the way that we had hoped. She placed her head on my chest and she said something that was so gentle that I didn’t catch it the first time and so she had to repeat it.

“I’m sorry,” she said and then I stopped looking her head as I was doing before.

“Why on earth will you be sorry? He was the one that ruined everything! And he’s the one that is going to feel sorry, I can assure you of that…”

I held her close, as if she was a fragile piece of glass that could break at any moment, I wished I had met her before she had ever met that fool.

I wanted to wipe away every tears she had shed before.

“Don’t worry I’ll make him pay…”
