Chapter 124

Koko’s POV

The night breeze slipped through the open window and came to embrace me on my bed.

I sluggishly took off the duvet before taking subconscious steps to the window, and by the time my fingers were holding the window frame, the rays of the moon poured on me.

This would be the last moon I would see before becoming the Luna Queen, and that thought alone made my heart race.

The preparation I had been seeing for the past few days had left my jaw on the floor, only yesterday I was looking for my mate when I saw two maids carrying golden plates and other golden cutleries and taking them to the kitchen.

When I asked them what such expensive cutleries were for, they said it was for my mating ceremony and I was totally speechless, those were only some of the few things and at some point, Niyol began to hide some so that I wouldn’t get anxious.

“My queen deserves nothing less than the world, I wish there was even more I could do for you…”

That was what he said to me and any form of resistance I had melted away like ice.

After closing the window, I turned to look at my empty bed and my heart ached, even though the Queen mother had explained to me that it was just for tonight.

I had to practice abstinence, as that was their norm for every Luna Queen that was to be coronated. The mating ceremony was also the same night of the Luna Queen’s coronation.

Even though I knew it was the norm it still wasn’t any easier for me. As I laid back on the bed, I wished he was here with me once again, that he would stretch out and wrap me in his warmth, but even under so many blankets it felt so cold without him.

Just for tonight, I told myself over and over again, just for tonight. As I was saying this I heard someone knocking on my door and my eyes went over to the clock on the wall. It told me that it was already 5 minutes past one. It was probably the Queen mother or Laci, but as I was about to open the door the person at the other said immediately.

“Koko don’t open the door,”

My ears immediately recognised that wonderful voice and I felt like I was going to jump over the moon as if I hadn’t heard it in years, when it had only been a couple of hours.

“Niyol!”

I called out.

“You sound like you have really been missing me, I’ve also been missing you as well…”

I was very elated, but then something came to my mind that made me worried at that moment as I was still holding the door knob.

“Wait, is it not against the norm of the royal palace? Why are you coming to see me now?” I asked, my voice clouded with worry and I needed him to be able to sense it.

“That is actually a technicality, there is nothing wrong with us being in the same room, the only issue is that we will have to abstain…” Then his voice got lower.

“But I wasn’t even able to lie to myself about it, I won’t be able to hold myself if you’re in bed with me…”

I felt a shiver instantly run through my entire body.

“So you just came to check up on me right?”

“Would you have preferred if I stayed away? I kind of feel like I’m being a tease right now…”

I laughed against the door frame, wishing I could just pull it away and embrace him, but I kept my trembling body in check, we only had a few hours left to go, so there was no need to be in a rush.

“I’ll see you in the morning Niyol, but for now I think you need to go to bed you seem to have slept even less than me all night.” He laughed and then he left.

The next time I saw him, the full moon was over our heads, once again and I was being escorted over to him by the Queen mother herself with my face covered with a veil, but even under the veil I could see the smile on his face when he saw me approaching him.

We were at the throne room surrounded by nobles. Alphas and betas had traveled hundreds of miles just to come to the palace and grace the location, the weight of their stares felt like bricks on my back. But then the Queen mother held my hand with assurance and I felt strength wash over me.

I thanked her in my heart and all those around me that were supporting me.

In a few moments I was next to my mate, and then he placed a crown studded with diamonds on my head, pulling me to his side as everyone around us bowed except the Queen mother of course who smiled warmly at both of us.

Everyone else in the throne room went down on their knees and I was utterly speechless.

I had gone from the girl who was practically a slave in her father’s house to a Queen that even alphas and betas would bow down to.

After that I told all of them to rise and then I gave a short but heartfelt speech which ended with a whirring sound of applause that shook the entire throne room.

Then, my mate took my hand as he led me towards the Royal mating ceremony chamber, my heart was pounding so much it was as if it was going to break right out of my rib cage, I could feel the tension between me and my mate building up with every step that we took until we shut out the entire world with the door.

“You look so beautiful in this dress it almost pains me to take it off…”Niyol said against my ear.

“… almost.”

The next time I saw him, the full moon was over our heads, once again and I was being escorted over to him by the Queen mother herself with my face covered with a veil, but even under the veil I could see the smile on his face when he saw me approaching him.
