Chapter 143

Koko’s POV

As the time came for my baby to arrive to the world, my heart was pounding more and more each and every day with excitement and anticipation, me and my mate had already picked out the cutest baby names and we had already prepared the room for the baby be it a boy or girl, it would not be wasted because we were planning to have more than one child anyways.

So many people had already started bringing gifts for the pup, things that could be used for either gender. I was so excited for the day that I would finally meet my pup.

It was obvious that my excitement was not mine alone, because the entire Kingdom shared it with me and I was being pampered so much that at one point, it seemed like the only thing that was left for my mate to do was to also chew my food and give it to me the way birds did for their young ones.

The gifts became so much that some point, we had to create a room for them, so that they would not be crowding up the place too much.

I noticed the contents in the room were getting fatter and fatter everyday, the Queen mother had mixed feelings about this when she saw the room full of gifts for the baby, she was over the moon with the thoughts that she was going to become a grandmother in a short while, but as we stood inside the room that was meant for the gifts, I could see that her face looked a little troubled.

“Mother is something wrong?” I asked her, when her staring had become too intense and she turned over to me.

It was as if she had not seen me walking in, then like a child that had been trying to steal cookies from a jar, her expression changed.

“Oh my dear, I didn’t even see you coming, how are you? you shouldn’t be walking around like this without anyone supporting you.”

I placed my fingers on my huge belly with a sigh.

“Mother, you all need to stop treating me like I am disabled. I’m not disabled, I’m only pregnant. There is a big difference. I can still walk around by myself without support…”

She just nodded, obviously not wanting to argue with me as she called a maid that was passing by. Then I asked her what she had been looking at before and she admitted that it was the gifts they sent to my pup.

“I remembered when I was getting such gifts, then I was carrying Niyol, but I didn’t get half as many gifts for Laci…”

I was intrigued by that as I also stared into the room.

“But why, was that was there some kind of economic crisis when Laci was born?”

She shook her head.

“Actually no, my dear. Infact the kingdom was even doing better than normal during that period of Laci’s birth, but you see, the issue was that they had already given gifts to the person they wanted; the heir to the throne- that is my son. This is something I wish to talk to you about and I know that you have probably experienced it. A lot of people will want to get on your good side, they will want to seek your favour in So many ways, I mean look at your pup…” She said it said with a sad expression.

“… the poor thing has not even been born, yet people are still battling to get connections with him or her.”

Well, that was definitely something I met when I came to the palace. A lot of people were two-faced and they were actually snakes that were covering up their scales and trying to act like everyone else, only?recently we found out that some of the servants were working with that woman they called my mother and my former mate.

These were probably people that served my food and would have put in a little poison if someone had directed them to do so, it was actually bone-chilling how people who didn’t care about you found their way into your life.. somehow..

“Anyways, my dear.. I don’t want you to think about those kind of things. Where my son? He’s supposed to be taking care of you…”

I laughed a little bit, with a crooked smile.

“Mother he’s also supposed to be taking care of the pack too, and it’s not like I can give much help the way I am now, so it’s better not to be there to distract him an-“

As I was speaking, I suddenly felt a huge pang in my stomach, and I found myself backing against the wall that was next to me, and without being told I knew, I knew from every fibre and inch of my body what was going on, even though it was something that I had never experienced in my entire life. I turned to my mother-in-law.

“The baby is coming,” I said breathlessly, trying to keep myself together, even though I was already experiencing serious pains.

“.. the baby is coming…”

My mother-in-law told the maid that had been waiting all that time and quickly instructed her to get my mate, the Alpha King, but as soon as she left, I saw that my mother-in-law was trying to mind link someone and I was wondering what she was doing as she was helping me towards the direction of the royal clinic.

“I can’t reach him and I can’t reach my daughter too…”

I knew she was talking about my mate, but that fear was immediately crushed when she saw him rushing towards us down the hallway, thank goodness for our heightened bond!

I didn’t even need to mind link him, he could already feel that I was in pain and was rushing over. Also I told him I was going to check ‘our pup’s gift room’, as we called it.

The moment he got to me, he swept my feet off the floor and carried me as if I was nothing more than a feather and in a few moments, I found myself pushing for my life and my pup’s as the midwife screamed and my mate held my hand.

It was like the whole world was spinning around me and it would not stop, but the only thing that remained the same was the feeling of my mate’s hand and the thought of seeing my pup that kept me sane and pushing through all the pain.. and finally it was over.

I was drenched in sweat and when I had enough strength to open my eyelids, I could see that my pup had already been washed and wrapped up in my mate’s hand.

When he saw that my eyes were open, he came over to me and said in the softest voice.

“It’s a girl…”

As he turned her over to me, I could feel the tears rolling down my cheek and I was unable to hold myself back.

“What’s our little princess’s name going to be?” The Queen mother asked me and my mate and I smiled looking at our pup.

“Aurora, princess Aurora.”
