Chapter 145

Koko’s POV

“And they all lived happily ever after..” I k!ssed my little baby to sleep after telling her a wonderful bedtime story, her eyes were closed with a smile.

I walked over to her father who was standing at the door.

“Isn’t it crazy to imagine that one day she will be too big for bedtime stories?”

He was always worried for Aurora’s future, and so was I. On the day Aurora was born, there was this pit in my stomach, and I was overjoyed that I had finally seen my beautiful baby.

But there was still something that trouble me and pulled at my heart, making me unable to be truly happy.

Initially I thought it was because I was worried about the gender preference that existed in the Palace.

But even after the heart warming conversation between my mate and I at the hospital, I was still very troubled, even though the weight had been lightened on my neck.

The day my fear was confirmed was the day the party was held for Aurora to present her to the world as the princess and next alpha queen after her father.

Her father had left no stone unturned to show that he was proud of both me and the pup and was not afraid to show it.

Aurora who was cradled in my arms, sleeping, suddenly opened her eyes and almost started crying when she heard the loud music.

Then I asked them to reduce the sound of the music just a little bit so that she would not be too disturbed, but later it seemed like she was enjoying her party and she kept smiling and many people were presenting so many different gifts for her.

Some of them were still laying there in her gift room, while some were still not unpacked till today.

Now as I stood in my daughter’s bedroom, looking back at her, I was happy about the way that day ended, though at first, I was scared to death, but the goddess had better plans.

When it was time for presentation of gifts, different types of gifts were being presented to her till there wasn’t enough space for the gifts to be kept and the time was far spent.

Finally, when we felt like it was enough, my mate and I decided to put a stop to it, saying all other gifts would be presented at a later time so that the party could continue.

An old woman in ragged clothes started walking towards us. Unlike the other expensive gifts that were all beautifully wrapped, this gift that the woman who was wrapped up in rags was holding were even filthier than the one she was wearing.

“I have a gift for the little princess…” She said with a crooked voice. I was still unable to remove that voice in my head.

I could see in my mate’s eyes that he was upset that this woman had come to such an important event so shabbily dressed and even the gift did not look presentable as well.

We did not want to be cruel and simply chase her off, because that would not be kind of us, but the woman eventually stepped into the Royal Hall without even bothering to clean her feet and she dragged in an entire beach of sand.

“Thank you for your kind gift but we have already stopped presentation of gifts, I’m sure that you can present this as a later time…”

“But I want to present it now,” she insisted, her crooked voice became very deep and commanding.

“I’m sorry but I’m sure you heard my queen, the gift can be presented at another tim-“

“And if you heard me right as well…” she said, interrupting my mate as well.

“I said that I wanted to present the gifts right now, so maybe you can make an exception for me…”

At that point, I could not even reject the old woman’s gift anymore, I could understand if that was all she could afford, but there was no necessity for her to present a gift to the princess.

If she was going to do it that badly, she should have gotten to the event earlier and even though we were being kind and respectful to her, she was being so rude and insensitive to the both of us, as if we had to bend to her own will.

The last thing that I wanted that day was a scene, but at the point where I stood I knew that there was no way to avoid it, so I called on the guards to escort the old woman outside.

When she saw that the guards were approaching her, she immediately started?unwrapping her gift, and as they got even closer, she became more frantic, but then they grabbed her before she could open the box and then they began to drag her out of the royal hall while she was yelling.

“Let go of me! let go of me this very minute!… If you don’t want to let go of me this child is going to die!”

I immediately commanded the guards to stop and I could feel my mate tensing up as well when she said that.

“What on earth are you talking about?” I asked her, making sure I kept a safe distance from her.

“Your wretched child is going to die…”

My mate wanted to snap that woman’s neck at that moment, but I told him to calm down, even though my b***d was boiling as well.

“And what makes you say this? Have you gone mad or do you have a death wish?”

She began to laugh like someone that had really lost her mind.

“She will never be the Queen alpha never!”

“That is a big fat lie!” I heard from behind the old woman.

I looked ahead and saw another old woman.. not just anybody, it was her, she was with her grandson. It was the old woman that saved me from the hands of Gad and his sentinels that almost sent me to an early grave.

“M..mother.” I heard myself say and a tiny smile spread across the boy’s face.

“Who and what gave you the effrontery to come near my child. Koko is mine to protect and you have overstepped your boundaries, therefore you shall be banished to land where you will not see the day, night or anything.”

My saviour said, and I saw b***d draining out of the evil woman’s face as the guards dragged her out.

“Thank you..” my mate and I chorused.

“I should be thanking you Koko. You gave me a coin after begging for money that will take you back to your pack, the day you survived a life threatening accident, because you wanted to save your sister.

So she was the same person I saw that day?

I felt a tear stray down my cheek as I remembered the event that led to my first and second encounter with her.
