Chapter 66

Scarlett’s POV

After our hot make out session, all I wanted to do was rest in Henry’s arms. I told him about how I acted like Niyol’s maid today and how Chester brought in a new girl.

That piqued Henry’s interest as we talked about that lady called Julianna who doesn’t look like she was going to mind her business.

She came acting all high and mighty and tried to her poke nose into my affairs. Hmph! I would think of what to do with her later. Let me keep watching her.

Just as we were discussing, there was a knock on the door and Henry’s gamma told him he was needed by Niyol and that he also collected some of his handwritten documents.

I realized immediately that something had gone wrong.. and that something had to do with the letter that Henry sent to that cursed girl.

After assuring me that everything was going to be fine, Henry left, leaving me in fear and uncertainty.

I couldn’t fathom why I panicked immediately I heard the message. I just hoped that everything was fine over there. I couldn’t risk our plans failing this time.

I stood up from the bed and wore my clothes. I arranged my hair and checked if anything was out of place before leaving.

I snuck out of the Pub and headed home with a lot of things going on in my head. Different questions kept hitting me like a thunderstorm. It was unlike Niyol to summon Henry out of the blue.

What if that bloody Julianna girl had done something and they had caught him? What if he was asked to defend something and he failed? What if he exposed us all due to fear? What if he gets caught and leads them to where I am?

When I got home, I laid on my bed as my heart beat rapidly against my ribcage. I was terrified of the aftermath. I was more terrified of Niyol’s rage if he found out.

That would be the end of us if Niyole found out that we were responsible for Koko’s kidnap and framing his mother.

I ruffled my hair aggressively as I thought about this. I picked up my phone and tried Henry’s number, but it wasn’t going through. Had he been locked up or what? He should be done by now. I tried again, but it was unreachable.

I laid on my bed and waited for what seemed like forever before trying his number again. This time, it went through and I sighed in relief when he answered after the second ring.

“Henry, where are you? I want to see you,” I said.

There was silence for a while which also got me scared. What if they were the one who asked him to pick me call, so they could track me down?

“Sure, where can we meet?” He asked, his voice sounding moody.

What could have happened to him?

“Our normal spot. Please, hurry.” I said and he hung up the call. I stood up and headed out.

He was already there when I got there. I looked around to see if anyone was eavesdropping or spying.

“Are you sure no one saw you coming here?” I asked.

He shook his head. “No.” He answered.

“Why are you suddenly moody? What is wrong? Did they find out by any chance? Did_”

“If you keep on asking like this, how do you expect me to answer you?” He cut me off and I pouted.

“I’m sorry. I’m just in a panic right now. I almost had a heart attack thinking about what had happened.” I said.

“I met the Julianna Roberts you were talking about in the throne room. The Alpha had asked for samples of my handwriting.” Henry answered and I gasped.

“Could it be because of the letter? But they couldn’t find the letter. It was supposed to be disposed,” I said.

“Yes, but that bastard cursed girl refused to throw it out. She left the damn letter in her room and they found it!” Henry snapped and I could tell how angry he was already.

“So, what did they say about the writings?” I asked.

“Oh, I’ll make sure I deal with Julianna Roberts. Do you know that she hurled so many heart wrecking questions on me and insisted that I was involved in the kidnap?” Henry said.

“She did what?!” I exclaimed.

I had always known that girl was bad news right from the very day I set my eyes on her as she walked in with Chester. Did she take up the case so as to start pointing accusing fingers at people? Who gave her that right?!

“Lucky enough, I was already prepared for anything before stepping into the throne room. I had it with her and thanks to the trust Niyol had in me, he was convinced that I wasn’t the one and dismissed me.” Henry said and I released the breath I didn’t know I was holding.

It was a relief to know that Henry was able to scale through unscathed, but it was another cause for concern, considering that this Julianna of a girl was stepping on our toes.

“You’re very smart for escaping her clutches. I have always known that the girl is bad news.” I said.

“Not that alone, I think she has eyes on us, so we have to be extra careful and mindful of our activities from now on.” Henry suggested.

“Urgh! I have never been this frustrated in my life! Why must Koko become a thorn in my flesh? Why is it difficult to deal with her? I hate her so much! So damn much!” I yelled.

“I agree with you. I have never been this stressed out because of only one person and here comes another one claiming to be an investigator,” Henry said, referring to the good for nothing Julianna Roberts.

“That girl needs to be taken care of,” I said, my eyes turning cold and dark.

“Why do you say that?” Henry asked me.

“Because she has become an obstacle to us. Look at it this way, with her around, Niyol and Laci might start having a double mindset towards us and trust me when I say, that won’t be good,” I said.

“You are right. She would confuse them and try to convince them into believing her own point of view. We can’t let that happen!” Henry snapped.

“That’s why she has to be taken away from the picture before she does that,” I said. “We need to sit down and study her movements before waiting for the right time to strike. She must not go unpunished for trying to foil our plans.”

“Yes, but we have to be careful while doing that so that there won’t be any suspicion.” Henry suggested and I nodded.

“Also, Koko has known too much. We need to take her out of the picture as well,” I said and Henry gasped.
