Twice Rejected -
Chapter 94
Alpha Niyol’s POV
The sedative quickly wore off on my body, but I didn’t know if I was feeling much better and was not weak like before. But I felt relieved greatly because the way I was feeling meant that my mate was also feeling much better.
The only disappointment that I had was that it was already late at night and if she was fine, that probably meant she was already fast asleep, and finding her was not going to be easy and feasible in the dark; the moon was barely even out at all.
It felt like a million years since I last saw my mate, and I was so eager to see her again, the excitement that coursed through my body did not allow me sleep as I just turned on the hospital bed every now and then.
Finally I gave up and just sat down, a note was left for me alongside a basket full of fruits in my ward, it was from my beta. He said he had not yet found Koko, but the trail was definitely getting hotter and sure I should rest easy.
But then suddenly I was struck with such anxiety that it was hard to keep my feet on the ground and they started wobbling again as my heart began a race. Was I actually falling sick?
“You are not sick Niyol… Koko needs us.”
My wolf told me what I had already suspected, but I was deeply hoping that it wasn’t true. She had been fine a while ago. Why was she suddenly gripped with such anxiety all of a sudden?
But there was no time to think about that right now I had to go look for her. With that in mind, I began to take a long strides heading towards the exit of the hospital, but then I was suddenly stopped on the way by Dr Brian.
“Your majesty, where are you rushing off to? You have not been discharged yet!”
He said in a panicky turn, but I had no other choice than to brush past him, because I had to get to Koko as soon as possible. I would have even begun to run, but this was a hospital and I could easily crash into somebody that was being brought in with a stretcher.
”Your majesty!”
He called again, but I did not look back or even flinch. There was no time for that, instead I increased my pace until I found myself at the door of the hospital and I threw it open immediately, shifting into my wolf and in moments my skin was shredded for fur and as I howled at the dim moon.
With each moment that passed Koko was becoming more and more troubled. At one point, it felt like her heart was going to jump right out of her mouth.
What could be putting her in that kind of condition? I didn’t know, all I knew as my claws scraped on the ground and as I hastened up to see her was that it was going to sink into whoever’s throat was torturing her like this.
I followed the pull of the mate bond until it led me to a house that seemed to be going towards the boundary of the pack, and I could clearly perceive her scent.
.. It had been far too long.
Even though her scent was strong in the place, as my eyes darted around, she was nowhere to be found and everything in the house was in disarray with the furniture thrown over and broken frames on the floor, I didn’t need anybody to tell me that this place was probably one that had just gone through a struggle. She obviously tried to resist whoever had been tormenting her.
And there was something that I smelt in the kitchen that definitely confirmed it; there was b***d and a lot of it, the ground beneath my feet began to spin. Did Henry and Scarlett have some minions still left over that I had not taken care of?
There was no time to think it over as I quickly burst out of the house and then followed her scent till it came all the way towards the boundary of the pack, my heart racing even faster and faster with each passing moment I didn’t want to be late not again not ever again…
”Your majesty!”
He called again, but I did not look back or even flinch. There was no time for that, instead I increased my pace until I found myself at the door of the hospital and I threw it open immediately, shifting into my wolf and in moments my skin was shredded for fur and as I howled at the dim moon.
The image of a pale lifeless body hanging from the roof filled my mind with absolute horror, and I felt adrenaline rushing through my veins as I ran like there’s was never a day after. Once again, I could still smell b***d, I was not seeing traces of it anyway, but then I began to run faster and faster until the environment around me seemed to phase pass.
Then I finally stood at the border and I saw her.
She was totally drenched in b***d.
I had almost collapsed at the sight, but I quickly rushed over and saw the corpse that was there, then I looked over to my mate.
There was an old woman next to her and she was unconscious.
“Niyol, we have to help her because she is bleeding…” She mind linked me.
I shifted back to my human form and then looked at her, it was not all the time I got to see her wolf from and I was surprised that she had managed to shift though, very glad that she had.
“But what about you, aren’t you injured anywhere?” I said to her in mind link and she quickly shook her head.
“I’m fine we have to go back to her house, there’s a neighbor she has who’s a good herbalist…”
As she was speaking I could smell the filthy scent of rogues approaching us. We had passed the border and these leeches did not hesitate to approach us.
“Koko is the woman’s injury very serious. How many minutes do you think she has left?”
I asked her once again in mind link as the rogue wolves got closer.
“If she doesn’t get help in the next three minutes I think she’s going to…”
“Okay…” I growled. “Then I’ll take care of these roaches in a minute..”
