Chapter 95

Niyol’s POV

When I imagined reuniting with my mate, I had pictured a passionate and wonderful scenerio, as I would finally be able to inhale her scent and feel her soft body against mine again, instead we were rushing into a hospital evoking panic wherever we turned, because we were soaked in b***d.

We had earlier asked the people in the neighborhood to give us some clothes, but there was no time to wash off the b***d, so we wrapped the old woman in a big blanket, as getting her fully dressed with all her injuries was risky.

After battling through all that, we finally got her friend admitted; and she was rushed over to the intensive care unit. Then I looked over to my mate without saying a single word. I pulled her to my chest and hugged her tightly, but she winced and pulled away from my grip immediately.

My racing heart that had been calming down, began to race so much again that I thought I was skipping some heart beats.

“Are you injured on your back?”

I asked her, and she slowly nodded.

“I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you that I was injured earlier, but I didn’t want you to worr-“

I didn’t allow her to finish speaking before I pulled her to a doctor, and told them to commence treatment on her at once.

“Well, if I’m getting treated, then you have to get looked at too…”

She said,

I really can’t believe this woman at all.

“So you’re telling me right now that you think you have the right to be worried about me when you are the one that is badly hurt?“

I caressed her cheek.

“I’m the Alpha King, those rats couldn’t even get a scratch on me, so just worry about yourself right now…”

I got washed up and had a change of clothes, went to the waiting room while my mate was getting patched up. Soon my Beta, sister and the investigator arrived with worry written all over their faces.

“Your majesty, why did you suddenly disappear in the middle of the night? We have been looking all over for you.” Julianna said.

“I guess I owe all of you an explanation for running out like that…”

I rubbed my fingers together and began to explain all that had happened that early morning, and as I was speaking, I could see that the sun was coming up, slowly putting away the blanket of night.

“Oh poor Koko…!” Laci gasped, placing her palms on her mouth; looking like she was about to burst into tears.

”It seems like our Luna can’t even get a break to catch her breath anymore…”

Chester said, crossing his hands and looking over to me, then coming over, he gave me a reassuring look. Julianna didn’t say anything, but she looked really deep in thought.

Soon the doctor who had been taking care of Koko, Doctor Brian came out of her ward with a poker face, I knew she had only been scratched on her back, but for some reason I was panicking as if she had been rushed into the ICU like the woman that helped her.

“How is she doing, Doc?”

I asked, getting up.

“It was only a light graze on her back, so it did not require any stitching and she did not lose much b***d either…”

I let out the heavy sigh that I didn’t even realize that I was holding back all these time.

“Thank the moon goddess…” My sister, Luci said, also sighing with relief.

“So can we go and see her now?”

I asked the doctor.

“It would honestly be kind of suffocating if all of you rushed into her ward right now…”

I could not help but agree with the doctor, even though she had not been seriously injured, her body had been running on nothing but adrenaline for so long, and what she really needed was rest.

“Your majesty, you should go in there, then we will all get to see her later, but I’m sure she will not be resting easy if she doesn’t see you either.”

“I guess I owe all of you an explanation for running out like that…”

Chester said as he squeezed my shoulder in assurance, I looked at my sister, then to Juliana and they both nodded in agreement, then finally my eyes came to the doctor and he also nodded though I could see a bit of reluctance.

So with that I walked into her ward, and the moment I walked in even though I did not make any sound, her eyes quickly came to me and they called to me even when she did not say a word. I walked over to her, even though I wanted to run. I embraced her lightly, when I wanted to pull her so close that our bodies would mold together.

And when I heard her sobbing my heart broke even more. She had gone through so much in the short time that we had been separated and I could not help but blame myself.

”Koko I’m so sorry, this is all my fault…”

She suddenly pulled away from my embrace to give me a quizzical look.

“Your Fault? What makes you think you are at fault? People responsible for these are Scarlett an…”

“And Henry… Yes we found out, but we took far too long to uncover their schemes and you were already gone by the time I had come to rescue you…”

I cupped her cheek.

“If I only had never left your side then none of this would have happened…”

Her fingers came to wrap around the ones that were caressing her cheek.

“Please don’t say that my love, you came right in time. If you did not come in that second then both me and the kind woman that helped me would have both been dead…”

She pulled me into another embrace.

“I can’t tell you to stop attending to your duties and sit by my side 24/7, because that would just be silly. The important thing is that you are there when I really need you…”

I could feel the tears bubbling up in my eyes, as I restrained myself from holding her even closer.

“Koko what did I ever do to deserve you?”
