After a short while, the group arrived at Ariana’s ward.

The door was ajar, and a child’s piercing cry echoed from inside.

“That’s Melon’s cry Sonia exclaimed, and then, her face paled with realization.

“Aria, is she…”

Panic set in as they rushed into the ward.

They found Ariana lifeless in Holden’s arms, a flat line on the electrocardiograph monitor.

Sonia, in disbelief, rose from her wheelchair and ran to Ariana, tears streaming down her face.

Tyler, equally devastated, let the fruit basket fall and choked out Ariana’s name, his eyes reddening with grief.

“Holden.

” Adrian asked in shock, “What happened? Didn’t Sonia say that Ariana was fine? How could it be…”

Ignoring Adrian’s questions, Holden kept silent, his face expressionless.

Clinging to Ariana as if she might disappear at any moment, he appeared terrified of losing her.

Adrian, witnessing this heart-wrenching scene, felt a deep sorrow wash over him.

He lowered his head and dabbed at his tears, unable to witness Holden’s profound sadness.

He turned to look at Devin, who still maintained some composure, for any insight into the situation.

Devin, however, merely shook his head, his sobs audible in the quiet room.

“I don’t know what happened…”

At that moment, a physician walked into the room, a distinguished expert at Mercy Hospital.

This physician, along with other staff, had been driven out earlier by Holden’s fierce outburst.

Despite this, his concern for Holden’s well-being had brought him back.

Knowing how fragile Holden’s mental state was, he was cautious, fearing that any added stress could worsen Holden’s emotional turmoil.

As he entered, he heard Adrian asking about the situation.

“Mr.

Perkins,” the physician began, positioning himself in front of Adrian, his voice steady despite the tension.

“Approximately thirty minutes ago, during a routine examination, we discovered that Miss Edwards’ condition had deteriorated rapidly.

She began to experience severe breathing difficulties, prompting an urgent response from our team.

Unfortunately, despite all our efforts, Miss Edwards passed away after the emergency procedures.

“How is that possible?” Adrian exclaimed, his face a mask of shock.

Simultaneously, Tyler grasped the physician’s arm, his eyebrows knitted together in worry.

“Where is Mitchel?”

Chadwick,” the physician confessed, his shoulders sagging under the weight of his admission.

His eyes avoided theirs as he continued, “Mitchel has secluded himself for the past two days, focusing entirely on developing the special medication.

He left strict instructions not to be disturbed.

A collective sense of disbelief filled the room as everyone shook their heads, unable to accept the reality.

Holden was the same, in denial about all of this.

As the physician continued his discussion with Adrian, Holden suddenly released Ariana and stood up.

He stormed over to the physician and seized him by the collar.

“You have ten minutes to get ready,” Holden commanded, his previously unreadable eyes now burning with an intense resolve.

“Gather a team of experts.

I will give them one hour to attempt to save Ariana.

If she survives, all will be well for everyone at Mercy Hospital.

However, if she dies, the consequences will be dire for you all!”

After saying that, Holden let go of the physician, who stumbled back, crashing against the door.

His glasses flew off his face.

“Mr.

Fredrick…” the physician said, crouching to find his glasses, his voice shaking.

“Please believe in our efforts.

We have truly done everything possible! Miss Edwards’ heart monitor showed no activity.

We can’t revive her.

”

When Holden heard this, his hands balled into fists so tight that his knuckles turned white.

He looked down at the physician on the floor and said with a chilling tone, “It seems you’re hastening your end.
