“Bennett sent this?” Ariana exclaimed, stepping closer to Holden.

Her voice was laced with confusion.

“What’s he up to? Why did he send the dog over?”

Holden’s brow furrowed.

As a man, he understood Bennett’s intention immediately.

He snorted coldly, realizing that Bennett still had feelings for Ariana.

Yet, he believed it was unnecessary to tell Ariana this.

Feigning ignorance, he said, “Perhaps Bennett’s feeling guilty.

Maybe he’s trying to make amends in his own way.

“I don’t want anything from Bennett.

” Ariana’s lips tightened as she declared resolutely, “I’d rather cut ties with him completely in the future.

Upon hearing this, Holden couldn’t help but feel a surge of satisfaction.

However, he maintained a serious demeanor and nodded in agreement.

“You’re right.

Bennett’s nothing but trouble.

We can’t afford to be linked with him.

He has made too many enemies.

It could be dangerous for us if they decide to take their anger out on us one day.

“Exactly!” Ariana nodded, her agreement firm.

But then, her expression softened as she turned back to Holden.

“But, you know, the dog isn’t aware of our feud.

It’s innocent.

And since you were the one who chose it for me… Can we keep it?”

Her eyes were pleading for his consent.

It seemed she was really worried that Holden would refuse her.

“Of course, you can keep it if you’d like,” Holden replied with a gentle smile.

After all, he couldn’t afford to be too jealous in front of Ariana, not when it might give his rival an edge, even though the dog had something to do with his rival.

Ariana’s face lit up with joy at his words.

In a spontaneous gesture, she rose on her tiptoes and planted a kiss on Holden’s lips.

Caught off guard by her affection, Holden called someone to make sure the puppy had everything it needed.

He wanted it to have the finest accommodations, the best food, and the most stylish attire essentially, everything the best for it.

Soon, the puppy woke up.

It seemed to recognize Ariana and barked excitedly from inside its cage.

“Good boy.

” Seeing this, Ariana quickly opened the cage, scooped Nut into her arms, and caressed its head gently, whispering, “Do you remember me?”

Nut barked again, as if answering her question.

Ariana chuckled, lowered her head, and nuzzled the puppy with her cheek.

Nut closed its eyes in contentment, enjoying Ariana’s affectionate touches.

“Mommy.

Melon peered over curiously.

“Can I have a closer look at the puppy?”

“Of course,” Ariana replied as she crouched down.

The puppy was endearing and didn’t growl at the unfamiliar Melon.

Instead, it gazed up at him with its big, dewy eyes, instantly winning Melon’s heart.

Feeling encouraged, Melon carefully took Nut into his arms.

“Mommy, what’s the puppy’s name?” Melon inquired.

“Nut,” Ariana replied, gently patting Melon on the head.

“Nut…” Melon repeated the name, gazing down at the puppy cradled in his arms with shining eyes.

“Nut, your name is as cute as mine.

Though the puppy didn’t grasp the conversation, it sensed Melon’s joyous tone.

It wagged its tail as it nestled contentedly in Melon’s embrace.

The puppy then barked, showing its delight.
