After observing for a while and realizing that Moss had no intention of returning, Melon gingerly climbed out of the child’s chair.

He tiptoed to the window, intending to pull the curtains, his heart racing with the fear of alerting Moss, who claimed to be his grandfather.

To his dismay, the curtains required a remote control to be opened.

Melon scoured the room but came up empty-handed.

During his exploration, however, he stumbled upon an unexpected treasure—a phone, discarded by Moss in the trash can after his call.

Melon’s eyes lit up.

Undeterred by the dirt, he scooped up the device from the trash can, carefully wiping its screen.

Hope surged through him as he imagined contacting the outside world.

He gripped the phone, a smile playing on his lips.

But his joy was short-lived.

The absence of a SIM card rendered the phone useless for calls.

Disappointment washed over him, and he tossed the device back into the trash can with a heavy sigh.

Sitting on the floor, Melon was upset.

His thoughts drifted to his parents, undoubtedly frantic with worry since his abduction from the snow-covered playground.

Regret gnawed at him for not heeding their warnings earlier.

He vowed to listen to his parents more in the future.

His mind then drifted to Adele, who had desperately tried to hold onto him, even attempting to follow when she couldn’t stop Moss.

But Moss had shoved her away, sending her sprawling.

Melon wondered if she had been hurt.

These memories and worries spun like a whirlwind in Melon’s young mind.

Shaking his head to clear the troubling thoughts, Melon steeled himself.

He knew he needed to focus on escaping now.

Determined to outsmart his captor, he retrieved the phone once more, trying to contact someone he knew.

Unfortunately, after a long while, the result remained the same.

Melon sighed, his shoulders sagging.

Yet, he refused to surrender to despair.

He reminded himself that his current situation, while dire, wasn’t dangerous.

He had devoured countless comic books where heroes outwitted villains.

Surely, he could do the same.

Emboldened by this thought, Melon resumed his exploration of the room.

Suddenly, a loud sound echoed through the space.

Melon jumped, his heart pounding as he watched the wall split in two.

He hadn’t expected to trigger a hidden mechanism by simply touching the wall.

Behind the wall lay another laboratory.

There stood Moss at a workbench, engrossed in his task.

The noise drew his attention, and he turned to find Melon staring back at him, wide-eyed and frozen in place.

He didn’t say anything.

Melon’s curiosity overcame his fear, and his gaze was drawn to the array of colorful flasks and bottles on the workbench.

He approached Moss and asked, “What are you doing?”

At that moment, Moss had just finished mixing a green potion with an unknown powder, forming it into a small pill.

He looked at Melon, who stood before him with curious eyes.

Without warning, he lowered his hand, bringing the pill to Melon’s mouth.

“Open your mouth,” Moss ordered abruptly.
