Wedding Day Vampire -
Chapter 18
Dana and Joana had decided on the next step they would take. They would fly to London tomorrow night with Derick to meet with the wingless pixie in the enchanted forest. Joana had learnt quite a lot over the past weeks and was now ready to go on her first adventure. She hoped that they would be able to find the pixie, as Dana hadn’t visited the forest ever since she went there with Marylin.
As soon as the sun set, they began their journey. They flew throughout the night, and when the sun began to rise again, they landed on the ground so they could drink some vamscren to help them continue the journey near the sun, as they did not want to stop until they got there. They flew for about two hours after taking some vamscren before they reached London.
“We have arrived,” Dana said to her. “We will soon get to the forest.”
They kept on flying for sometime until Dana landed in front of a large river. The other two did the same.
“Why are we stopping here?” Joana asked.
“We have reached the forest.”
“But this is just a river, and there’s no forest here, just buildings and bridges surrounding it.”
“That’s why it’s called an enchanted forest silly, it’s on top of the river, invisible to the human eyes. Look closely and you will see it.”
Joana began to look at the river like Dana had said. It felt invisible to her at first but then she began to see the large trees appear in the middle and on top of the river one by one. A small road appeared between edge of the river and the beginning of the forest, making way for them to pass.
“Can you see it now?” Dana asked her.
“Yes, I can, it’s beautiful.”
“I know. You should have seen it when Marilyn and I came here first. All these buildings were not here then and that time it was still surrounded by nature. It looked like heaven.”
“Let’s go in now.”
“The three of them walked on the road and began their journey into the forest. It felt as if everything was alive and the trees were welcoming them in. The birds sang beautiful songs and there were fairies and pixies flying all around.”
“There are so many pixies,” Joana said. “How do we find the right one?”
“We’ll go to the Pixieland and ask of her.”
“Do you know her name?” Joana asked Dana.
“No. Did Marylin write about it in her book?”
“No.”
“Don’t worry. When we get there, we’ll decide what to do. The only thing I can remember about her is that she didn’t have wings, so she couldn’t fly over the tree that Marylin helped her with. She should be around the Pixieland as that’s her home and without her wings, she doesn’t go too far from it.”
“Ok.”
They walked deeper into the forest for sometime until they reached the Pixieland. It was a beautiful array of tiny buildings arranged on the forest ground and on the trees, and the tiny pixies were in their numbers flying around their homes.
Dana tried to stop a pixie who was flying past them.
“Hello, I am looking for…”
“Sorry, can’t talk,” the pixie said. “The queen has called for an emergency meeting.”
They turned and noticed that more were pixies flying towards the meeting point. None of the pixies were stopping to give them an answer.
The three of them decided to walk towards the direction the pixies were flying. They reached there and saw thousands of pixies gathered at the meeting point in the middle of the forest. The queen of the pixies stood from her throne at the front, flew to the stage, stood on it, and began to address the crowd in her British accent.
“Let’s go in now.”
“We are gathered here today because we have a matter at hand that threatens the very existence of Pixieland. The largest tree in the forest, Odinbre, has reached its peak. Its roots are getting weaker day by day and we fear it might soon fall. Our home, Pixieland sits next to Odinbre, as we built our lands right beside it. For many years, the tree has been our shelter and our protection from the storms, but now that it can no longer stand, it might be our destruction because if it falls on our lands, many of our people will die and we will no longer have a place to call our home, as all parts of the enchanted forest have been inhabited by other mystical creatures.
“I am calling this meeting today to ask if anyone can proffer a solution to the problem, we have asked our neighbors, but none of the other creatures have the strength nor the power to lift the Odinbre from its roots. We have exhausted all our options, that is why we called you all here today. Anyone who can provide a working solution to the problem will be rewarded greatly. I will see to it as the queen of Pixieland that you are well compensated for saving us. So, if you have something to say that will help us, please say it now.”
The queen waited for anyone to speak, there was a long moment of silence, as none of the pixies could provide a working solution to the problem.
The queen was about to give up until she heard a loud voice speak from behind.
“We will help you unroot the tree.”
