What Separates Me and You -
Chapter 473 Do You Have a Death Wish?
Lewis hugged Josephine tightly, caressing her hair. He said lowly, "It's just some thunder, don't be afraid."
Jopsehine's cheek was tightly pressed against his chest. Though the rain was too loud for her to hear his breathing, she could smell his familiar scent.
Another strike of lightning flashed outside. It was so bright that it overpowered the nightlight at the head of the bed and illuminated the whole room. Right after, thunder followed. Because the window wasn't closed, it sounded like it had struck right by Josephine's ear.
Josephine closed her eyes tightly, waiting for the rest of the noise to dissipate.
After a moment, the rain got even heavier. They were both under the open window, so rain spattered on Josephine's neck from the outside, chilling her.
The rain persisted for another half an hour before becoming lighter. There was more rumbling of thunder but no actual boom.
Josephine pushed Lewis away and got out of his embrace. She put some distance between them. "I'm fine. Thank you."
Lewis' gaze was pinned on her. Josephine's face was still pale, and her short hair was stuck wetly on the sides of her face. It was almost like she'd gone back to the way she was before.
After some time, Lewis got up and helped her close the window.
He then bent down and helped pull her up from the floor. "There shouldn't be any more thunder. Go to sleep."
Josephine looked at him with a complicated gaze before quietly looking down again.
Lewis didn't stay any longer. After looking at her for another second, he turned to leave.
Josephine turned just in time to watch him close the door.
She walked to her bed and sat down. Her gaze fell on the window. It was pitch black outside, and she could see her reflection in the glass.
Josephine didn't feel like sleeping anymore. She sat on the bed in a daze for the rest of the night, listening to the sound of the rain until the sky lightened.
She let out a long breath and got up to leave the bedroom.
The villa was quiet. Mrs. Larson was the only one up, bustling about in the kitchen.
"You're up early, Madam." Mrs. Larson looked at her with some joy. Josephine had been getting up earlier than Lewis these days. From the looks of it, she seemed to have recovered.
Things were getting better. Thus, Mrs. Larson would have a better time of it too.
Josephine forced a smile.
"Hurry and have some breakfast." Mrs. Larson set the table for her.
Josephine took a seat and picked up her cutlery. Instinctively, she looked over at Lewis' seat.
Lewis was getting up later and later now. It didn't seem like the Lewis she knew.
Josephine didn't think more about it. She ducked her head to have her breakfast. Then, she left for the company.
Surprisingly, Yona was there today. She had even arrived earlier than Josephine.
Everyone else on the team was surprised by this too, not just Josephine. It was as if pigs had learned to fly. After Yona got five million fans, she never showed up at the company before ten.
She was sitting on the couch reading a script. No one dared to disturb her.
Noticing that Josephine had arrived, Wendy approached with small steps. She tugged Josephine aside and said, "What's up with you two? It's strange to see her at the company so early. It's completely out of character."
Josephine looked over at Yona. She was clueless too.
Was Yona here because she had found a new way to make life difficult for her? Or was it because of something else, like Lewis?
Josephine thought about it and quickly strode over to Yona. She greeted her, "Yona."
Yona raised her head and gave Josephine a look. She suddenly smiled. "You're finally here. You're quite the haughty assistant for making me wait so long."
Yona stood up, dumping the script on the couch. She folded her arms and looked at Josephine condescendingly.
"From the looks of it, you might as well be the vlogger, and I'll be the assistant."
Josephine looked at her straight on. After a second, she said, "Is there something you need me to do?"
"Of course I do. It's work hours, isn't it?"
"It is."
Then, Yona took out a piece of A4 paper from her bag and handed it to Josephine. "This is my breakfast for today. Go and get it."
Josephine accepted the paper and opened it to take a look. There weren't too many things written there, just about ten items or so. But all of the food would have to be purchased from different locations.
For example, the croissants from La Pluie would have to be bought from the bakery that was six miles away from the company.
Yona smiled and said, "Go on and get them. Once I finish eating, I'll start working."
When everyone heard this, they finally understood why Yona had arrived at the company so early.
It wasn't because she had grown a conscience but because she wanted to make Josephine's life harder. What a huge grudge she held! They all thought they could get to work early, but now it looked like it would be lunchtime by the time Josephine got back with breakfast. Josephine accepted the list and said, "Will the travel costs be reimbursed?"
Yona looked at Josephine in disdain. "All I'm asking is for you to get me breakfast. And yet you still want to get reimbursed? Do you have a death wish?"
Josephine replied, "I don't earn much a month. Am I supposed to spend it all on cab fare? If I get reimbursed, I'll go. If not, I won't."
"You...!" Yona got mad at Josephine's words.
But she couldn't just not reimburse Josephine. If she didn't, Josephine's monthly salary wouldn't be enough for the cab fare. With so many people watching, Yona couldn't win.
She said in a huff, "It will be reimbursed then! I'm only giving you a hundred. Hurry up and go!"
As she said this, Yona took two hundred dollars from her bag. The extra hundred was for the food.
Josephine accepted the money and asked, "Do you want me to buy anything else?"
Yona was about to say something when she remembered she had a recorder on her. After thinking about it, she sat back on the couch, upset. "Nothing else!"
Josephine nodded and turned to leave.
When Yona looked up, she found everyone nearby looking at her. They all seemed to be amused. She glared at them, causing them all to look away and get back to work.
Right then, Yona felt like a clown.
She wondered if she'd been making trouble for Josephine or if Josephine had played her.
She'd come here so early only to make a fool of herself.
Her fingers gripped her bag so hard that it nearly went out of shape. After a while, she grabbed her bag and left.
When Josephine got back with the breakfast, Yona was gone.
Nicolas couldn't even speak. He had nothing to say about Yona's temper anymore.
He sat by the window and smoked without a care.
After he finished smoking, he stood up abruptly and said, "Get all your things and help Team Delta with shooting."
The team all felt somewhat dejected. No one dared to make a peep.
Josephine put the breakfast she had bought on the table. She took an item of food before following the others to the shooting site.
This vlogger, or rather this team, wasn't as popular as Yona, but it was better to work with them.
They weren't arrogant and cooperated very well. They didn't act like they were famous at all.
They were shooting an office scene, so there was no need to head outside. They could just film in the company. Josephine didn't have much to do, so she took out her phone for a look. Suddenly, she received a new text message. It was from Seth.
