What Separates Me and You
Chapter 477 I'm Afraid

Josephine fell into a trance. Could a person change so much?

Her memories of him might have become blurry, but Wendy's video showed a stark contrast between his personality now and before.

He seemed to be two entirely different people.

Lost in thought, Josephine suddenly heard the sound of high heels clicking.

She and Wendy turned around to see Yona approaching.

They thought she would slack off again, but here she was.

Yona scanned the room before finally spotting Josephine. A smile curved on her lips, and she strolled over.

Josephine glanced at her skeptically, wondering what she was up to now.

Taking a seat opposite Josephine, Yona greeted, "Good afternoon."

Josephine and Wendy exchanged a glance. They both felt a sense of unease about Yona's intentions.

"Good afternoon. Is there something you need?" Josephine asked politely.

Yona rolled her eyes at Josephine. "I'm just saying hello. Why are you so surprised? Relax, I'm not here to make trouble for you."

Josephine's eyelid twitched slightly. She wasn't entirely convinced by Yona's words.

"Don't look at me like that. Well, on second thought, we're all in the same department. There's no need to make things so ugly. I'm still under contract, and it wouldn't benefit me to offend the company. It's not worth it."

Yona was right. While it seemed like Yona was causing trouble for Josephine, she was actually challenging the company. It was surprising she realized that.

"Really?" Wendy asked, her voice carrying a hint of pleasant surprise. It would certainly make things easier for everyone if Yona didn't cause trouble. "Of course. Why else would I be sitting here?" Yona adjusted her hair and smiled at Josephine.

Josephine frowned, still not entirely convinced by Yona's words.

After all, people don't change their ways easily.

At least, that was the case with Lewis.

However, Yona became surprisingly active when work resumed in the afternoon to prove herself. She even voluntarily helped everyone carry things. Many people stared at her as if she were a ghost.

Some speculated that she might be possessed. Others thought she might have had a good time with Lewis. It might have improved her mood and made her want to perform well.

After thinking it over, that seemed to be the only plausible explanation.

As long as she wasn't causing trouble, Josephine was content. She didn't have much to do. She only had to help Yona carry her bag or fetch water.

Perhaps out of boredom, Josephine started feeling sleepy while they were filming. She couldn't stop yawning.

Wendy noticed her dispirited face and walked over with concern. "Josephine, are you alright? Did you not sleep well last night?"

"Probably," Josephine rubbed her eyes and watched the ongoing filming with an exhausted gaze.

She hadn't slept much the previous night, so it was likely a result of poor sleep.

"In that case, you should rest early after work."

Josephine nodded and yawned again.

Judging by the situation, the crew would take at least another two hours to wrap up. Josephine slouched in her chair, her head drooping. Before she knew it, she had fallen asleep.

Someone shook her a few times, abruptly waking her up. Bewildered, she looked around and found a group of people standing before her. "Are you okay? How could you fall asleep here?" Yona exclaimed.

Nicholas chimed in, "Are you feeling unwell? You should go to the hospital if you're not feeling well."

Suddenly surrounded by so many concerned faces, Josephine felt somewhat uncomfortable. Only then did she realize that she was still at work. "I'm sorry. I didn't sleep well last night ..."

Yona rolled her eyes. "You really treat this place like your own home. I can't believe you sleep whenever you feel like it."

Most importantly, she actually fell asleep amidst all that noise. It was ridiculous!

Nicholas glanced at her again and said, "Forget it. Let's pack up and head off. That's all for today."

Seeing that she was alright, everyone dispersed.

Josephine picked up her phone and checked the time. It was already 7:00 pm.

She quickly got up to help the others with packing. Some people returned to the company for dinner, while others went home. When most of the people had left, Josephine made her way to the nearest parking lot and took the bodyguard's car to go home. Upon arriving home, she was surprised that Lewis wasn't there.

Only Mrs. Larson was in the house. Mrs. Larson greeted her with a smile. "Mrs. Alvarez, you're back."

Josephine nodded slightly and took a few steps before asking, "He's not home?"

Mrs. Larson replied, "Mr. Alvarez said he has some matters to attend to and will be back later. He asked you to go ahead and have your meal." A sense of unease washed over Josephine.

She thought about what Lewis had said about wanting to kill Seth. Was he planning to do that?

"I'll go to the bathroom first," Josephine said, then quickly headed upstairs. Once in her room, she locked the door and took out her phone to call Seth.

His phone was switched off!

She tried calling Seth more than ten times, but his phone was turned off.

Refusing to give up, she attempted a voice call. Yet again, there was no answer.

Her heart raced, and her grip on the phone tightened. Suddenly, a flash of lightning outside startled her, making her shiver.

Regaining her composure, Josephine looked at the contacts on her phone. She called Lewis after taking a deep breath.

She got through to Lewis. He answered almost immediately. She heard his deep, maic voice on the other end. "What is it?" Suppressing her emotions, she tried to speak as calmly as possible. "Where are you?"

"Outside."

Josephine fell speechless for a moment. She was afraid of provoking him. Who knew he might really kill Seth?

Noticing Josephine hesitating, Lewis prompted, "What's the matter?"

"It's going to rain, and I-I'm a little scared. Can you come back?"

He chuckled, and his tone softened, "Sure."

After hanging up the phone, Josephine closed her eyes and breathed deeply. She hoped to convince him to spare Seth's life by giving in.

Lewis must be smart enough to understand the implications of killing Seth.

Josephine anxiously waited in the room for over half an hour. Suddenly, she heard a car engine outside, and her heart leaped again. After a while, Lewis walked in.

Josephine immediately stood up from the sofa, her gaze fixed on him.

He approached Josephine slowly, looking at her intently. His gaze was unreadable. "Have you eaten?"

Josephine shook her head, "I was waiting for you."

Lewis continued to stare at her without blinking, his gaze lingering on her for a long while. It felt as if he was trying to see through her. It made Josephine's scalp tingle.

As Josephine began to feel overwhelmed by his gaze, he smiled and pulled her into his embrace. "Don't wait for me next time. Let's go."

It had been a long time since Josephine had washed his clothes. He still carried that faint aroma of gardenia. Every time she caught a whiff of it, an indescribable feeling would well up within her.

Josephine followed him to the dining room. Throughout the meal, she ate absentmindedly. She would occasionally steal glances at Lewis.

Unfortunately, she couldn't discern anything from his demeanor.

She dared not ask either.

After the meal, she took her herbal concoction. It tasted ten times worse than any other concoction she had drank. It was awful.
