Jess’s POV

‘Oh man, Midnight. Odette is really pissed this time.’ I said as I was literally running for my life. Midnight just laughs at me. ‘It was kind of your own fault doll. You know that it will be worse once Layla finds out.’ I shuddered at the thought. “Jessabelle, just wait until I get my hands on you…” Odette growled out as she ran faster after me. Odette may not be a fighter like me, but she was about just as fast as me if she pushed herself.

I couldn’t shake her off my tail no matter what so I made a dash for the pack house. I know Raphael will help if I find him before she catches me. I burst in through the doors to the dining room and raced past Raphael with Odette still hot on my heels. Out of the corner of my eye I saw that Raphael had snagged Odette into his arms and set her on his lap. I chuckled to myself, but then I felt a strong pair of arms snake around my waist, and the next thing I knew I was also in someone’s lap.

I looked up and saw Leo smirking down at me. “Now princess, what did you do to be in so much trouble with my sweet cousin over there?” he asked while nuzzling into my neck. “Sweet? I was being chased by a mad wolf, Leo. What is so sweet about that?” I said, while throwing a teasing grin over at Odette. She growled from her spot on Raphael’s lap. “I wouldn’t be such a mad wolf if a certain tomboy luna wasn’t pounding male warriors into the ground earlier.” She snapped. ‘s**t!’

“WHAT!?” I heard Layla shriek. ‘s**t, s**t, s**t!’ I kept repeating in my head. Midnight was rolling over laughing at me in my head. ‘Oh shut up Midnight. You were just as restless as I was.’ My thoughts with Midnight were interrupted as Layla started to scold me. “I told you Jessabelle. Today you were to do no training of any kind. You need to rest and relax for today, so you have plenty of energy for the ceremony tomorrow.”

I shrink back and try as much as I can into Leo’s chest. I glance over at Felix as a cry for help. He smiles and chuckles under his breath. “Oh sweet heart. Let the girl be. You know she is a very active person. Asking her to take a complete day off from training is hard for someone like her.” Fleix cooed to his mate. It worked and Layla let me off with a final glare. “Fine.” she sighed. I breathed in relief and smiled over at Felix and mouthed a ‘thank you’ to him.

I grabbed a glass of water to rehydrate after being chased around. “I think the boys need to put a pup in her so she will learn to sit still.” Odette blurted out. Causing me to choke on my water. Leo starts hitting my back hard to help me cough up the water. “That is a bit early cuz.” Hero said with a slight chuckle. I was finally able to breathe again and glared at Odette from across the table.

“What do you mean early? Jess is covered in your guy’s scent already. Plus if she had a pup she would have to take better care of herself.” She said in a teasing tone. I pout and turn to Layla and Felix. “Mom, dad. Odette is being pushy today.” They laugh. “Oh sweetie, but I would love to have grand pups sometime in the near future.” Layla said with a wink. I felt myself blush a deep red. “Not you too. Stop teasing me already.” I whine and cover my face with my hands.

I felt Leo chuckle under me. I looked up at him to glare but I was met with a deep k**s. I softly growled into his lips. I was never really able to stay mad at any of the triplets for long. As soon as Leo pulls away from my lips he stands up with me in his arms, and starts walking out of the dining room. “I guess we can work on that now, since we are banned from the room later tonight.” he said in a husky voice. I blushed and then I noticed that Hero and Zero were hot on his heels as they dashed to our room. I giggled and Midnight purred for what was coming.

Alex’s POV

I rolled my eyes and chuckled as the triplets dashed out of the dining room with Jess. Seeing Jess so happy now makes me feel a bit better, but I still miss her like crazy. I lost so much time with my baby sister. Now I have to keep reminding myself that she is no longer just my baby sister. She is a strong and beautiful she-wolf that has three mates that love and care for her. I looked across the table and saw my parents just looking down at their food, poking at it as they were lost in thought. I mind linked them to see what is bothering them now.

(Mindlink conversation. A=Alex, D=Dad, and M=Mom.)

A: Ok, what is wrong with the two of you now? Mom, dad?

M: I don’t really like how Luna Layla called Jess her daughter earlier and that she glared at us and sent us out of the room.

D: Jess also just called them ‘mom and dad’ how do you expect us to feel about this Alex? We are not happy that your sister is ignoring us right now.

I just stare at them for a moment… I was in disbelief in what I heard for a minute. “Do you guys honestly think she will be happy go lucky with you again after what happened at Red Moon?” I asked them outloud. My parents glared at me and dad growled. Making everyone look our way, but we ignored them.

“What do you mean Alexander? You and Roy actually did harm her and she is not ignoring you two. Your father and I never touched her.” Mom snarled. Before I could say anything Luna Layla cleared her voice. “Mrs. Simons. It is not about the physical wounds that Jess endured that is why she has become distant from you. It may be true you never harmed her, but did you ever protect her?” She asked with coldness in her voice and eyes.

Mom tried to open her mouth to speak, but Luna Layla cut her off with a harder glare. A glare that had me cowring in my seat. “You two could have given her love despite what the pack was doing, yet you turned a blind eye to it all. She was hurting everyday and you two did nothing to take that pain away.” Damn if looks could kill, my parents would be cold in the ground by now.

Mom shot up from her seat and glared back at Luna Layla. “What would you have done if you were in our position. She was charged with killing my best friend and Luna!?” She screamed at her. Luna Layla rose from her seat and looked my mother dead in the eye. “I would have loved my child and been there for her!” She yelled back. “I would have killed anyone, even my own mate, if it was for the well being of my children and Felix would do the same. A child comes first before anything and everything.” Then Alpha Felix rose to his feet. “You are here because we know how important you are to our Jess, but if you do not mind your manners in our home, then you should go to the human town during your stay. I will not allow anyone to harm MY DAUGHTER anymore.” he said never once breaking eye contact with my parents.

“As parents you should think about how Jess felt all those years. How she felt when you loved Alex more, when you were there for him and not her, when you ignored her very existence in your household. You truly don’t know what you have until it’s gone.” Luna Layla said. I could see sadness and anger mixed in her eyes. They turned to walk out of the dining room but before they left, Alpha Felix took one last look at my parents. “Also do not corner her to speak with you. You should wait until she is ready to speak with you about the past, just like she did with Alex and Roy at Thunder Mountain.” With those final words they left.

I looked back over to my parents. They were ashamed, mad, and hurt. I just couldn’t tell if the emotions were directed to themselves or others, but Luna Layla and Alpha Felix were right. They needed to give Jess time and come to them when she was ready. I just hope that Jess doesn’t kick their asses like she did me before she would speak to me.
