Spike’s POV

It feels weird having Sabrina and Alex in my space, but not as much as I thought it would be. As Sabrina casted her spell on me, I thought of Midnight in my head. I tried to picture her as best I could, hoping it would help us track her better. I pictured her raven black fur with her white moon around her eye. Her different colored eyes that were always filled with kindness, forgiveness, determination, and a little bit of mischief. I could feel a pull deep in my chest. It was coming from my bond with Midnight as my twin. I opened my eyes again and just like Sabrina said, I could see the scents of those around me.

Alex and I had a soft yellow hue swirling around him, and Sabrina had a soft purple hue around her. I looked around the area and saw a faint turquoise hue swirling into the tree line. The pull in my chest made me follow that scent trail. Even if I could smell her, I knew it was Midnight and Jess. It was like I was in a trance. I followed the trail without even looking to see if Alex and Sabrina were following me. Though the footsteps I could hear behind me, told me that they were following.

It felt like forever that we were just walking in silence, though the forest around us. As we started getting closer and closer to some mountain that looked completely black, I started to catch a faint familiar scent in the air. ‘Midnight!’ I thought to myself. It was her scent, but something was different about it. I couldn’t make out what it was. As I sniffed the air some more, I continued to follow the trail towards the mountain.

The trail led us to the base of the mountain. Her scent was getting stronger. “Brother.” I felt her call me. I dashed around the base of the mountain. I came across small holes that were dug into the bottom of the mountains. Midnight’s scent was coming from one of them. I dashed over and saw it was some kind of cell. I saw Jessabelle laying down sleeping. I don’t know if it was Sarbina’s spell or our bond, but I could see Midnight in some kind of spirit form. She was curled up in a ball around Jess’s stomach.

I could feel her fear, but not for herself. Midnight was fearing for something else entirely. I sniffed the air again and my eyes widened in shock. I howled for Sabrina and Alex. “Sabrina! Over here!” I called out as they ran towards me. Sabrina nodded and cast another spell. A bright light fills my vision and then when I can see clearly again… I am back at my lake in the world I created for myself. Alex and Sabrina are nowhere to be seen. ‘Alex?’ I called to him through our mindlink. ‘Hey dude. The spell was a huge success. Now we can make plans on how to get Jess and Shianna back.’ He answered excitedly back.

‘Alex, we need to hurry and bring our sister home.’ I told him. ‘Spike what is wrong?’ his voice coming back through laced with worry and fear. ‘In a different situation, it would be wonderful, but right now we need to get her as soon as possible.’ ‘Spike quit stalling and tell me right now!!’ he demanded. I growled. It honestly isn’t my news to share, but I guess Midnight can just kick my butt later. It was no longer her life that we needed to save. ‘Alex, Jess is with child.’
