Finally, we're going to find Alita. I know things have changed, I know she's different now, but my heart leaps for joy knowing that soon she will be home and safe.

I'm glad I packed last night and enjoyed my time with Eda. While my mom and I were busy packing, my dad and brother were searching for packs near Venice.

Dad found the Verona Pack and has some connections with them because of business. He sent in the request to stay there and although we haven't heard back from them yet, but we decided to head out anyway. Worse comes to worst then we'll stay in a hotel, it's not like we can't afford it.

We say our goodbyes to Osborn, Eda, and the girls and we get on the plane to go find Alita. I hope that the bond we have built over these years will help guide me in finding her.

I think that Sofia was right and that Aurora, if that's her real name, is actually a missing person. It makes a lot of sense and so I have been looking through the missing person reports that we have received over the past year.

Lorenzo and Sofia have been keeping Aurora occupied and I think it was for the best because she has gotten angry a few times with them. I don't blame her, she feels like she was kidnapped, but we need to make sure that her home is actually safe for her. As I'm scrolling through the reports Lorenzo's business email dings and shows that it's from the previous Alpha of the Scarlet Pack.

My eyebrows furrow, the Scarlet Pack... that's the biggest pack in North America. Why would they be contacting us?

I scan over the message to see that they are asking for permission to come here for a visit while they search for their missing daughter. They include a picture of her, and my jaw drops when I open it.

It's Aurora. She looks a bit different now. She looks older, her hair has been dyed, and honestly, I wonder if a little bit of plastic surgery was used on her because the shape of her face is slightly different than it was in this photo.

But I'm sure, this is Aurora... or I guess her real name is Alita. Alita Joy Thorne.

I wait for Lorenzo, I need to show him this, but I don't want her to see me. Not yet.

I can hear someone walking down the stairs and I look up to see Sofia. She smiles at me and asks, "Any luck yet?"

I nod, "Yes, actually... So, we received an email from the previous Alpha of the Scarlet Pack in North America."

Her eyebrows furrow as she asks, "Isn't that like the biggest and most well-known pack?"

I nod in confirmation and say, "They're requesting a visit, they're coming to search for their missing daughter, Alita. This is the most recent photo they had of her."

Sofia gasps upon seeing the photo and says, "That's- that's Aurora."

"Apparently, her real name is Alita."

She breathes out, "I'll get Lorenzo so he can contact them. Perhaps it's time for you to try and settle your mate?"

I press my lips at her suggestion. I'm scared for how Aurora- I mean, Alita, might react to my presence. I want to be with her, and I don't want her to be scared of me. I force myself to my feet and say, "I'll tell Lorenzo to come down." She smiles in approval as I turn to leave. I hope my mate will be okay with my presence.

I learned that the man's name was Lorenzo and that he is the Alpha of this pack. The Verona Pack.

Aamon must be worried sick since I haven't returned home. These people believe they're helping me, but they're mistaken. They think that I'm in an abusive relationship or something even though I've told them countless times that I'm happy with my mate and I want to go back home to him.

Finally, the Alpha and Luna leave me. They said it was for me to 'process' although I don't know what I'm supposed to be processing. I look out the window, but I'm on the second story. If I wasn't pregnant then I would take the risk of running, but even if I made it out from the window unscathed then I'd still have to get past their patrol.

I huff as I fall back on the bed. This is incredibly frustrating.

There's a light knock on my door and I grunt, "What?"

The door opens and I look over surprised to see a man I knew. A man I felt way too comfortable with. A man named, Mateo.

He smiles at me as he says, "Hey Ali-Aurora." What was he about to call me? I wonder. He sits at the edge of the bed and says, "I wanted to check in on you."

I look at him and for some reason, I know I can trust him. If he wants what's best for me then he would help me get away from here... right?

I say, "I'm in an unknown place with no way to get back home, how do you think I am?"

He chuckles, "I would think... uncomfortable. But Lorenzo and Sofia, they are just trying to look out for you."

I squint my eyes as I look him over and I say, "They hardly know me. Why would they want to look out for me?"

Mateo looks at me and there's a moment of silence between us and I can see his mind working. He's trying to figure out how to talk to me and he seems uncomfortable. I wait and let him process, hoping that he would only speak the truth to me. He says, "They're the Alpha and Luna of this pack, it's their job to look out for their pack members."

"Yeah, but I'm not a pack member."

"True," He says nodding his head before he adds on, "But you're the mate of one. So, they want to make sure you're okay."

I scoff as I shake my head and say, "Aamon doesn't belong to a pack."

"I'm not talking about Aamon, I'm talking about me. Come on, Aurora, surely you can feel the tingles between us."

He touches my hand and I force myself not to react from the tingles erupting on my skin. He murmurs, "It can't be just me."

I pull my hand away from him and say, "So, you're a pack member here?"

Mateo nods and says proudly, "I'm the Beta, actually. It's a fantastic pack, I would love to show you around when you're not so... on edge. Maybe in the morning, we could go for a walk."

Yes, yes! That would be the perfect chance to escape. Now, I just need to seem convincing. I touch his hand and his face moves up to look at me, his eyes are wide in surprise, and I smile, "I'd like that."
