Anything For You -
Chapter 145
It's been three days since King Faust Roxflood was back in the kingdom. He had been busy attending the court. His absence for three months had piled up many things, even though Herbew had been handling everything well.
"I had told them to keep an eye on those Shifters for a while. We aren't still certain about the new treaty." Herbew proposed his wish. He had already sent some of the soldiers over the borders of Roxflood which were common with the Fifth Lake Kingdom. "I trust your decisions, Herbew. Besides, you have handled everything pretty well, while I was absent. I am proud of you. See, I have told you numerous times that you are born to rule the kingdom, but you never were serious. Now, what did you decide after these three months?" King asked Herbew hoping that the latter would change his decision of being a military official for the rest of his life, rather than ruling the kingdom. "Well, I... I just did what you told me." Herbew replied honestly.
"I hope you would agree with me now. Ruling is in your blood, and you can't deny it. Also, I can see that satisfaction over your face. I know you like it." The king reasoned.
"I am not sure, father," Herbew said.
"Let's give you some more time. But trust me, you will be a great king after me. Now tell me, where is Calista? I have heard something; you didn't report me." The king said out of the box, raising one of his eyebrows; a gesture of unhappiness.
"Calista had been busy with her business deals these days. We didn't talk much, but she is happy. Joyous than always. She is just..." Herbew avoided for a bit, trying to collect the words to form a proper sentence, so that he could reveal the truth, and added, "She is just... Involved with a human."
That's it.
His words came as a huge blow to King Faust. He released off a dangerous aura. Herbew felt it. And the king just interrogated,
"WHO, and HOW?"
His tone was heavy as if filled with anger and aggression.
"Me. Leevon Lexington, Romantically."
Oh No. The King ran his fingers over his temple harshly. He was pissed. He had been trying to protect his daughter from humans the whole of her life, and she got involved with a human and that too romantically! This was a bad thing. He had got to talk to Calista. He rushed towards her room, talking hasty steps, turmoil taking over his body and all sorts of ominous thoughts started to mark their presence in his head. He adored his daughter the most. He couldn't afford to lose her.
Herbew kept him stopping by from behind, but the king didn't heed. He kept on moving first hastily and then teleported himself outside Calista's room. He had to talk to her.
"Calista" His tone softened a bit seeing her sitting beside the window. She was star-gazing; a soft gentle smile lingered over her lips for a while, and it expanded the moment Faust arrived.
She called him gently, "Father, I missed you so much." And wrapped her arms around his torso. She always loved to hug him. He planted a short-lived kiss over her temples, running his hand over her hair.
She felt it. He had been radiating an uneasiness-filled aura. She felt the upheaval in his gestures. Releasing the hug, she gazed deep into his eyes. He in turn responded to the gesticulation.
Herbew, who had been standing outside was going insane with worry. He knew how much Faust opposed Calista's involvement with humans. He was walking back and forth outside her room when Veronica saw him while she was passing by.
Since king Faust had handed over the responsibility of the Kingdom, Herbew had been busy, and he couldn't spare much time for Veronica. Today, King was back and she wanted to talk to him about the kiss they shared back two months.
But approaching him, she found his nerves stiffened. What could bother him! Having this question at the surface, she moved closer to him. The sweet fragrance of her Lily perfume hit his nostrils, and he was forced to turn towards her. He had been avoiding her since the day they kissed. But looked like, there was no turning back now.
"Veronica." He called her softly, and she bowed in returning holding her long silk gown, royally. Her eyes moved slowly upwards and downwards.t Herbew found himself getting addicted. This girl invaded his boundaries.
"You look worried, Your Highness. What is the matter?" She asked him politely, just like she did always? He didn't know why he was flattered.
"Father found about Calista and Leevon. He... he is talking to her inside. I am afraid..."
"Don't worry. The Lord loves Calista more than anyone. He won't hurt her at all." Veronica patted over Herbew's hands and gently stroked his fingers.
He felt at ease. Having Veronica around him made him calmer. He gave it a thought and knew that he was worried for nothing. They looked at each other and his gaze landed at her luscious lips, which looked extra red and plumpy right now. He had a strong urge to kiss her then and there. His lips quivered a bit. But he composed himself.
Veronica saw through his intentions. She didn't dare to admit that she also wanted the same. This man stole her first kiss. In no way, she would let him do the same with her second one. She acted quickly and her lips found his.
Herbew was stunned for a moment. His sense of thought was number. Veronica kissed him. He had a hard time digesting this fact, but the girl was hungrily nibbling his lips. She wanted to enter in his mouth, but he was way too dominant.
She bit down over his lower lip. He gasped and she took the opportunity to enter in his mouth, her hands rested at the sides of his face, holding him tightly. While his hands moved all over her thin body, and she could feel his fingers under the thin fabric of her gown. Both of them had been busy with themselves, while the father-daughter duo was talking inside.
The King hadn't replied to her still. She was confused with his way of acting around. She touched his hand, and kept looking at him. His words buzzed in her ears as a question mark,
"What is it with Mr. Leevon?" He was trying to be calm. He had no intentions of scaring her. She wasn't either.
"I... I love him, father." She replied without any doubts and second thoughts. He felt as if struck by a thunderstorm.
"You can't. He is a human. You are a vampire. I don't agree." He ordered her to break up with Leevon indirectly.
"I love him, father. He is a good human. Besides, there had been so many couples like us. I don't have any problems with it." She tried to explain.
"Does he feel the same, Calista? Have you told him that you aren't a human, but a vampire? How would that human react? Have you thought about it?" He shot her with questions at once. She was at a loss for words. She was silent.
Her fingers were tucked together and she was just looking at the ground. Watching her getting silent, the King got his answers. She didn't tell him.
"If you are sure that he won't freak out after finding your truth, and he won't ever hurt you, then I want to meet him.
Today." He announced and departed from the room, leaving the girl in her abyss of thoughts. Her mind was restless.
She immediately used her vampire power to track Leevon. But there was no sign of him. It appeared that he wasn't even any closer to her. But his house was nearby the Roxflood kingdom. Why wasn't she able to feel him, sense him, and find him? This was another problem now. She couldn't just sit and watch everything.
She had to find him. She tried once again. Closing her eyes, she focused in her glabella, thinking about Leevon. She focused for a while, but she could only feel a heavy strain over her forehead. There was nothing related to Leevon. It felt like he had never been there. She was getting more and more restless.
Once again, she used her mind-link to find him, and this time, she succeeded for a bit. He was sitting in his house, with a sharp danger in his hands, in deep thoughts. She tried to find out what he was thinking, but the images became blurry and then disappeared completely. It just lasted for a split second. It never happened before. This matter was grave. She had to find him, and tell him the truth.
While Calista prepared herself for confronting Leevon, he had already decided to free her from the Blood pact. Both were adamant about protecting each other from each other.
