**Lady By The Sea by Stephen Sanchez**

Scarlet had been feeling hot and uneasy since she had finished her drink. She occasionally peered at Dankein whose face was as calm as always and was trying to lay the required attention to his words, but her body was twitching. She had realized that she needed to shift to overdo the uneasiness, for she was insanely craving to be in the water. And the swimming pool a bead of her eyes was making it even more difficult.

She knew she couldn't risk the shift while Dankein was there, and the man kept on talking like he was a chatterbox. Trying to ease the situation, she demanded water which the server delivered within moments and gulped the whole bottle in one go. Dankein had a twisted grin over his calm face indicating that he was succeeding in his plan with each passing by second.

Jack, on the other hand, was looking for Scarlet. He wasn't having an exceptionally good impression of Dankein, and he had seen through the way that Professor looked at Scarlet. It surely wasn't a friendly gesture. Hoping for Scarlet to be fine, he kept on roaming around the premises looking for her and sniffing her scent, but all in vain.

Scarlet was done. She couldn't keep stalling and got up from her seat in one go startling Dankein.

"Miss. Lozenge, are you all right? You are sweating profusely." Dankein asked giving brief attention to her forehead where lingered numerous sweat drops. The girl looked around and found no one except Dankein and the server of the café who was quite a distance away. She was relieved for at least she wouldn't have to kick everyone before she lost control.

Sucking in a mouthful of breath, she inhaled the air and hoped the vapors to condense in her mouth to quench her unexplainable thirst,

"Professor, I...I am not feeling well. It's extremely hot here. I...I need to shower." Saying that she was just about to move towards the exit of the swimming section when Dankein grabbed her arm and gestured her to the seat which she profusely refused with eyes. Then understood it was his time.

"Miss. Lozenge, I don't think you will be fine on your way to the restrooms. Why don't you dive in the pool? I think it will help you relax." He suggested and the girl's eyes searched Dankein's for any plots, but she was too occupied with her uneasiness that she couldn't find any.

With a curt nod, Scarlet moved towards the pool and Dankein excited the premises leaving only her in there. She quickly let go of her clothes and dived into the pool. And that's it. Scarlet shifted to her mermaid form with long, waterfall, ocean-blue hairs cascading up to her knees, ocean-blue sharp eyes, and porcelain skin. The mermaid fin kept on changing colors as always.

Relief. That was the only emotion she could feel. But she knew that it wasn't safe in the premises to show her true self, and hence used her powers to shut all the doors thinking that she was alone in the premises. But Dankein had already sneaked in from the back door and was now channelizing his energy into the pool water.

Dankein was mesmerized by her beautiful appearance. Fisting his hands, he let loose some white round balls of energy that hit the pool water. Staying safe in the same corner, he started blowing more and more energy balls until they formed into a huge bubble and burst over Scarlet's head releasing tiny water droplets, but she didn't notice because of already been drenched heavily.

The smug and sinister grin that was plastered over Dankein's face widened reaching up to his ears and he opened his hands. There lay the skin. Yes, the skin of that mermaid girl. Shining in all colors, reflecting and lighting the corner. He touched it and felt something strong. Not wasting any more time, he fetched another red pouch from the sleeves of his long coat and kept the asking safe giving Scarlet her alone time.

-WEREALM-

"Alpha, I had never of anything like that. I mean there are many creatures in the world, but someone with purple and ocean-blue eyes, both at the same time...I find it hard to comprehend. I may not be of any help to you." The royal minister Mr. Danson who was always looking for something me and fresh powers in the world said when Emerald explained the situation with Scarlet, without mentioning her name.

"Mr. Danson, can you find anything?" Emerald asked. He wasn't sure either of why he asked such a question. His father had separated himself from this matter.

"I can try, Alpha. But I can't promise you any reliable information before meeting with the person concerned or before an encounter with those powers." Mr. Danson said and left the room at once.

Emerald called Jack who picked up in one call. "Alpha..."

"Jack, all good with Luna?" His first question as Jack expected. He sighed and replied shaking his head as if Emerald could see through the mobile,

"I don't think so. I feel like something is happening and something is not right here. I just don't know what. She looks fine, but..."

"But..? Jack..!" Emerald asked in his deep Alpha tone and Jack confessed everything about Dankein along with putting forth his distrust in the man. "Name!" Emerald asked.

"Professor Dankein Cosh," Jack replied and before he could disconnect the call, he heard Emerald curse under his breath,

"F**k. He isn't any professor, Jack. He is Dankein." Realization hit hard Jack when he heard the name from Emerald and muttered,

"He can't be, Alpha. He is the king of Dream-catchers!! What is he doing here, and that too with Luna? I need to find her." Saying that Jack immediately put the phone in his side pocket and his eyes turned light yellow. He sniffed Scarlet's scent once again and ran towards the swimming section of the sports department.

Reaching there, he found the doors locked and peered inside. Finding nobody around, Jack felt his heart sinking thinking about the inevitable and Emerald's reaction. The cell phone in his pocket buzzed again and he ignored it. Scarlet and her safety was his priority. Trying once, he knocked at the door harshly and the sound landed in the girl's ears who was lavishly floating in the water splashing it with her mermaid tail.

She glanced at the source of sound and found Jack knocking at the door. Snapping her fingers, she let go of the door and Jack knocked again only to stagger and land over the floor with his stomach touching the ground. The impact was so sudden and Scarlet had witnessed it that she couldn't stop laughing.

Embarrassed, Jack stood up immediately and dusted his clothes off the imaginary dust, and relaxed when he found Scarlet alone...in the pool. His eyes searched the compound and there were no signs of Dankein. Scarlet saw him peeking,

"Professor had left a while ago, Jack." She was still in her shift. Jack slowly approached her and found his being mesmerized to the core with her beauty and porcelain skin.

"Alpha is so lucky to have you, Luna. But you must stay away from Professor Cosh. He is not what you think he is." Jack crouched down over the edge of the pool and said while looking at Scarlet's face. His eyes never wavered for a single second. He knew his limit well.

Jenny had seen Jack running towards the swimming section and followed him too. Jack was trying to tell Scarlet about Dankein when Scarlet heard the approaching footsteps and she knew who that sound belonged to. Immediately shifting back to her human form, she lied in the pool in her undergarments and Jack instantly averted his gaze.

Scarlet came out of the pool and grabbed a towel from the nearby staunch to wrap her body while Jack turned his head to the other side where his eyes found Jenny...trembling, hands fisted tightly with visible white-knuckles: a gesture of hurt, and anger mixed. Behind her was standing Eva blinking her eyes stupidly as if she had witnessed something unimaginable.

Jack's eyes found Jenny's that we're turning red; probably due to her confused feelings for him. Before he or Scarlet could say anything, Jenny turned and left the compound leaving Scarlet wondering, Eva, rolling her eyes, and Jack; stupefied.

"What happened to her?" He asked pointing his finger in the direction from where Jenny had disappeared and found Eva shrugging her shoulders and Scarlet looking confused. Deciding to go after her, he took a step when Emerald's name displayed over his phone screen and he tugged the phone to his ear answering, leaving the compound.
