Arranged To The Alpha -
Chapter 32
Blake:
My heart dropped to my stomach as I heard the man’s words leave his mouth.
Natalia’s eyes dropped down to the dragon which was sitting in the middle of the room before she got up and extended a hand toward her. The dragon looked at Natalia for a second before Natalia nodded, allowing her to get on her hand.
“Get out of our house and I never want to see you around our pack again” Natalia said coldly. Her grandfather’s eyes widened in surprise, and the fire inside the fireplace increased in size as he stood up, clearly annoyed by his granddaughter’s words.
“I did not force him into doing what he wanted…”
“Had it been for you, neither me nor my siblings would be alive right now. A cruel man who can kill his love for power…”
“When power consumes you, and you know your responsibilities…”
“Screw all the power in the world if it would kill me or my loved ones” she said, stopping him. The man’s eyes widened in surprise, his heart racing against his ribcage before he nodded, walking toward the door.
“You will know when the time comes and it’s your turn to rule…”
“I have no turn to rule. Your men, your trainees, I don’t give a damn who takes the place after me, but it won’t be me” Natalia said coldly. She placed Crystal on her shoulder, allowing her to rest there “now, please get out of our house and NEVER dare invite yourself into our territory again”
He took a step toward her, his body towering hers as I stood, growling in warning. The man paid no attention to my warning as he stood in front of Natalia, looking her in the eye “you are going to regret this decision more than ever”
“I will not” Natalia said confidently “I am not you, grandfather…”
The man walked away without saying a word, his heart racing with each step he took. I nodded at the men who walked inside to know what to do, wanting them to guide him out the door. The man was mad if he thought that his words made any sense to us.
Natalia paced around the living room, her heart racing as she got lost in her thoughts. She looked up at me, her eyes meeting mine for a second before she walked toward me, wrapping her arms around my neck, hugging me tightly “never think that I would let you go for power…”
“What are you talking about, Nat?” I asked, pushing her away to look at her. She shook her head, her hands shaking as she remembered what the man said about her grandmother, how he gave her father the choice. Things clicked in both our minds as I remembered the way her parents looked at her. The way her mother seemed to hate her, her father who didn’t want to approach her. The way her parents seemed to hate her, the way they treated her coldly; it sickened me. However, I couldn’t help but understand how they felt, the pain they felt, and the anger they must have dealt with and gone through, the memories…
“Don’t you ever think like that, Natalia, do you understand me?” I whispered, kissing the crown of her head. Natalia’s heart raced as she shook despite me hugging her. I tightened my arms around her, pulling her to the couch as the two of us sat down. I hadn’t noticed that Crystal jumped off her shoulder until I sat down on the couch, seeing as the little dragon stood in front of me on the table.
“What are we going to do, Blake? I don’t…”
“We are not going to do anything” I said, stopping her. Her eyes met mine and I motioned to her to take a deep breath, one which she mimicked me in doing “first, you will relax”
“Second, you will believe that nothing will happen. Yes, we will deal with hardships, but they do not have to match what he said they are nor do they have to be the same thing, okay?” I said, looking Natalia in the eye. I extended my hand to Crystal who jumped on it, wrapping her front legs and tail around it as I pulled her between me and Natalia. I placed her on the couch as I looked at both of them.
Natalia kept her eyes on the little reptile, studying its expression for a few seconds before looking up at me “we have a dragon on the couch”
“Yes, and you are going to start accepting who you are and what you can do, your dragon too” I said, taking her hand in mine. I slowly brought it to the dragon’s head, gently placing it there, guiding her to scratching it as if she would do to a cat “and you Crystal would accept that Natalia is your other half”
“I am accepting her, it is her who doesn’t want me around”
“Crystal…”
“Fine” the dragon sassed. Natalia laughed, shaking her head as she watched the two of us.
“You’re arguing with a dragon, a talking dragon”
“Yes, it seems like I can add that to the unusual bucket list that I seem to have” I said, rolling my eyes. I brought Natalia’s hand to my lips, gently kissing her knuckle “but we are going to need to do something that I don’t think you’re going to like too much”
“Which is?” Natalia asked, frowning in confusion.
“We’re going to go and see your parents…”
**************************
“Do you think that they would want to talk to me?” Natalia asked, looking at her parent’s front door.
Despite everything that happened and what they told her, the two of us have arranged a monthly pay for them from the company as well as shares for them, ensuring that they wouldn’t need anyone or wouldn’t have anything missing in their house. Natalia’s siblings were still in their schools, and her parents were sure to live their lives to the fullest as if nothing had happened. However, the one setback that they had was that they weren’t speaking to Natalia and she wasn’t speaking to them.
“Even if they don’t, we will at least let them know that you understand why they treated you the way that they did. You would not be able to blame them anymore for it, Nat. I know that it hurts you a lot, but they have been through a lot for your sake, and to know what they sacrificed; we can no longer say anything about anything that they have done” I said looking my wife in the eye. She took a deep breath before nodding. I knocked on the door twice before taking a step back beside my wife. Crystal was hiding inside her pocket as she managed to shrink herself to a finger’s size.
We heard them walking around inside before her father opened the door. He frowned in confusion at the sight of us, his eyes hardening as they landed on his daughter. Natalia tensed, regretting that we came. However, I took her hand in mine, intertwining our fingers, reminding her that I was there by her side.
“Dad…”
“What are you doing here?” He asked, glaring at her. She looked down at her feet, avoiding his eyes. The memories of them fighting and of her kicking him and her mum out of the company when they came to ask for money was clearly still on his mind, but then again, back then we all thought that they came to use her after sending her as a bride without checking on her once.
“I’m…”
“You asked us to stay away and we did…”
“Dad, I’m sorry…” Natalia said, wrapping her arms around her father’s neck before he could say a word. I could hear her heart racing against her ribcage as she hugged him tightly and it took him a few seconds before he hugged her back.
He pulled away from the hug to look her in the eye, frowning in confusion before Crystal stood on her shoulder, looking at him. Her father’s eyes widened in surprise before Natalia nodded, her back was to me, but I was well aware that the man could see the pain in his daughter’s eyes. If anything, I knew that my beauty was not only in pain, but felt guilty for what her parents had to live because her mother was pregnant with her.
“I know everything, dad, and I know that no matter what I say; I can never repay you for it. However, I still wanted to apologize…”
“Wait, wait, what do you mean you know everything. Nat, don’t tell me that you…”
“She had to…” Crystal said answering him “if she stayed away any longer, without the protection spells and ornaments you had around the house for her; Natalia would have been dead before this summer ends”
“Come inside, all three of you, we need to talk”
